I am a man born of a woman, in sin I was conceived.
I thank God, I grew up and became a healthy man, but very rude and arrogant.
I then heard the gospel and responded to alter call and gave my life to Christ.
But poor me, since I was born again, I wanted to be doing good.
But the good I wanted to do I don't do it to the best of my ability but the bad i don't want to I found myself doing it.
Alas! Who will deliever me from this live? I am tired of it but thanks to God who always lead us to victory.
Poor me, the friends I rely on always abandon me when it matters. But I thank God, I am not backward and now most of them are coming back. Who am I not to forgive? Who am I not to forget? If I don't forgive, God will not forgive me my trspasses.
If I do not forget my conscience will be wounded. People will criticize me and querry my being born again.
But I've got to live by it. I've been hurt many atimes and I still stand. Why? I have a rock, who stands for all ages. The rock of Ages is behind me, I won't fall.
Storm may come, it is part of live, Learn to cope and survive it. God has been keeping me, protecting me. I have course to glorify him.
Those I love do not love me. The one I need needs me not. I am tired of loneliness.
I love this lady, I wanted to know her home. I wanted to know her friends. I wanted to know who she really is. I wanted her to join me in making a blissful home. But alas! my dream is like a mirage.
At any conversation she still denies my love. It hurts but I live by it. There is someone who really loves and cares. This even died for me.
He is Jesus Christ. The King of Kings, Lords of Lords. He that sits on the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants are as grasshopper. He that sits in heaven and makes earth his foot stool.
Jehovah God, the Almighty God is the one behind my success. Join me in Praising Him. Halleluyah!

A few weeks ago a woman teacher was killed in an auto accident. She was very, very well loved, so the school systems shut down for her funeral and it was on the news and so on. On the day the workers came back to work, they found this poem in their e-mail that the deceased woman had sent on Friday before she left for home.
IF TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME If tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you! ,
And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready, in heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind; all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you, and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized, that this could never be,
For emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity, and all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
And since each day's the same way, there's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful, so trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things, you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven, and now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand, and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.
With thanks to Kotie

Off-shore job experience.
There is nothing glamorious about working in oil industry except the pay. Yet some work gives you more money than offshore job. The risks and hazards can't be compared to the monetary gains and benefits.
Some people say they pay oil workers too much but we don't see it like that. Imagine now I leave my home for good 28days and have 28days off. How does it sound if you're a married man, leaving your family for 28days?
But i have to do it for a period of time to stabilize my finacial life. If there is a fire breakout, the probability of surviving ranges from 0.1 to 0.5% Oh poor me to have found myself in this situation.
But I am enjoying the job. honestly, I like it for now. But won't it have effect on my family when I start bearing children?

Poor me! The Lord Is here! I am like biblical Jacob. Who was sleeping right there where God was Yet he knew not.
Thank God for him he realised himself and acknowledged the presence of God. And he exclaimed! The Lord is here and I know it not!
I saw God in you again today There in the gentle touch of your hand I saw Him in your bright smile Only God and I could understand.
I saw God in children as they play I see Him in teens and older folks too He is there in a stranger's face I see God where I go and what I do.
I saw God in a baby's hand and smile He was there in a beautiful rainbow I saw Him in a quiet, calm stream He is there when silent breezes blow.
As friends walked down the street Talking and laughing as friends do I saw God in their kindness today It was then I also thought of you.
I saw God in the morning dew He was there in the beauty of a flower I saw Him as He created the sunset I see Him every day and hour.
As friends walked down the street Talking and laughing as friends do I saw God in their kindness today It was then I also thought of you.
I saw God in the morning dew He was there in the beauty of a flower I saw Him as He created the sunset I see Him every day and hour.

THE DIMENSIONS OF GOD'S LOVE
"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge." -- Eph_3:17-19.
THE DIMENSIONS of the Love of Christ! It is broad as humanity, "for God so loved the world"; the length God's love had no date of origin, and shall have none of conclusion. God is Love, it continueth ever, indissoluble, unchangeable, a perpetual present tense. Its height--as the Flood out-topped the highest mountains, so that Love covers our highest sins. It is as high as the heaven above the earth. Its depth--Christ our Lord descended into the lowest before He rose to the highest. He has touched the bottomless pit of our sin and misery, sorrow and need. However low your fall, or lowly your lot, the everlasting arms of His love are always underneath.
The Apostle talks by hyperbole, when he prays that we may attain to a knowledge of the knowledge-surpassing love of Christ. We cannot gauge Christ's love, but we can enjoy it. Probably the only way to know the love of Christ is to begin to show it. The emotionalist, who is easily affected by appeals to the senses, does not know it; the theorist or rhapsodist does not know it, but the soul that endeavours to show the love of Christ, knows it. As Christ's love through you broadens, lengthens, deepens, heightens, you will know the love of Christ, not intellectually, but experimentally ( 1Jo_4:11, 1Jo_4:12; 1Jo_4:20-21).
But you say, "there are people in my life whom I cannot love." Granted, but you must distinguish between love and the emotion or feeling of love. You may not be able to feel love at the outset, but you can be willing to be the channel of Christ's love. I cannot love, but Christ is in me, and He can. Is it too much to ask that all this should be realized in ourselves and in others? No, because God is already at work within us by His Holy Spirit, and He is able to do infinitely beyond all our highest requests or thoughts. Ask your furthest, think your highest, and the Divine Love is always infinitely in advance.
PRAYER
We thank Thee, O God, for the infinite love which Thou hast given us in Jesus Christ. We have no measure for its heights and depths, its breadths and lengths. Teach us with all saints to know more because we love more. AMEN.

Oh poor me the most controversial personality in the forum. If I say simple no, people quickly read meaning to it. If i say yes, it's trouble. Even though i refuse to contribute they will say "where is Gp in the house. we can't satisfy human but I will do my best and leave the rest. whatever i do, I will be remembered for.
What men do live after them. My dad told me for a long time now. you can't walk without shaking head. Your silence hurts some people. Your voice is inimical to some
Some want you to talk and tap from your wealth of experience and wisdom while some won't want you to alter a word at all what kind of world we are. If you can't meet him, kill him If you can't meet him hurt him that is the drum of the enemy
But I stand on the rock of ages who gave me life and wisdom Who empowered my parents to educate me I thank Him who gave this unique opportunity
I thank all who criticizes me It makes me strong I thank those who want to pool me down for they make me take precausions
I thank those who love me for they make have a sence of belonging. that good people still exist Your encouragement is my strength.
The measure you mete to me will be measured to you tomorrow so watch out when you plot my downfalls. Somebody is watching my back. Thank you all.

Yes! Poor Me!
I don't care what you call me. just because I act differently.
I have to be myself, And if paradventure I made mistakes, I will learn by it, we learn by making mistakes.
No success without failure, It is failure without success that is miserable.
Call me names, I care not. Just because I don't reason the way you do? You're known for your reasoning, so let me be known for my thinking too.
But how do you reason? yes, reason about Nigeria What is your confession everyday? What is your believe?
You believe Nigeria can't be good? You think she is currupt? And can't get better anymore?
Oh! come to think of it. Rome was not built a day. Don't compare us with America paddy.
America was colonized before, Just like we were, But they rose up to giats of the world. And even superior to to their colonial masters.
Who says we can't be great. I am great, I think greatness. Greatness, my ambition.
When you run down your nation It's not the mansions, roads and trees that is refered to as Nigeria. It's you and I
When you say Nigeria is rotten, worthless and useless. You're idirectly saying to yourself that: You're useless, rotten and worthless. what a self confession.
If you call your golden bucket a mare dustbin. Outsiders will treat it as such. Let's learn how to Promote ourselves by saying good things about Nigeria, By profesying goodness unto her.
The power of live and death is your tongue. Americans promoted themselves and they are hotcakes. Britain said they are Great, and there they are. What are you saying concerning youeself, concerning Nigeria?
I may sound so silly! I have no other home than Nigeria. I believe she will be great and I will be great along. I am greatpeter and 'll be great, I believe.
Nothing can stop me, I can only stop myself And i ain't stop myself. Impossible!
Nigeria, a wealthy nation, Nigeria, a popular nation Nigeria, a valiant nation, the nation of the greats
The most populous black nation in the world. I'm proud to belong, because it shall be well with her.
We might not get it right now. i know we not yet there but someday, we will get it right. The time I can't say, but surely we won't be like this forever We're getting there someday.

Greetings to you.
There was a discussion in HEAVEN as usual and the discussion went as follows: GOD: Angels, do you know what I was just thinking about? ANGELS: What were you thinking about? GOD: Christians seem to have forgotten what kind of power they have available and the devil keeps on deceiving them! ANGELS: God, exactly what are you driving at? GOD: I have made my children in such a way that when the people of the world are sitting, they would be standing, when the world is standing, they will stand out, when the world stands out, my children must be outstanding and when the devil dares the world to be outstanding, My people will be the standards to be used!
JESUS CHRIST: They (Christians) are also forgetting the words in Ephesians 1:3. GOD: Please read it out! ANGEL: PRAISE BE TO THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST WHO HAS BLESSED US IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES WITH EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING IN CHRIST.
ANGEL: So what do we do now since the end is almost near? HOLY SPIRIT: My Presence is still among men and I will teach and remind Christians of all that we have discussed. I will also make sure that they pass this message on!
JESUS CHRIST: I will also keep on interceding for them and stand in for them even in their weaknesses. GOD: I will also make sure that I give to all those who ask of me, seek me and try to find me. The blessings I have promised them through my son Jesus Christ will be delivered to all those who discover that I, Jehovah, I am ready to bless them! Not because of any special things that they have done, but just because I LOVE THEM!
JESUS CHRIST: I will also give all my followers who are willing to pass this conversation on, enough strength to carry on!
ANGELS: We are all backing THE TRINITY and even the devil cannot stop us! How funny! Christians are finally taking over and...
DEVIL (eavesdropping behind the gates): I hope you all heard! I will deploy more troops (demons) and make sure the Christians pray less, read their Bibles less, preach less and make sure this mail does not move anywhere! Also...
YOU SURE HEARD THAT! THE DEVIL WILL MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PASS THIS ON BUT PROVE HIM WRONG AND SHOW HIM THE POWER YOU HAVE IN CHRIST JESUS AS A CHRISTIAN. PRAY MORE, STUDY THE WORD MORE AND PREACH THE WORD! DO NOT DISAPPOINT GOD ! PASS IT ON!

