Dude

I am looking at my MBNA card, and it is strictly MC. It does not have anything to do with the state one is in. I have had many MC's in my life, none had a maestro logo. Dude it is not an American thing. MC,Visa,Discover,Amex are the big four. Then there are smaller cards! Ask someone else.

Actually I also thought Maestro and Solo were 4 UK only because I've got a Maestro/solo card and they don't accept it on all the US sites I've tried. Don't know sha.

Kazey

It is not available in the US, for US consumers. Those locations are for tourist that come in with the Maestro cards. I have never seen it at any ATM here, even in the Airports. But again there is no where i know of, that i can go apply for a Maestro card in the US. Maybe i have not looked hard enough. Where are you Kazey?

Maestro is the common standard applied for debit cards in Europe. Maestro is part of the Mastercard brand and that's where the connection with the US comes from. If I'm not mistaken, all other debit cards will soon be phased out in the Eurozone in favor of Maestro. Maestro can already be used for online payments in Belgium.

Maestro is for debit cards, not for credit cards

Maestro does work in the USA usually as a cash dispensing card (ATM USE).  However I have used it in some gas stations years back.  THis should settle your arguments.

http://www.maestrocard.com/questions/faqs/

Maestro is a member of the MasterCard/Maestro/Cirrus ATM network, which is the largest in the world, giving you immediate access to cash wherever you go. To locate an ATM in a particular place, try our ATM Locator, or, within the United States and Canada, call 1-800-4Cirrus (1-800-424-7787). Outside the United States and Canada, contact your financial institution.
