Hi Nairalanders,
Please i want to know what to look out for in buying laptops.I mean what makes a good laptop and by the way are gateway laptops any good.thanks

I guess the most important factor you would have to consider when buying a Laptop is your pocket. You might also ask yourself what exactly do u need it for. Its very important you know exactly why u need a laptop and what exactly u may need it for when buying one. These factors determine what exactly you should look out for when buying one.
Laptops come in different configurations, sizes, quality, designs and also prices. Nowatimes, Laptops comes with entertainment packages which makes it of course more interesting and expensive. When buying a standard Notebook, u should consider its Processor speed (depends on your applications), Hard Drive (determines Software and data that could be installed or stored), its Design (depends on your taste), its RAM ( fastens applications), Battery type, and others.
Don't listen to people that would tell you a special Brandname is good or not because Laptops are not produced in Nigeria. Dell, Hp, Fujitsu-Siemens, Panasonic, etc are all good makers of Notebooks but like i said, it all depends on what exactly you need it for. If you need help in choosing one, i could be of good help to u but please don't "throw your money out of the window" in the name of buying a Laptop.

Tell me exactly what u need your Laptop for and i'll tell you the right processor speed and type you might need. The whole principle on how it works won't do u no good at the moment because it might be too complicated.

Also state how much you are willing to give out. But most importantly what exactly do u want to use it for.