This saying is true "Life they say is not bed of roses" You can be happy now and in a moment mood may change. Such is happening to me right now. No one to talk to. No one to bail you out. those you call confidants are Judas Man will always be man. And God remains unchangeable!
I'm moody right now. i feel depressed and melancholic. I hate whem my friend misquotes and miscontrue me And won't even listen when you're trying to explain. What kind of life is this? No wonder someone posted in this forum the topic "Is life really beautiful?"
One will say it depends on how you handle it. but some spoil your day when you are trying arranging life to sweet you. What! when lover no more lover. What! when confidant no more confidant Only God is be trusted. Man is polluted from the beginning.
Ha! what a pity. God had a good intension for man. But we exchange joy and peace for calamity. Devil stole it all. No wonder life is no more beautiful.
Father suspects son. mother suspects daughter just in this only world of ours I was miscontrued And this pained me alot. What will i do What else can i say life is blue today.
Who will comfort me. who will understand me who will believe me and take me serious it's a pity.
Things has fallen apart. the centre can not hold I'm okay to go to another planet whether there will confidant there But this world is full of suspicious I'm really tired of this world.
Jesus said "will He meet faith when he comes back?" No more faith, no more justice, no more trust, eh no love love has disappeared to thin air what a pity, i'm alone. I'm not worthy to be here anymore. But I'm not dying either i deserve a better place than here Where love, peace, joy and justice reign.
Oh! i deserve something better than this.

Vexxy and Abuguy64 you lighten my spirit up. May you grow from power to power. from strength to strength From glory to glory, honour to honour. May you grow from riches to wealth to affluence God bless you real good.

There is a sin unto death" don't YOU do it!
"Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way and He that hateth reproof shall die" Pro 15:10. When you sin you will be convicted or chastened or a castaway or WOW cut off, killed. This is not joke and I do not say it with glee but sin is serious. It offends God, it defiles the person, it pollutes the world and pleases the devil.
Correction It is very annoying to go out to eat in a nice quiet restaurant and have someone with screaming, fighting kids, whose parents do not correct them for one minute, and they sit at the next table. You can be sure God will not do His children like that. He corrects and he convicts and it is no joke, it is grievous.
Sin unto death "We have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us and we gave them reverence, shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, (unto our heavenly Father), AND LIVE?" Heb 12:9. There is a "sin unto death" 1 Jon 5:16. What is it? I came across this in my Bible study years ago. "He that hateth reproof, shall die." When a Christian hardens his heart and rebels at God's loving chastening (Heb 12:6) grits his teeth and hates the reproof, God will cut him off. I have seen four people do just that and they died. "Sin when it is finished brings forth death" James 1:15. It brings forth spiritual death, separated from God forever to the unbeliever and physical death to the Christian.
Dear people, don't you dare get upset with God when He chastens you. Instead humble yourself, confess that sin that "is ever before you" turn from it, get that joy of your salvation back and return to your first love. More on this . Don't miss it
FAther, bless Your child. Give them "repentance to acknowledge the truth" and bring back that joy of their salvation. In Jesus name

Oh my God when will you deliever us from the hands of these heartless people called our leaders?
They are tyrants now I know. I travelled by road all te way from Lagos to PortHarcourt. And I could see poverty everywhere in face of the people. Our leaders have succeeded in supressing us. We eat when they want us to do so. We speak and breath air when they want us to.
They killed all our refineries and started importing fuel to the detriment of the welfare of all Nigerians. the money goes back to their pocket They put themselves in position and rotate this among themselves Who will be the next president is determined by them and not by ballot.
Fuel price has been increased ten times in six years. posterity will not forgive unless you change your ways. prices of food items and other ommodities have been skyrocketed. What a terrible hardship inflicted on the populace. This is becoming unbearable!
Watch out for more. This is just an introduction.

Maybe, like the pearls hanging from my closet handle You'll carry your own weight, with no light from my candle No, you won't burden my neck with your best that heavy chain of pain won't hang down to my chest.
Oh, but you don't know how beautiful you look on me, The way the light reflects off of you so perfectly I can't help but to pray for an event to take place and I slip this heavy string of perfection around my face.
Please, give me this chance to make you proud I want these pearl covered tears to be my problem now. If only to ease your mind and free your tense shoulders Oh it would mean the world to me, Just to know that you're happy.
Somebody please tell me these pearls are the new trend so I can wear this distraught peice over and over again I'd wrap myself up in your cold, smooth curves and my hands would somehow find the source of your hurt words.

This is my transition period. I'm not talking about death here. But i feel moody and secluded than never
But I think I will survive it. And be man again. I don't know what to write. I think irrationally. Just because of you.
You made me sick And I look like a fool. But I'm not one It's just a matter of time. Justice will prevail and reign again.
I may be called names but I won't be moved Until I get my wish. Until this caterpillar change to a beautiful butterfly. It's a transition time.
It's a trying time. The trial is so strong I bear the brunt alone I sleep less but think much What a life? Ha! this life is not equal.
Now I know I see why why some people commit suicide out of impatience though I won't die that way I will wait for my time. Till my better becomes best.
At the end of a tunnel There is a bright light dispelling darkness Bringing hope and Joy i feel you, feel me too.
Feel my feelings Are you not creatures of God? then think about it again and again. Let not your heart be stolen away. Look here, give me the sole heart.
And let me nurture Till death do us part. Tight we shall hold ourselves and sind the song of love and write prose and poems of romance and love.
I am optimistic it's about to happen. i won't quit. Quitters don't win, Winners don't quit.
What you can't pursue You can't get believe me sincerely. I'll be back.

OWNERS OF NIGERIA! (1)
The Introduction is titled Live and let live(This is the beginning)
After the 419 Gubernatorial and Presidential elections last year ( by 4/19 I mean April 19, coincidentally it means Advanced Fee Fraud and that was exactly what the election was), Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State, the man adjudged as one of, if not the best Governor of 1999-2003 said that his defeat was like a thief coming to rob you of your possession, you are harmless, the only thing you can do is just keep quiet and allow it.
I thought about this and I have come to the conclusion that our situation in Nigeria is like that. But I think I disagree with him in the area of not doing anything to it. This we talk about later on.
Nigeria in the last 44 years has been stolen by a cabal and turned to their own. These few robbers have created dynasties for themselves and they pass us round. I have to call them owners of Nigeria because that is what I think they are and the rest of us are tenants. Who are these people and why are they owners of Nigeria?
They cut across all the geo-political zones of Nigeria. We have them in the West, North, East and South-South, also the Middlebelt. Our living has been subjected to theirs, we live how they want us to live, do what they want us to do, sneeze when they ask us to, eat what they offer us. This is pathetic, but I think we caused it. They are able to do this to us because we allow them to have access to wealth while we remain complacent. We hail them, worship them, sing their praises, kill ourselves because of them, fight each other for them to live. They enjoy seeing us dying, suffering, queueing at the gas stations, running after commuter buses, begging for crumbs from their table, even when it demands that we struggle with their dogs to get it.
We live in the midst of plenty yet we are poor. Many of our children abandoned their school for embassies, because they need visa to go and be slaves in another man’s country. They succeeded in driving our good brains out, so that they will turn our land to a jungle. Nothing works except what they want to make work. They control everything including the air we breathe. While we pay the NEPA bill and don’t enjoy the power, they don’t yet never experienced power failure. We don’t have good water to drink, they waste the ones they have. They make the refineries unworkable and import petroleum products for us with the money going back to their different purses from their refineries outside the country. Many of them have been in the system since the birth of an Independent Nigeria and they are still there, some are replacing themselves with their sons and daughters, and we fold our hands watching helplessly.
They kill and get away with it, maim nothing happens. They call the shots in all facets of our lives. They tell us who is going to be out next President and where he will come from, they write constitution for us, a constitution that has the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob. A constitution unitary in all its features but called federal.
They are not faceless, they are people we see daily, meet daily and sing their praises. Their empire is big. They have the media, banks, police, military, state security and above all government.
One edition of publication cannot talk about these people, but it has taken me time to come out with this and I intend to write a book on these owners of Nigeria.
Though I was born 6 years after the so-called independence, I think as a history student both at my elementary and high school I learnt about Nigerian history and now as an adult I can talk of what happened since independent to date. At a forum in New York on 6/12, I mean June 12 I maintained a position that we only have one Republic in Nigeria, because we have only be ruled by one set of rulers under same system that is cyclic. What I mean is that since 1960 we have been going round the vicious cycle. Or how do you explain the presence of Alhaji Adamu Ciroma, a graduate of History from the University of Ibadan who was appointed a Central Bank governor and has been featuring in one government or the other be it military or civilian, up till 2003. even when he was sick Obasanjo kept his portfolio. Or that of Asiodu Phillip or Rasheed Gbadamosi who has been a government appointee from the age of 21 and now in his 60s teaching us how to hike fuel price(s).
Let me start with the present President of Nigeria and Balogun of Owu, the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces and Chairman of the Owu King makers.
Olusegun Matthew Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo- became a household name in 1976 after the coup that killed Murtala Mohammed on the fateful day of February 13, 1976, I was in primary six then. As we were made to know, Obasanjo had wanted to turn down the offer of ruling Nigeria but had to accept at gun-point. This fable sounds ridiculous, because under no circumstance will a brave man compromise his principle for anything. A soldier as we are made to know do not fear death, they know this from their day one in the military. Let us leave that aside. He ruled Nigeria for 3 years, with iron hand.
It was in his tenure that Akintunde Ojo, who incidentally was his god-son was killed at the University of Lagos in 1978. Professor Ade Ajayi, then Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos lost his job because he attended Akintunde Ojo’s burial. Ebenezer Babatope, Ola Oni and many others lost their jobs as lecturers in various Institutions over the students unrest then. He launched OFN, then called Operation Feed the Nation, little did we know that it was a sample of what we were to see later as Obasanjo Farms Nigeria ( OFN). While Operation Feed the Nation failed, Obasanjo Farms Nigeria did not. It has branches in Ota, Igbo-Ora, Owiwi, and some other places I cannot remember now. He added a secondary school to the farm project Bell School, one of the most expensive high schools in Nigeria. I learnt he is planning to establsh a University. I wonder what knowledge the university will impart on its students. A president that does not have regards for education, who kept university students at home for over 6 months, now planning to establish a university, we need to check on his Bell school to know the minimum wage there first. I n his books “My Command” and “Not My Will” he painted himself as the hero of the Civil war. He stated that what some people struggle all their life to get and they didn’t he got it without sweat. He also confirmed that he voted for NPN in the 1979 elections. When he was the Head of State, one of the Yoruba senior officers had gone to him to discuss the need to restructure the military to favour all ethnic nationality, he called Yar adua and Danjuma to the meeting and asked this man to repeat it , the officer a Major-General repeated it, he left but heard of his retirement on the radio on his way home. Why was he chosen as Head of State in 1976? Not because he was the next to Murtala, no, Babangida gave the reason in 1996 or 1997 when Obasanjo was jailed for the 1995 phantom coup. According to Babangida, Obasanjo is a conformist. They see him, someone who can sell his own brother for a plate of porridge, he did in 1979, did in 1993, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004.
In 1979, he saw the rigging and closed his eyes, Awolowo lost not at the poll but at the desire of Obasanjo and those who put him there. In 1993 he sold out and supported the annulment of June 12 1993 elections. We all remember that there was a movement he then on good governance- Buhari and idiagbon were members, they pulled out after seeing that OBJ supported the annulment and was also talking of new elections and not the de-annulment of the election. This issue caused a rift between him and his childhood friend Onoolapo Soleye, a Sociology lecturer at the University of Ibadan who served as Buhari’s Finance Minister, we still remember the 53 suit cases scandal. Soleye on hearing of the imminent annulment disagreed with OBJ, the argument heated up that Soleye walked stomed out he got to his before he remembered that he has left his agbada in OBJ’s house. In 1998 Abiola was killed for him to become President. In 2001 December 23, Ajibola Ige was killed. Ige until his death was the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, and it is sad that he did not get justice, his killer is now at the National Assembly making laws. In fact he won his election while in jail, unprecedented, it is only in Nigeria, Giant of Africa , in the biggest Political Party in Africa that a murder suspect would be nominated for a position as high as Senator of the Federal republic of Nigeria and the Un-Independent Electoral Commission will clear him. According to Audu Ogbeh he warned them against it. It is sad. And this is what we call democracy. A kind of democracy being administered by robbers, people who stole our mandate through the barrel of gun, made Governors over us stole our money. These are bunch of informal and formal illiterates. What they know about governance is looting of treasury. And in 2004 Ige’s killer was set free.
His recent shameful act at Owu has shown that the man is on a journey of self-destruction. Tunde Bakare came up to speak that Obasanjo was not God sent, he was condemned, but I told people then that they should wait, that God’s time is not our time, it was too early to write off Bakare, I think a lot of people will not see reason in Bakare’s prophecy. Forget about those other pastors fallings on themselves to gain access to the villa. In Old Testament studies, some prophets are categorised as domesticated, they are official prophets, politicians go to them for prophecy to win elections and they bless them. I won’t mention names, but it is unfortunate that we found them in such positions, they see the truth and avoid it because they want recognition. That a country’s president or his wife attends any church’s convention does not make the gathering acceptable before God. God does not respect position. Will Adeboye, Oyedepo, Okonkwo tell the world that Nigeria is okay? What in their own observation works well in Nigeria? Power failure, water failure, crime, insecurity, unemplyment and underemployemnt still persist, under democracy. They cannot see all that because they are too high to see what those at the lower level are going through. They ride the best cars, have guards, they do not know if there fuel crisis because they wont’ queue at the filling stations, their church workers do all that for them, even if the workers will have to join Molue to church. The poor in Nigeria pay tithes, spent by the Pastors for “GOD.”
Well we shall come back to the religious leaders later.
Now the President of Nigeria doubled himself as the head of King makers in his town Owu, someone was picked by the majority of the kingmakers and just one person said NO! This is the man leading Nigeria to the promise land! Sad! Pathetic! What does he know about democracy?
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida- After the coup that brought in Aguiyi Ironsi in 1966, a group of young Northern military officers decided to embark on ethnic cleansing, because they believe the earlier coup was Igbo concentrated as a result they want to avenge the killing of their ancestors. This led to the killing of Aguiyi Ironsi in Ibadan and Adekunle Fajuyi who was the Governor of the Western Region and host of Aguyi Ironsi was killed with him. This brought in 29 year-old Yakubu Gowon as Head of State, by that time, Gowon was a bachelor, one of the members of the group is Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida who, 19 years later became the first Military President of Nigeria.
Before 1983 not much was known by the Nigerian public about Ibrahim Babangida, even in 1983 when he was made the Chief of Army Staff, not many people still know him. He seemed like and underdog, a new face, but this is not true. Even Buhari and Idiagbon did not know much about him. He played a vital role in the coup that toppled Shagari’s government, this he did with the help of his man who was then the Director of Military Intelligence, Aliyu Mohammed Gusau.
Babangida is an adroit politician, he knows his onions, he knows what he wants and how to get it. He pretends to be used when in actual fact he is using his user.
It was not in the plan to make Babangida the Chief of Army Staff after toppling Shagari, the position was for Bako who was to deliver Shagari, but because Babangida needed the position for his eventual take over of government form Buhari, he manouvered and got it. How did he get it? What did he do to displace Bako? All these I wil answer in the second part of this article.
This article is in series, I cannot finish in one edition, this is what I have been doing since May.
Sit back and relax.

OWNERS OF NIGERIA(II)! Under Alhaji Shehu Shagari, the Chadian gendarmes invaded Borno State, and the government ordered the deployment of troops from the 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army to the borders in the North East. This action did not last long as smugglers in the Shagari's government mounted pressure on him to order the withdrawal of the troops, because the presence of the soldiers was preventing them from their smuggling. Alhaji Shehu Shagari ordered the withdrawal of the troops but the General Officer Commanding the 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army, based in Jos knew it was not a wise decision to take, he declined until he was ordered by the Chief of Army Staff, then General Wushishi, the GOC reluctantly withdrew his men and that marked the beginning of the end of Alhaji Shehu Shagari's government. This man was General Muhammadu Buhari. The support of all officers was needed and this group led by Buhari set out to get as many people as they could to their side. There was a man they needed and someone was sent to him. Domkat Bali was the man and the man who went to discuss the coup possibility was Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Bali had told Babangida to still give the politicians time to sort themselves out; but after the 1983 election, Buhari met with Bali on the latter's way to Langtang, he raised the issue of the coup again, it was then it became clear to Bali that Babangida was just delivering message, Bali of course consented and few days later, they struck. One thing that was not clear to Buhari and others was that there was another coup within their own coup. The position of the Chief of Army Staff was for Bako, the man who was to deliver Shagari, but Babangida was also interested in that same position. He knew why he wanted it. It was to position himself for eventual take over from Buhari. All the General Officers Commanding report to the Chief of Army Staff, that was the chain of command before 1985. They do not report to the Head of state or President directly, and to succeed in any coup, you need these GOCs, since they are in direct contact with the soldiers and whatever may be needed for the coup, in terms of troops, weapons and ammunitions. To displace Bako, a plan was hatched to bring someone in to coordinate the coup in Abuja, the man now a Senator was recalled from Harare where he was serving, though he was to coordinate the coup in Abuja, his actual mission was to stop Bako. Eventually Bako died in the coup allegedly shot from the back. But no one ever queried that. That he was shot from the back showed clearly that he did not die during gun battle but was killed. It was a case of a coup within a coup. At the early stage of the coup planning, Ibrahim Babangida was sent to General Domkat Bali, to feel the latter's pulse. Bali advised him to give the civilian time to sort themselves out. To Bali it was Babangida who was planning the coup, but it dawned on him that Babangida was not the man behind the coup but an errand boy. He was on his way to Langtang and he stopped over to say hi to the GOC 3rd Armoured Division, Jos, Buhari was the GOC and it was then that Buhari now asked Bali again if it was time to strike, this is about the end of 1983 and Bali said yes. They struck and Shagari was removed. Bali was in that government, though he was the most senior officer, Babangida was made the Chief of Army Staff. Some of Babangida's seniors were forced to retire because they could not stand him being their chief, but they paid dearly for it. Zamani Lekwot was one of them, and this was why he was arrested for the Sango Kataf crisis, he was roped into the crisis by IBB to get even with the man. Thank God Zamani Lekwot is still alive to tell his stories. As Chief of Army Staff, he was able to win some of the GOCs; Abacha was the GOC 2nd Mechanised Division, Ibadan then. He used the office judiciously. But before the Buhari coup, when Shagari took over, Babangida and some Northern officers had advised against leaving Alani Akinrinade as Chief of Army Staff, to them, it was not safe for Shagari, the Grade II teacher and Nigeria's first (s)elected Executive President knew nothing, he was advised to ease out Akinrinade. How did they achieve this? The position that never existed in the history of the Nigerian Army was created and after their aim was achieved it was scrapped. Shagari asked Akirinade to write a blue print on duties of a Chief of Defence Staff a new position to be created; the unsuspecting Akinriande did not know he was preparing his new office. He was later made the Chief of Defence Staff. With Akinrinade's promotion to redundancy, Gen Jalo, now late, became the Chief of Army Staff. Something happened that never happened in the history of the Nigerian Army and did not happen there after. The post of a Deputy Chief of Army Staff was created and General Wushishi was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff. Babangida led the group of those who contrived the concept of the D-COAS. Having being isolated, Lt. Gen. Alani Akinrinade retired and Jalo was made the Chief of Defence Staff while Wushishi became the COAS and the position of D-COAS was scrapped. Ironically, the same Babangida who schemed out Akinrinade now invited him back to serve in his government and surprisingly Akinrinade accepted.
When Buhari took over power at gun point, it was their thinking that Nigerians need a change of attitude. War Against Indiscipline was launched. We were to queue at bus stops, public places, it became an offence to litter, urinate in the public. A day was set aside monthly for environmental sanitation. Buhari/Idiagbon thought of addressing the problem of inflation created by Shagari and his army of politicians, this they did by changing the currency and those who have stolen money could not bring them out. Many of them at the time were in detention, they lost it all. But with a government, getting Nigeria out of external debt, changing the psyche of Nigerians and raising hope of a better and disciplined citizenry, what could bring about its ouster? Babangida, Abacha, Joshua Dongoyaro, Abubakar Umar, Abdul Mumini, Tanko Ayuba, Tunde Ogbeha, David Mark, Lawan Gwadabe and others that I cannot remember have answers to this question.
In 1985 August, Babangida using the crop of Mid-riff officers struck and took over power from Buhari. Why they struck is still sketchy but we know some of those who supported the take over then. One prominent name and personality was late Chief M.K.O Abiola, he supported the coup morally and financially and he benefited immensely from it. Col. Abubarkar Umar, Abdulmummini, Gwadabe were among the mid-riff officers used, they were Majors; there was Tunde Ogbeha and David Mark now Senators. They played prominent roles in the ouster of Buhari's government. The best military government so far in the history of Nigeria. This is subject to debate and it is open. If we compare the Buhari's government to Babangida we know that the difference is clear. While one succeeded in instilling discipline in Nigerians, the other encouraged it and institutionalised corruption. I wonder why Col. Abubakar Umar served Babangida's government for that long seeing all that happened, the stealing, looting, killings, annulment of June 12 1993 elections and still has the moral gut to write to Obasanjo, leaving out Babangida. This is my problem with Umar. In as much as I would have respected his views on Obasanjo, I think he is guilty of double standard. He knew what happened on June 12, he was part of it, let him come out and tell us. He has no excuse to have served under one of the world's adjudged worst military government in Nigeria and he feels he is democratic. He owes Nigerians the duty of telling them what happened during the June 12, why sparing Babangida and taking on Obasanjo.
It was Joshua Dogonyaro who announced the coup. Which was a blessing to the politicians, some of Babangida's friends and one of his very good friends, Aliyu Mohammed Gusau. Of course MKO Abiola supported the coup because he fell out of favour with the Buhari/Idiagbon government. It was part of Buhari/Idiagbon government's policy that the Oku-Iboku Newsprint Company must be patronised and no Newspaper publisher should import newsprint from overseas. MKO imported newsprints and they were seized by the Buhari/ idiagbon government.
At the inception of the Buhari/Idiagbon government a panel was set up to probe the rice importation scandal and the person behind it turned out to Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, Shagari's Director of Military Intelligence. This earned him retirement from the military. As soon as Babangida came in, Gusau was reinstated. It never happened before Gusau and after him. The information that nailed Gusau was released by Rafindadi, the Nigeria Security Organisation Director who took over from Umar Shankafi under Shagari. Shinkafi, being aware of the plot to topple Shagari, and for some reasons known to him, tendered his resignation letter on health ground, but never hinted Shagari of the plot. Rafindadi was then appointed, Rafindadi is a Daura man like Buhari, and it was easy for them to plot the coup, since they now have their man as NSO Director. But Rafindadi paid for letting the information on Gusau out. Gusau while under Shagari had got a $1m importation license for rice. And when Babangida came in, Rafindadi was arrested, and detained for a long time. Hence his appearance at the Oputa panel, Babangida and Gusau knew what Rafindadi would have revealed to the whole world and that explained why they didn't show up.
When he took over power in 1985, he withdrew the oversight function of the Chief of Army Staff on the GOCs to his office and made Abacha the Chief of Army Staff. Abacha was just there without control on the GOCs. The GOCs were directly responsible to the Head of State.
As soon as he took over power, Babangida opened up a debate on the political ideology Nigeria wanted, money was spent, and the Political bureau went round the country. Nigerians, according to the Political Bureau's findings wanted Socialism, but Babangida said he was not ready to impose an ideology on Nigerians. What about the IMF debate? We debated and he said, no,but what we got was IMF through the back door in the name of Structural Adjustment Programme. We have not recovered from the adjustment. It was adjustment from good to bad, wealth to penury, sqalour. The man-Evil Genius changed our lives. It became unlawful to serve in government without stealing. You must steal as a government official and no one will arrest you. It was Babangida who made the likes of Bolaji Akinyemi. Professor Bolaji Akinyemi is closely related to Sonny Okogwu Marayam Babangida's elder brother. In actual fact, Sonny Okogwu once lived with Bolaji Akinyemi's father. It was through this that he met Babangida which eventually gave him the NIIA job and eventually the Foreign Affairs Minister job. Mike Okhai Akhigbe, the king pin of the illegal bunkering mafia, also benefited from Babangida. Olabode George, the loud mouth of PDP, chairman of Nigeria Ports Authority and the Deputy National Chairman of PDP South, also benefited from Babangida. Did he know anything about Bola Ige's death? Ask Atiku, it is pity Sunday Afolabi is dead, we would have asked him too.
In 1986 after the alleged coup plot of Mamman Vatsa, Babangida began the demobilization of the Nigerian Air Force. He actually wanted to scrap it and merge it with the Airborne of the Nigerian Army, but stopped for Ibrahim Alfa's sake. Ibrahim Alfa was the Chief of Air Staff and played a prominent role in the removal of Buhari and Idiagbon. It was Alfa who went with Idiagbon to Mecca on Hajj. It was part of their plan to execute the coup when Idiagbon would not be around, so at the Supreme Military Council Meeting, Alfa and others joined in voting Idiagbon as the head of the Federal Government delegate to the Hajj and Alfa had to go with him to monitor him there. So IBB had to respect him and left the Air force untouched but redundant. The Air force personnel were only in uniform but empty in terms of tools. This lasted up to Abacha's era. Babangida did it because of the fact that Mamman Vatsa and his group were alleged to have planned to use the AirForce to take over power in 1986.
What happened to Nigerian educational system? What was behind the introduction of the so-called 6-3-3-4? What role did Jubril Aminu play in Babanigida's government, what about the April 20, 1990 revolution? Chief Obafemi Awolowo died in 1987. What killed him? They said heart attack. Is this true? On 26 September, 1992, Nigeria lost a generation of mid-riff officers in the C-130 plane crash. Who did it? What about the families of those who died in the crash?

OWNERS OF NIGERIA!(3) In October 1986, on a Sunday two things happened to Africa and one particularly affected Nigeria. Samora Machel of Mozambique died in a plane crash, Dele Giwa, the founding Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch Magazine was killed through a letter bomb. It was a shock to us all; a new dimension into killing in the history of Nigeria was launched. Sadly no one has been named officially for the killing. The reason is clear, we all know it. That the government killed Dele Giwa. Which government? What do we mean by government? Not you, not me. We know that Nigerian government does not involve us the masses, the government is personified in the leader, so when we say government, we mean, Badamasi Babangida. Will Florence Ita-Giwa serve under Babangida if he becomes Nigerian President? This is so crystal clear. No individual in Nigeria had access to what was used to kill Dele Giwa except the military. Giwa had received a call from Halilu Akilu that morning to confirm if he was in. we do not know why he was killed, but the rumour is that he had information on Gloria Okon. Gloria Okon was arrested by the Buhari/Idiagbon government for drug trafficking, she was detained. And few days later, the news came that she had died in detention of food poison. Who killed Gloria? We were waiting for that when Buhari was toppled. Well some people benefited from the death of Dele Giwa, the chairman of the board of director of the magazine, chief Alex Akinyele became a minister under Babangida. It was said that dele Giwa had information on what actually happened to Gloria Okon.
We do not know if this was the reason. Someone also died around that time, Dan Archibong, Military Governor of Cross River State under Babangida. It was reported that he died in a car accident on his way back to Cross River. He was in Lagos on the invitation of the Military President Babangida. But we did not see the car that killed Archibong, was he driving alone at the time of the accident? Was it a collision of two cars? A governor under the military as we know travel with escorts, but what happened to Archibong? He got killed on the Gloria Okon-related issue.
Odeleke, husband of Bola Odeleke the woman Bishop, until his death was a Colonel in the Nigerian Army. He was in Abuja to attend a meeting summoned by President Babangida, what we later heard was that, while on short break, Odeleke was killed by a hit-and-run car in Abuja, in day light! The hit-and-run driver was not arrested. But where did this happen? Who was there to know it was a hit-and-run driver. Someone must have been watching to see it happen, but who was this 3rd eye? Why was his funeral rushed? They didn't even wait for his wife to see his remains before burial. Why the rush? They didn't want them to see that he was shot and not knocked down by a car. Just as Archibong was killed and arranged like an accident.
While the killings go on, the military government of Babangida opened the way for Advanced Fee Fraud. He started the Finance Houses; fraudsters to swindle used this. Forum Group was one, Ade Bendel, Fred Ajudua, late Maurice Ibekwe and others.
On education, Jubril Aminu was made the Education Minister and we had 6-3-3-4 from the government, we also had nomadic education. According to the 6-3-3-4 policy, we have 6 years of elementary education, first 3 years of junior high school, second 3 years of senior high school and the last 4 years for university education. No mention of Polytechnic or College of Education.
You spend more than four years in Polytechnic, first two years for Ordinary Diploma, and you might decide not to go back for your Higher National Diploma, the College of Education has three year for Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). At that time, Teacher Training College education was scrapped. Surprisingly, the scrapping took place in the South it did not affect the north. I did my National Youth Service (NYSC) in Borno State, Buba Marwa, then a Lt. Col. Was the Governor of Borno State (1990-1991).
In the north then, after the first three years in high school, students are transferred to Teachers College to complete their last three years in High school; they also have Senior Science secondary School, something that does not exist in the south. Though their Instructional Laboratories were well equipped, there were no teachers to teach. They buy uniform for their students, feed them, and even give them transport fare to go home and come back to school. It was a ploy to slow down our education in the south. The 6-3-3-4 was just a ruse; it has not showed any meaningful impact on the social-economic development of Nigeria, because it was not meant for that, neither did the nomadic education made the northern nomads educated. I taught JSS I-III Christian Religious Knowledge, SS I-II English Language and Economics and the SS III Literature in English, this I did with BA (hons) religious studies. My friend and roommate, a graduate of Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin, now a Medical Doctor, taught Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. We were not given any extra allowance for all these. We lived on our 350 naira/month allowance. It was at Government Girls Secondary School, Gajiganna, Borno State. The village had no electricity, we lived on generator for 6 hours daily, from 6pm-12am. It is on Baga road, few miles away from Lake Chad. Funny enough that is where the NNPC depot is located and it is just about 1 hour from late general Sani Abacha's village.
In 1987, Chief Obafemi Awolowo died. It was a shock to Nigerians, not because the death was untimely, not because he died at a tender age, but we were not expecting that the man would die so soon even at his age. He was seen dead on the floor in his bathroom. What could kill Baba Awolowo? They said cardiac arrest. Is this true? The rumour then was that Pa Awolowo committed suicide after he was confronted by IBB on some findings. Let us say this is true, (which can never be anyway), what could have been the issue that Chief Awolowo would have to take his life for? The life he did not take during the treasonable felony trial. If he did not commit suicide, what killed him? It is known that one of his last visits was to Dodan Barracks, the landlord of Dodan Barracks entertained him. Did he drink tea like MKO Abiola?
It was Babangida who created the concept of NEW BREED Politicians. New breed politicians with the backings of Old Politicians. The late Musa Yar'Adua, Bola Ige, Adamu Ciroma, and others were banned. Yar'Adua saw something in Atiku Abubakar, and asked him to resign from the Customs to join politics. Atiku left Customs in 1991 or thereabout to become a new breed politician. Babangida asked the politicians to form political associations, they did, but he eventually gave them NRC & SDP. He wrote the constitution and provided money for them to run the parties. Our politicians without any iota of principle jumped at it, since all they wanted was power, they do not care how they get it. They organised primary elections, surprisingly Yar'Adua won in the West beating Falae. This feat was achieved with the help of the amala and gbegiri politician, Lamidi Adedibu. Babangida annulled it, banned them, and MKO Abiola came on the scene. Before this time, MKO Abiola never saw anything wrong in Babangida's goal post shifting, he was IBB's spokesman, appealing to Nigerians to bear with IBB and support him. I save the rest on Abiola till when I get there. I never believed Abiola will rule Nigeria. I had told my friends in 1993, they didn't believe me, we fought over this and I think they owe me apology now.
On May 30 1989, we Nigerian University students embarked on what was called SAP riot, but it was a peaceful demonstration to liberate ourselves from perpetual economic slavery of Babangida and his colonial masters. The then Gbenga Olawepo (NANS PRO) and a student of University of Lagos, was in South Korea to represent Nigerian Students at a world conference. Babangida had sent his SSS as Nigerian students, but the then Olawepo went and presented the true situation of Nigeria at the conference. We all saluted his courage then. This was embarrassing to Babangida, who declared Olawepo wanted, at that time Gbenga Komolafe, Student Union Speaker of University of Ibadan was also wanted. Olawepo was eventually arrested when he came back to the country; Komolafe too was arrested at Dugbe in Ibadan. Both were first detained at Shangisa, but got transferred to Kirikiri when they caught their middleman who went to deliver message to Mr. Femi Falana. The SSS man was arrested and sent to another jail, we don't know where and what happened to him till date. These guys were in detention for 6 months or more than that. At this time, 6 Universities were shut by Babangida for their involvement in the Anti-SAP demonstration. The Universities were not opened untill November 1989 from May 30. This actually marked the beginning of irregular academic calendar in our Universities, and it also greatly affected the exchange programme with foreign universities, many professors left our universities and things have not been the same since then.
After their release, they came to UI and we drove them round the campus in a Coaster bus, I remember, it was at night. Unfortunately, now it was a waste. We have lost Gbenga Olawepo. He is not dead, but politically he is gone. I almost cried the day I saw Olawepo on the NTA Tuesday live defending PDP and Obasanjo's government. At first, I didn't believe it was the same Gbenga I had listened to at rallies in the 80s, passionately talking about our beloved country, Nigeria, can now align with the same people who jailed, maimed and totured him. This is a crazy world. Bode Ojomu has also become a government contractor and a PDP member. Ojomu had been involved in student union activism from his days at the Oyo State College of Arts and Sciences (OSCAS). Then Gbenga Komolafe was the President and Bode was the Speaker, but when they got to UI, they both changed position. I will dwell more on this when I get to "Repositioning Student movement." On this, I intend to trace the origin of the present crisis rocking the student movement in Nigeria and make some suggestions. I could not believe my eyes the day I saw Bode Ojomu at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. This was in 2000, he was there as a contractor and later discovered that he is a card-carrying member of PDP. I still salute Adewale Bashar and Gbenga Komolafe who stood firm on their ideology and did not falter. Today, like the Apostle Paul, Gbenga Olawepo a former anti-Babangida is now Pro-Babangida. This is a tragedy!
It is very sad to see him thrown out of PDP in a disgraceful manner. Obasanjo, using Atiku as a smoke screen expelled him from PDP. Olawepo, late Harry Marshal and Emmanuel Ibeshi were pro-Obasanjo elements in PDP, but a plot was hatched by Atiku and with Obasanjo's approval, they were expelled without regard to court's restraining order. We shall talk more on their expulsion under Atiku in part V.
In 1990 April 20, we woke up to another Marshal song, it was a revolution, not a coup. Contrary to general opinion, it succeeded, but they were not able to seize power. I said it succeeded because we all got the message of the proponents of this revolution. For the second time, we failed to yield to the wake-up call. The first time was in 1967 when Odumegwu Ojukwu started the revolution, it was termed civil war, and Obasanjo is now claiming the glory of ending the war leaving out the likes of Benjamin Adekunle and the important role Pa Awolowo played in ending the "war." The second call came from Major Mukoro and his group, Gideon Orkar paid with his life. Rather than support them, we termed them tribalists. The likes of General Oladipo Diya, then GOC 82 Mechanised Division in Enugu came on air to condemn the revolution, Raji Rasaki too in Lagos did not support it. Though Ishaya Rizi Bamaiyi claimed the glory of stopping the revolt in Lagos, it was General Zidon Gandi who actually deserved the glory. Zidon was in Ikeja Cantonment as a Commander at that time, but because Zidon has problem expressing himself, all he said on that Sunday was "the dissidents have been dislodged." This was a turning point in Babangida's life. But for Sani Abacha, Babangida would have been dead by now. What did Abacha do? He saved and haboured Babangida and his family on that Sunday night. Where was Babangida's deputy, Augustus Aikhomu? Oh, he was in a boat holding party with friends.
Though the ECOWAS Monitoring Group ECOMOG was set up to give helping hands to fellow West African countries, but the genuine intention of the creator was to settle score with the 123 Brigade Battalion, Ikeja Military Cantonment because of their alleged role in the April 20, 1990 revolution. They stayed in Liberia for two years and was later disbanded. The military under Babangida, according to his former Chief of Army Staff, Salihu Ibrahim, was an "anything goes military." Under Babangida we had a military infected with corruption, this period produced a large number of military millionaires. Promotion and appointments were not done strictly on merit but on godfatherism. Babangida's regime laid the foundation of what Nigerians later experienced under late Sani Abacha.
On September 26, 1992 another Sunday, over 168 mid-riff officers were killed in a plane crash at the Ejigbo swamp, Lagos. The Officers were the 15th Course of the Senior Division of the Command and Staff College, Jaji. It was the first time in the world that a nation's military will lose such a number of officers in an accident in a day, not even in war situation.
I shall conclude Babangida in the next part and begin with MKO Abiola.
What was the link between Abiola and the Military? What about the ITT, June 12 and all that?
When Babangida annulled the Presidential primaries of SDP & NRC, it angered Yar'Adua and some other politicians; he also banned them from contesting. MKO Abiola did not see anything wrong in the annulment. As it was an opportunity for him to contest. Earlier, his late wife Simbiat had kicked against the idea of MKO going into politics. But after her death in late 1992, MKO saw the opportunity to fulfill his life ambition, of having both economic and political power. He joined SDP and no sooner, like Obasanjo did in PDP launched his campaign for Presidency "Hope 93," then I called it "Hopeless 93."
This did not receive the blessing of his former business partner, Shehu Musa Yar'Adua. Baba Gana Kingibe, once the National Chairman of SDP also indicated interest in presidency; this drew the ire of Yar'Adua more than MKO's. Yar"Adua, Abiola, Bamanga Tukur and Raymond Dopeksi were partners in African Ocean Lines a multi-million Dollar shipping business. Tukur and Dopeksi are experienced hands in marine while Yar'Adua a lucky guy who retired as Major-General at the age of 36, and Abiola contributed money. The business collapsed, and there was a rift between Abiola and Yar'Adua, but they still have Habib Bank. I save the rest on MKO till when I get there.
Eventually, we had the Presidential election on 12 June, 1993. It was between Tofa and Abiola. Tofa and Sylvester Ugoh, his running did not have voters card, as a result they didn't vote on the election date. After IBB had shifted dates from 1990 to 1993. In all, IBB spent 50 Billion Naira on a transition to no where.
There was an unwritten agreement between Babangida and Abacha that the former will hand over power to the latter by 1990, this didn't work out and the late Abacha didn't like it. There were moves to stop the June 12 election. Arthur Nzeribe went to court, got an injunction to stop the election through his Association for Better Nigeria (ABN). Professor Omo Omoruyi in many of his press interviews also mentioned a meeting with Babangida and Professor Humphrey Nwosu, the NEC Chairman, where the idea of suspending the election came up. Babangida was strongly advised against it.
Why would Babangida, the man with great vision and who meant well for Nigeria, want to postpone the election? Babangida or any of his sponsored or unsolicited spokespersons should tell us.
Nigerians voted and SDP had 14 million votes. Suddenly we had the news that the announcement of the election result has been suspended and that the election has been annulled. The release was on a plain sheet of paper without signature.
But what happened then was that some Nigerians knew before the annulment that the election would be annulled and that there would be an interim government. General Olusegun Obasanjo, late Major-General Shehu Musa Yar'Adua, and Chief Tony Anenih-the then National Chairman of SDP- knew about the annulment. While this was on, Sani Abacha was scheming too. Abacha's scheming and how Lt. Gen. Oladipo Diya was used as a pun would be discussed when we get to Abacha.
In 2000 or thereabout, some Nigerians organized a conference in Jos, Plateau State. The organizers of this conference were Babangida's beneficiaries, those IBB raised from nobody to somebody in the world of looting and misgovern ace. We have his former Foreign Affairs Minister, former Apostle of SAP, former District Officers (Military Governors) and many other contractors without offices in attendance. Their agenda was to take over power. This in actual fact created panic in Aso Rock.
Then Obasanjo and Babangida were having some misunderstanding on someone. Who? Turaki Adamawa, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku. I am not going to talk about why now, but I will talk about the moves IBB made and the outcome of the Jos conference. Was the move to impeach Obasanjo part of it? No. who wanted Obasanjo removed? Later.
After the coup that removed Chief Sunday Awoniyi, Bamanga Tukur, Chief Ume Ezeoke, late Harry Marshal, Emmanuel Ibeshi, and Gbenga Olawepo from PDP, there were moves to form political associations to fight PDP. National Frontier was formed by Chief Awoniyi and other members expelled from PDP, but it did include Ibeshi, Olawepo and Marshal. National Frontier took its name from Arewa Frontier, the Youth wing of Arewa. Babangida's guys too came up about two associations. But the Awoniyi group sounded more serious and could command more respect than the IBB's association. Though Babangida denied involvement, but one of his alter egos, Chief Alex Akinyele, the Lobosin of Ondoland, came on AIT to link IBB with it. He said he joined because of IBB; this didn't go down well with IBB.
Their plan was to form many associations, make one vocal and distance the rest from IBB. UNDP became very vocal, was very critical of Obasanjo's government. Before this, IBB's group attempted an alliance with National Frontier, but it did not work out. And Kenny Martins was used to divide National Frontier (NF). NF was divided and Awoniyi withdrew. That was a very good strategy to get rid of potential threats. After the exit of Awoniyi, they took over NF and fused it to UNDP. Aikhomu led another group to APP and they took over APP, changed it to ANPP. This was revealed by one of IBB's ally in Ibadan. According to him, they will create a decoy for Obasanjo. NDP is another IBB association. They had attempted to use the garrulous Pastor Chris Okotie as a south west presidential candidate. Okotie had gathered journalists in his church for support and to block negative publicity in the media. While it lasted, he was receiving briefing from Minna. He was able to pocket a number of media editors. But he was dropped after some considerations. The concert at the National stadium was sponsored from Minna, they also promised him that his famous broadcast on AIT would be translated into Arabic and Hausa and aired in the North. He was to go to Kano for another show when the drum beat changed. He did not know until the night of the long knife at the International Conference center Abuja, when he lost to Ike Nwachukwu.
But between the ends of 2001 to early 2002, Mr. Fix-it (Anenih) mediated between IBB and his former oga. Atiku got wind of Anenih's visit to Minna, he was angry and PDM was split into two, Yar'adua's Political machinery. Who master-minded the Obasanjo declaration of April 26 2002? Why was Atiku absent? Why did Obasanjo first declare on a presidential chat of the April 26 2002 night on FRCN that his running mate would be known after the PDP primaries and three days later, through Tunji Oseni, his Special Adviser on Media Affairs, announced Atiku as his running mate? Many questions begging for answers. All coming under Atiku.
Foot note:
While it is not in my character to respond to some side talks, because it amounts to waste of time and unnecessary distraction, I think it is good to set the record straight.
This is not an attempt to attack any individual but to remind ourselves of the damage these people have done to us, and why they don't deserve to be where they are today. To be rich in Nigeria today, you cut corners. Yes, no civil servant can afford to own property, to buy tokunbo cars; you need cash, minimum of 300,000 naira. Where can an average Nigerian get this? Many of those who live abroad forget that what they enjoy our people back home don't. If the government is good, why do our boys abandoned their university education in pursuit of visa abroad? Why do we have our Professors, Medical Practioners, lawyers, Engineers and other professionals scattered in Europe and America?
Babangida meant well and he had vision. Yes. He meant well for himself, and had vision for himself. He created Directorate of Road and Rural Infrastructure, Mass Mobilisation for Self Reliance, Peoples' Bank. Where did all these end? They were avenues of stealing. Conduit pipes for looting. We have also been making mistakes judging the success of some governments as good because of the involvement of some personalities. Most of these personalities, we found to be inconsistent. The say one thing today and do another tomorrow. That late Tai Solarin served in Peoples Bank does not give Babangida's government credence. He brought the likes of Solarin in to humiliate them, which he did. Tai Solarin was appointed chairman of People's Bank, without fund to run the bank and with no power. I remember that Tai Solarin after quitting tendered apology. He admitted he made a mistake. Tai Solarin who once vowed never to wear Agbada, who once said that it is only a lazy man that wears agbada, wore it as Chairman of Peoples Bank.
What was the state of our economy before August 1985 and from 1985 to 1993?
Heaven, they say, help those who help themselves.

Dear Brothers, Friends and Fellow Youths, It beats my fathom that sane youths like you could still be available in "Our father land", and i'm lost in the woods the more when these youths are not politically savvied. I want you to take some time and make a sober reflection about your age now, though i do not know how old you may be now but you obviously sounded youthful, based on the mails i recieved recently, and equate your social know - how with other youths the world all over, i know that by the time you are done you may be forced to weep for us the condemned youths, in soyinka's words " a wasted generation". I am not writing this to make you gloomy, but to make us know the truth. The popular islamic sage Othman Dan Fodio said and i quote "conscience is an open wound only truth can heal". Thanks so much on your stand, especially on some missing points in the owners of Nigeria, i am not a politician so i'm not canvassing for votes. I only want us to wake from our slumbers, Nigerian youths are so passive! what is actually wrong with us? It may not be important knowing me for now, but the message contained there in is what we must endeavour to preach to every Nigerian youth who is less than 35 yrs. We must be good history students to be able to understand where we are heading to, since many of us don't even know where we were coming from. My schism was borne out of disappointment from the so called models( ordinary mortals or spirit -mortals) of yester years! they have led us into crass disarray and left us in this cesspit of morasses refered to as ONE NIGERIA. My choice of youths under 35 yrs was that most known messiahs in our different religious faiths came and performed their messiahic missions between ages 30 and 40yrs. Remember that Our Lord Jesus Christ lived for just 33 years and you can attest to his wonderful deeds. Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) did most of his works before the age of 40. Please relax and read the continuation of the litany of atrocities perpetuated by the ursurpers of our God given greatness, fortunes, and above all freedom, yet they still want us to remain perpetually down with so much semantics about reforms/ policies which we all know will NEVER work with these people hopping about with shoulders high been guarded by mobile Police escorts, with most of them still in power. THEN HOW CAN REFORMS IN THE FACE OF THESE TYRANTS WORK? But even if we must accept to be down, then you must also remember that he that is down needs fear no fall.
OWNERS OF NIGERIA!(4) Late Chief MKO Abiola meant different things to different people. To some he was a man they hate to love and love to hate, to others he was a generous man, kind, shrewd business man. By 1992, he won the hearts of many Nigerians, became their hero and idol. Suddenly he became a hero of democracy in Nigeria.
Many supported him for different reasons, some as a sign of their appreciation for his generosity, others because of what they needed from him, some because of a way to get even with him. A way of paying back.
No one has disputed that Bashorun Abiola won the June 12, 1993 presidential elections. This is a fact and the election remained the fairest and freest in the history of Nigeria. Then what happened? Was the election for a wrong candidate at the wrong time or wrong candidate at the right time or a right candidate at the wrong time?
It still remains a puzzle to many that a man with so much money and influence could win an election and such election annulled. Not even his friends in the military could stop it?
Chief MKO Abiola was not only important in Nigeria; he was around the globe, even in Uganda. At least he assisted Musevini to take over power in Uganda. He made his presence felt in all facets of life, business, sports, name it; but along the line, he made more friends as he made more enemies. I still remember what he said when he was honored with the Are Ona Kankanfo title in Oyo by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. The then governors of Oyo, Ogun and Ondo were not present but Babangida sent his representative, Abiola then referred to these governors as eaglet governors, because they ignored his coronation. One of the governors was General Adetunji Olurin who was in Oyo State then. I will touch on this when I get to Abacha.
He lost his mandate, freedom for four years and lastly his life; all to people he considered as friends. How did this happen?
When General Abdusalami Abubakar took over after the death of General Sani Abacha, many had thought that Abiola would be the first on the list to be released from detention, but no, it was their man, Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo came out of prison, did not make any move to get Abiola out of detention. He kept mute on Abiola, and some months after Abiola's death, he came out to announce his intention to run for Presidency.
Why would Abiola suffer such humiliation from these guys? What went wrong?
The answer is very simple. Chief MKO Abiola rode on the back of TIGER for many years and tragically ended in its stomach.
I came, like many other Nigerians, to know about the man Abiola through the ITT stuff. I am sorry I don't know the meaning of ITT except for the meaning late Abami Eda- Fela Anikulapo, may his soul rest in peace, gave it; no other meaning could be more accurate-INTERNATIONAL THIEF THIEF.
ITT is a telecommunication company that got the contract to install telephone booths in Nigeria, I think in preparation for the FESTAC 77. What ITT supplied were refurbished telephone booths, mere decorations that never worked. This was the company Abiola represented. Late General Murtala Mohammed was the Federal Commissioner for Communications, then before he took over from Yakubu Gowon in 1976. A lot of other myths came up on how Chief Abiola became a top-notch of ITT, I don't have the details and I am not going to say what I don't know. But the fact was that he got the Federal government then to pay for the contract. For this long he has always been seen at the corridor of power. Wining and dining with the khaki guys.
In 1978 he was at the Constituent Assembly where he walked out because the likes of Baba Awolowo and others refused to include Sharia in the Nigerian constitution at the Federal level. It is on record that he did not sign the constitution of 1979 because of this. He became a strong member of National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and did everything in Ogun State to upstage Baba Awolowo's Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), I saw most of his activities as a High school student . Many may not know that Concord Newspaper was set up then to fight Baba Awolowo and his party in the south west. We cannot forget so quickly that it was same Concord Newspaper that published the story of Dideolu Estate allegedly owned by Chief Awolowo to show that the late sage was not what he professed to be. It was intended to report that Baba Awolowo was not a socialist as he claimed but also owned property. How they got the document is another story.
But in 1983 when it was time for another election, Chief Abiola attempted to run and Alhaji Umaru Dikko told him that the Nigerian Presidency was not "for sale;" Alhaji Shehu Shagari got nominated again and MKO Abiola left politics.
He became more visible during the Ibrahim Babangida's 8 years of misrule. He was practically involved and became Babangida's spokesperson. He was an astute defender of Babangida's policies until after the annulment of June 12, 1993 elections. To show their closeness, Chief MKO traded his editor to Babangida as Chief Press Secretary. It is also no more news that he supported the coup against Buhari/Idiagbon. Bayo Onanuga left African Concord as Editor because he could not go and apologize to Babangida over a story published that led to the closure of the Magazine. Abiola had spoken to Onanuga to apologize and Onanuga preferred opting out to begging IBB.
He bought Sierra-Leone Airline, had Concord Airline, and had his largest farm in Dakar, Senegal, not in Nigeria. He had Summit oil etc.
After the annulment of the 1992 presidential primaries of NRC & SDP, Chief MKO Abiola indicated interest in running for presidency "after due consultations," but he had Alhaji Babagana Kingibe, former National Chairman of the party, and Musa Yar'Adua to contend with. Yar'Adua did not contest, but someone was representing his interest, Abubakar Atiku.
At the Jos Convention of the SDP, Abiola lost the first round to Babagana Kingibe, but because Kingibe did not make the simple majority, the trio of Kingibe, Abiola and Atiku had to go for run-off. This was where Yar'Adua came in, he disappeared, but through his father, he gave Atiku to Abiola to spite Kingibe. Abiola won the second round and he became the flag bearer of SDP. From this time on, Abiola's political naivety reared its head. He made some political miscalculation that later cost him his life.
After the primaries in Jos, Bashorun Abiola thought winning the ticket was enough victory, he did not know that in the school of power struggle, you win and consolidate your victory. This was his mistake number one.
Just after the primaries, the party conducted its National Executive Council election. Surprisingly, Bashorun Abiola did not sponsor a single candidate. Yar'Adua sponsored Tony Anenih and he became the National Chairman of the party; in actual fact most of the executive members were PDM men (Peoples Democratic Movement), Yar'Adua's political machine.
Number two error was his choice of Kingibe as Vice. But he could not have done otherwise. 14 out of 20 Governors of SDP then were sponsored by Kingibe when he was the National Chairman. These governors, including one from the south west had insisted on Kingibe or they would not guarantee SDP victory in their States. After 68 meetings, Kingibe was picked as Abiola's running mate instead of Atiku. This did not go down well with Yar'Adua, who had wanted to deal with Kingibe.
Number 3 error. Abiola did not have a political movement, unlike Yar'Adua, just like his town's man who is like a mercenary in PDP. Planted on the party by Babangida and Aliyu Mohammed Gusau.
These three fundamental errors made it easy for him to let the mandate given to him by over 14 million Nigerians slip. That was why it was easy for Anenih to accept the annulment and Interim government.
His final error was his alignment with the enemy even when the likes of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Femi Falana, Olisa Agbakoba, and Bamidele Aturu were supporting the mandate, Chief Abiola was holding close door meetings with Arthur Nzeribe, the man who helped to put spanner in the wheel of the progress of June 12. He left Nigeria on the advice of Sani Abacha that Babangida was planning to kill him. He actually prevailed on Abacha to take over from Shonekan, when the court had declared Shonekan's Interim government illegal. Abacha lied to him, took over from Shonekan and Abiola recommended members of his party to Abacha as Cabinet members. He went to Dodan Barracks where Abacha was then on a courtesy visit. Before he could realize what was happening the underdog had gained power and it was late to fight back. All the noise about Epe declaration was after thought, belated actions.
This is not to say that I take delight in the assassination of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, no, far from it. And I detest the killing of Bashorun Abiola too, but the point is the case is a case of dog eats dog. I feel sorry not only for the Bashorun but also for his children just as I feel strongly too for the men and women who died during the June 12 riot leaving their children for no one to care for them. Some parents also lost their children, especially the under 12 girl that got killed by police stray bullet at Ojota. No one has asked for these kids, we are not bothered, because they are poor people. Their role was more significant than Bashorun Abiola's role. They voted for Abiola, and when their vote was disrespected by Abiola's friends, they came out again to defend their political power when the man they voted for left them for abroad for fear of being killed by his friends. We see them being butchered on the street of Lagos, along Ikorodu road and we call them miscreants, Area boys.
The question here is would Alhaja Kudirat Abiola and Bashorun Abiola have gone this far if another person had won the election and it was annulled? The fact and the truth of the matter is that Alhaja kudirat Abiola died defending her husband's mandate not democracy. She wouldn't have fought same way if Kingibe or Tofa had had their election annulled. This is a hard fact and the truth. I think the earlier we separate the person of Bashorun Abiola from the real issue of June 12 the better for us. June 12, to me is greater than any individual. It does not represent Bashorun Abiola, no it does not. It was a day Nigerians said SABENA- Such A Bitter Experience Never Again. But unfortunately, we have not come over it because we still mix sentiment with the truth.
We made them heroic fools! This is SAD. These are the real HEROES AND HEROINES of June 12. They laid their lives for what they believed and fought for their freedom and ours took their destinies in their hands, because there was no one to fight for them. What they fought for is not what we have today. They didn't die for this scrap called DEM ALL CRAZY, or BABA CRAZY, not this kleptomacracy, or money lundering, not this deceit and flagrant disregard for people's dignity, respect and genuine response to the people's need. During that time, I saw policemen, military men supporting the cause; infact some security operatives aided a lot of people to escape. The police, and the military also voted on June 12, we all, as a people, voted for a change, not from military to civil rule but a change from these OWNERS OF NIGERIA who have held us hostage for long. I think there was a sense in voting Bashorun Abiola, he was part of them, and we had expected that he would know how to clear the mess his co-OWNERS left for us. Just like Abami-Eda's song, we have unknown soldiers, unknown police, unknown students, these people are our unknown HEROES and HEROINES. We allowed the opportunity to slip, because many of us are afraid to die, but we now have many living corpse walking on our streets in Nigeria. Graduates without job, some underemployed. I think there is still another chance.
I believe that Bashorun though may have atoned for his past mistakes, was part of our problems in Nigeria. He played his part and became born again later, but in the spirit of fairness, we need to touch on this issue because we cannot talk about Babangida, Abacha and Obasanjo without mentioning Bashorun Abiola. The story will be incomplete.
It is also sad too that Abacha during Bashorun Abiola's incarceration was able to deal serious blow to his many businesses through the help of an enemy within. This time, it is not Lateef Sofolahan but one of the Bashorun's wives. Throughout the period of the Bashorun's incarceration, she was meeting with Abacha. Who was this woman? Did Abacha have an inappropriate relationship with her? I will not mention her name and will also not answer the second question too; all I will say is that she is among those women snatched by the Bashorun. This woman was around on the night of June 7 to the early morning June 8 1998 when Abacha died, she was lodged in the NICON Hilton Hotel Abuja. She escaped Mustapha narrowly that day. With his entire intelligence network, Al-Mustapha could not get her and the girl, the last girl Abacha slept with before he died at the Defence Guest House, otherwise known as House number 7. How? Let's leave that for now.
General Sani Abacha?
Who was this man? How did he maneuver himself to the top? What actually happened on January 15 1995? How many people died in that plane crash?
What role did he play in the Johnny Koroma's coup against Tedjan Kabba of Sierra-Leone?
Was he actually involved in Diamond deal in Sierra-Leone?
What killed him? Apple?
According to one of my very good pen friends- "Man Proposes, God Laughs"
The event before and after the 1983 re-election of Alhaji Shehu Shagari was a very turbulent one. The ruling NPN did everything to "capture" the UPN controlled States- Oyo, Ogun, Ondo and Lagos. It was a lost battle in Lagos as the then action Governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande could not be displaced by the NPN. In Oyo State, late Chief Ajibola Ige lost to Dr. Victor Olunloyo; there were allegations of rigging, especially at Modakeke where votes counted were more than registered voters. The Oyo State election was preceded by violence. Alhaji Busari Adelakun "eru-obodo" switched from UPN to NPN, late Chief Sunday Afolabi, and Bola Ige's deputy left for NPN. Though I was young then, could not vote but watched the political scene then with keen interest.
It was an era of "Ovie Whiskey and Ovie Liman". In Oyo State, after the "victory of Olunloyo," it was difficult for Ijebus to live in Ibadan, a lot of them in Oke-Ado; Oke-Bola had to flee. Many of them who went back to their hometown never returned to Ibadan. The Mobile Police were used to haunt the Ijebus. Whether this was an agenda of a group of people I cannot say. In Ondo State, Akin Omoboriowo, Chief Adekunle Ajasin's deputy decamped to NPN, contested for the Ondo State House and was declared winner but the person who declared Omoboriowo winner of the election did not come out of the studio alive. The violence was more pronounced in Ondo. Many notable personalities lost their lives and property. The Fagbamigbes and some others lost their lives. It was a repeat of the 'wetie era.' While the people fought for Pa Ajasin, he went to court and won back his mandate. On 31 December 1983, Nigerians woke up to hear the marshal song and the usual "Fellow Nigerians." A dark-goggled man in his Army uniform announced that the Military has taken over power from the civilian government of Alhaji Shehu.
Though we started austerity measure under Shagari's government, but I remember then as a student at the Ibadan Grammar School that we buy comic magazine from abroad and exchange $1 for 53 kobo. Yes it was getting bad economically. Nigerians seemed to have needed a change then. They called for a change. It was a time when Alhaji Arisekola and Umaru Dikko said Nigerians have not seen anything yet, that they are not hungry since they have not been eating from the dustbin.
The change of baton from one oligarchic ruler to another affected a lot of things, at least it affected the party as Chief Adisa Meredith Akinloye, the then National Chairman of NPN, who had over 9 cows tied , waiting to be slaughtered in front of his house in Ibadan. Umaru Dikko, Joseph Wayas (Senate President) and a host of others escaped. Many politicians were arrested and detained.
The man in dark goggle, who announced the coup, was late General Sani Abacha. He was Brigadier Sani Abacha. He later became the General Officer Commanding the 2 Mechanized Division, Ibadan. This was his first contact with the public.
After the ouster of Buhari/Idiagbon, Abacha became the Chief of Army Staff, while Ebitu Ukiwe became the Chief of General Staff, a new office created by Babangida. The Chief of General Staff played less role than the Chief of Staff Supreme Headquarters, a position the late Idiagbon held under Buhari. Ukiwe's position was political and Administrative. Babangida was fully in charge. Ukiwe did not find it easy holding that position and the problem of interpretation of duty and office came up. As far as Abacha was concerned, Ukiwe could not be the second-in-command to Babangida. This was because Ukiwe was a Commodore and Abacha and Aikhomu, who was the chief of Naval Staff then, were Major-General and Rear- Admiral. But the truth is that but for the Civil war, Ukiwe would not still be a Commodore at that time. Nobody heard Abacha talked, but Ukiwe was asked to leave for Abacha and Aikhomu took that position. Ukiwe was a non-conformist, outspoken and vibrant. He was too much for the like of Abacha and their plan. Aikhomu on the other hand is a yes man. All he needs is an opportunity to make money. A conformist to the core. He was in office throughout with Babangida and his slogan throughout that time was 'my boss is always right.'
Sani Abacha took a lot of people by surprise. Not many people think he could do what he did between 1993 and 1998; though some of what they ascribed to him were done by his boys using his names 'for security reasons.' He eventually became their prisoner.
As Chief of Army Staff, Abacha with Babangida had the agenda of disarming the Southern Nigeria. This, according to the planners of the April 20, 1990 revolution, caused their action. At least Major Mukoro, now Professor said in an interview that he heard and witness the shipment of ammunitions and weapons from the Ikeja Cantonment to the North. During this time, there was movement of military hardware from the south to undisclosed locations at nights. There was an unwritten and unconfirmed agreement between the two that Abacha will take over five years after Babangida's rule. So in 1990, Abacha had expected to succeed Babangida but it did not happen. He had all opportunity in the world to do this during the April 20 1990 revolution but he did not. Not much was known about this man until 1993 when he drove Ernest Shonekan out of Abuja. That did not even show anything until 1994.
Who is Sani Abacha? What manner of a man was he? That he took everybody by surprise is a fact. Nobody gave him any chance. We thought he was going to be a walk-over, but he proved us wrong.
Sometimes ago, Brig-Gen Adetunji Olurin said in an interview with This Day newspaper of what made him to distance himself from Abacha. During Buhari's regime, Olurin's unit (I cannot recollect the location) was to host a conference of the Nigerian Army. He called Babangida to know his choice of room mate for the conference lodging; he asked if he could pair him Abacha. According to Olurin, Babangida did not mind being paired with anybody, but advised Olurin not to pair Abacha, but give him a room to himself, because, Abacha does not forget nor forgive. The second instance was events after the 1990 coup, Abacha was complaining to Olurin over insinuations by the head of the C&S Church, Baba Aladura Otubu, Olurin advised Abacha to call Otubu since he is Abacha's friend. Abacha's response shocked Olurin. According to Olurin, Abacha said he does not have any friend, because it is a sign of weakness to have friends. Olurin said he could not sleep throughout that night.
Abacha never pretended to be brilliant or intelligent, according to reports, he was recommended for retirement but Obasanjo removed his name from the list. He was not a man of many words. He does not like to talk. He exhibited all this even when he reads speeches. I have watched Abacha and listened to him many times during national broadcast, skipping lines in the address when he could not pronounce the words. It was from Abacha's regime that Finance Minister took up the duty of reading the budget, the man does not just have the time for that. He hates long sentences; everything about him is short and precise. To see him as a Military Administrator, you have to wait for as long as 10 days in Abuja. There was a story of a military administrator of one of the northern states who went to see him, the man waited for more than 7 days, and when he eventually got to see Abacha and told him how long he had been waiting, Abacha just said to him to go if he thought he could not wait that long.
Abacha also hated seeing figures. If you want him to approve anything, don't write too much notes, he won't read, what he does most of the time is to go to the total and see how much you are asking for.
After the announcement of the first results of the June 12 1993 presidential elections, crisis erupted in Aso Rock. We were told that the Armed Forces was against Abiola, but the result of the election showed that the Military in various barracks voted for Abiola, he won in the barracks too, and then who are these Armed Forces men against Abiola? Though Babangida never answered the question, but Col. Abubakar Umar gave an insight in one of his press interviews to Tell Magazine when Diya rode on tiger's back and ended in his belly. Who did he say killed June 12? How?
In the midst of the election annulment crisis, Abacha invited young officers close to General Babangida namely, Col. Abubakar Umar, Col. Lawan Gwadabe, and other vocal officers, that Babangida may not want to hand over power to Abiola. He wanted these officers to prevail on Babangida to hand over power to MKO Abiola. On the other hand he told Babangida that some officers were not disposed to Abiola becoming the President. While Abacha was scheming to take over power, Aliyu Mohammed Gusau was also making moves. He had invited Gen Oladipo Diya to support him against Abacha, this was reported to Abacha and as soon as Abacha kicked Shonekan, he retired Gusau, Dogonyaro, was posted out on a peace keeping operation, he refused and got the news of his retirement on the Network news that he has voluntarily retired. Diya became Abacha's deputy; Abdusalami Abubakar became the Chief of Defence Staff, Chris Ali, former Administrator was Abacha's first Chief of Army Staff.
Under Sani Abacha, the Nigerian military suffered great neglect. The Military was reduced to nothingness. The military became more idle; officers could not go for training. Most promotions were done without regard for merit. The neglect of the military by the military during these periods is unimaginable. Professionalism was thrown into the wind as officers became politicians in uniform. What Nigerians experienced under Abacha for five years as a result of the foundation laid by his predecessor, Babangida.
The period between 1993 and 1998 was adjudged the darkest period in Nigerian history. If his predecessors were diplomatic in unleashing terror, Sani Abacha had no temperament for that. He ruled Nigeria with iron hands relying on his street wisdom with the able assistance of Major Hamza Al Mustapha and Brigadier-General Sabo.
Abacha's government brought out the ugly side of the military, especially the Army. It was an era of unbelievable happenings. There was something unique about this man. He came in and touched the untouchables. He destroyed what we have seen in Nigeria as political dynasty and created a new class of oligarchs. He acted like a nemesis. Dasuki, Sultan of Sokoto, who was imposed on the Sokoto people was dethroned and detained in far Taraba State. In the history of the North, the North West has been claiming supremacy not only on the south but also on the other part of the north, especially the north east. There has been some unpronounced rivalry between the Hausa/Fulani and the Kanuri.
This was based on the re-written history that Uthman Dan Fodio brought Islam to Nigeria for the first time through Sokoto, but this is not so. As a Graduate Student, I discovered that Islam first came to northern Nigeria through Kanem Bornu Empire, but Uthman Dan Fodio came later with the intention of reforming Islam. In actual fact one of the places condemned by Uthman Dan Fodio as a shrine of Idol was used as mosque. It was in this region that Abacha sent Dasuki, to for incarceration. Not only that he also divided Sokoto State, carved out Zamfara from it.
Era of dirty intrigues, when officers planned to out do each other for power and money. An era when Generals prostrate to Major, a midriff officer! Many brilliant officers were clamped into jail on the trumped up charge of plotting against Abacha.
The Directorate of Military Intelligence during that time dropped its primary duty of intelligence gathering for intrigues and dirty politics. Obasanjo and Yar'Adua tasted doses of Abacha's bitter pills. General Olusegun Obasanjo, the man who removed Abacha's name from retirement list when he was the Military Head of State, was arrested by Abacha in 1995 with Musa Shehu Yar'Adua for alleged involvement in coup plot. Like a child play they were arraigned before Brigadier-General Patrick Aziza and Mujakpero, these were junior officers and in the history of the military, junior officers do not try their superiors. While Obasanjo survived, Yar'Adua was unlucky.
Under Abacha, Abiola was detained, Kudirat Abiola was murdered, and Suliat Adedeji was also murdered. Though it was a state sponsored murder, but it was with the assistance of an Ibadan-based politician who felt threatened with Suliat's political influence. Suliat lost her life to Ibadan politics power play. Pa Alfred Rewane was killed with the help of an Abacha ally, who is a governor in one of the south-south state. The governments of Babangida and Abacha produced the like of Halilu Akilu, David Mark, Mike Akhigbe, Usman Ahmed, Sam Ewang (who donated most of his loot to the Redeemed Christian Church of God), Al Mustapha, Ishaya Bamaiyi, Patrick Aziza, Mujakpero, Ibrahim Ogohi, Sabo Ibrahim, Ideheren, Col. Kolawole, Frank Omenka, among several others that the military anywhere in the world cannot be proud of.
On 15 January 1995, there was a plane crash in Kano that Killed 15 people, but only 14 bodies were recovered, what happened to the 15th body? Why did Abacha not allow the families of the victims of the plane crash bury their dead? Who killed Ibrahim Abacha and why?
How was Fodey Sankoh of Sierra Leone arrested in Nigeria? With the Nigerian Military guarding the State House in Freetown, fully armed, Johnny Koroma gained access, toppled Tedjan Kabba. How did this happen? Was there any betrayal? Who made it possible for Koroma to gain access to the State House? What was the motive?
Who is Abubakar Atiku Bagudu? What role did he play in the Abacha regime?
The Lebanese who co-ruined Nigeria with Abacha?
Stay tuned.

Making Your Own Luck Hi Guys I have discovered a fact, that
Every day is an adventure. One in which we can write a story line filled with new life experiences. Positive relationships and new found success. Or it can be one in which we see little joy in and sit back believing that success is something that is reserved for only the lucky few.
Truly, the choice in which we see our potential in life is our own. Greatness and abundance is yours as much as it is any ones, but you must be willing to believe that is so, as well as be willing to do the things that are necessary to attract greater success in your life.
Always keep firmly in mind that we create our own luck through a four letter word called "work" and six letter one known as "effort".

EVIDENCE WITHOUT CONTRADICTION – Romans 8:28-29 Do you know that as a Christian you have undisputable and non-contradictory evidence that God is for you? Regardless of what your present situation portrays. If you are a lover of God, (to confirm if you are hear what the Lord Jesus Christ said; if you love me keep my commandments). Again He clarified those He was referring to;
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand”. John 10:27-29.
Whoa! What a great assurance. I am not the one making this promise, neither is it your pastor or father, but God Himself and I believe you can rest on it.
Our discussion is on Apostle Paul’s reassurance to the Romans’ church and the body of Christ (the church) today. He said this;
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.(Rom.8:28-30)
This passage is not for everybody, and not even for everyone that claim to be a Christian. Rather it for two classes of people; those that love God and the called according to His purpose. The question then is do you love God? And are you among the called? If you are not, ‘To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts’ (Hebrew 3:13, 4:7). Sin is a reproach not only to nations but to whoever rejects God son (Jesus the Christ) through sinful lifestyle. But if you love Him, then you don’t have anything to be afraid of because whatever happen will turn out to be for your own good. How?
Through relationship. There is a relationship that has been in existence from creation between us and God. Remember He knows the end from the beginning. Therefore He foreknew us before we were born, decided that He will have us to become His and as such set our destination; to be conform or becomes like Christ, the firstborn of all God’s children. All these happened without our knowledge. Many out there belong to God yet they are not aware of His purpose and plans towards them.
But meanwhile they are misbehaving, living without Him. However, He is mindful of them; ever calling out to them, beckoning on them return to Him. How does He do that? ‘The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance’ (2 Peter 3:9) Remember man was created in God’s image and likeness. God breath into man to become a living soul (Genesis 2:7), otherwise we should have been lifeless. So we have a spirit that relates with Him (through the Holy Spirit) and through which the Holy Spirit keeps calling out to our spirit man.
That was why before you were born again, there were instances where you heard the word of God and in your heart you were like weeping, you felt remorse but somehow you couldn’t respond to Him then. He did not stop, He kept calling because He is not willing to let go of you, then one day your spirit finally yielded to Him. Not minding the mess that you’ve been involved in, He picked you up, clean up the mess and justify you. Meaning, as far as He is concern you never did all those things and then He put glory in you. The glory is what you will become. It is yet hidden inside of you.
This is what I called the second calling. This time a calling into His purpose, hear what Timothy has to say ‘Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began (2Timothy 1:9)’.
This is the time to process you together with the glory inside of you in order to show forth His purpose. Quite often this is the area a lot of us have problem; understanding His purpose, the process and the timing. Sometimes we are so much in a hurry to allow God process (prepare) us. We may not all go through the same preparation; your preparation will depend on your calling. That is, the teachings and coaching you are going to receive will be directly proportional to what He has designed that you do for Him. For instance if you are going to be the one to lift up the down cast, just be prepared to be at their level first. If you are going to be a light to your generation, you might have to go through a dark tunnel first, in order to have a first hand experience so that you will be in a better position to relate with those that God will bring your way.
It is after the preparation that the whole world suddenly starts seeing qualities and abilities that they couldn’t see before and which are beyond your own works, but according to His own purpose and grace. They begin to see a great preacher, writer, manager, etc. depending on what He has put inside you. In other words you begin to manifest what He put inside of you. That is glory.
My friends the enemy hates it when we yield our hearts to the Lord, he will fight you with every weapon, but if you love God, there is evidence that cannot be contradicted that what he is throwing at you will turn out to be for your own good. Therefore don’t give up yet, hold on a little longer.
Thank you

You a destroyer, I know it all this while. But I trust in God Almighty. And He declared in his word, "You a destroyer, the day you stop destroying will be the day'll be destroyed. You don't know me in person, never seen me before never heard me speak. Yet you've concluded about me. You're entitled to your opinion. It ain't bother me at all. You have done your worst and that's all you up to. I'm naive, local and archaic, and raw. Yes ma, I heard it all. I remain myself and may be that's why i prosper everyday. When i do not destroy my fellow man at his/her back just like you do. I will never be somebody but be myself. I will never copy, for you can't be somebody else. You'll be a follower. You may be social, eloquent and may be a magistrate or SAN ........... I don't care, since I do not come to you for garri or water. Pocket your pride and your resources. You are just a lady, who doesn't know she's you're going yet. You may be grammarian or lexicographer. Which I'm not and I'm claiming to be one. But thank god, I know the one that fetches me my daily bread. I can stand tall in the presence of anyone, both white and black. You may have the best exposure in the world. But I put it to you, you're a local champion. You have not gone out of this environment before All your "yanga" is just around here. You can't contest that with me, all your "ganga-gang ends in the kitchen of someone just like me. I won't waste my time talking to you anymore. But just to let you know i smell your flatulence! That's why I put up this piece. You know yourself, that lady. If you become a Magistrate tomorrow, and my case comes to your court go ahead and put me to jail. which is not possible. Lady magistrate! you're not one already and you've started flexing muscles. You've not arrived. If there is anyone telling you that you a big success already And you allow it get into your head and drunk by the wine of deception. You're heading away to destruction. For pride goes before destruction. A word for you. they say is enough for the wise. I don't like to sound rude to people. It's not in my character but you called for this. And I have no apology for it. Young Lady in the house, I leave you with this. You know yourself.

There are at least three factors that can oppress you from within and keep you from being the creative person that God wants you to be. They are:
1. Fear. I’ve written about fear in many before. But how many fears can you think of that could prevent you from being creative? I can think of fear of failure, poverty, ridicule, family, culture, authority, inadequacy, and success. Can you think of any others? If you can, write and let me know. But if you are going to release your creativity, you must face and overcome the oppression of fear. They will paralyze your efforts and cause you to procrastinate, hoping for a more opportune time. Remember what Paul said to his disciple Timothy: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV). (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV). If you have fear, what are you prepared to do about it?
2. Comparison. When you look at what you do and compare it to what others do, it can cause you to stop creating because, in your opinion, it isn’t as good. But think about it: What is good where creativity is concerned? Is creativity a process and can your simple efforts today lead to stellar creativity tomorrow? Is it wise to compare your initial efforts to what someone else may have spent a lot of time developing? Paul described an important principle that he used when he looked at his work: “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise” (2 Corinthians 10:12-13). Why not do something creative this week and discipline yourself not to compare it to what others have done. Is it the best that you can do now? If it is, then I would say that your creativity is good in and of itself.
3. Perfectionism. I discussed this in Monday bible study, when I described the little old man that lives inside you, waiting to criticize and disqualify whatever you create because it isn’t “good enough.” I know only One who is perfect and He is God. You’re not (God or perfect). While you should strive for excellence and your best performance, you can never expect it to be perfect. The pursuit of perfection is unrealistic (and oppressive) and will hinder you from doing something great just because it isn’t perfect. I can’t find a Bible verse that talks about perfectionism, but I can find one that speaks to excellence: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” (Colossians 3:23). Distinguish between excellence and perfection and be liberated to create. Are you living under any internal, self-imposed oppression that is stifling your creativity? Which of the three oppressors are you under? When you can answer that question, your liberation is near!

This is another saddest day in my life. As I lost a caring and loving man. It's a tragedy! I cried and wept, my eyes swelled up. But alas! no remedy. What a live, what a death? Why did this happen and this particular period? Why do I have to add problem to problems. I feel like saying what will annoy God but I won't. I feel like questioning Him but I won't either. For He can not be questioned. For He knows the beginning from the ending. But my day is blue. Glooming and saddened! That is how best I can describe it. Death! you struck again in my family. It's so painful. this has to happen. I ...I...sub sub... He knows about it before they are happened.
