Having Google in Yoruba is extremely relevant because it perserves our language.  There are millions of people in the world who know English and their native language as well.  So we should appreciate the fact that Google has done this and not dismiss it as something insignificant because most Nigerians already know English.

-- If I'm not mistakened, This project was also open to anyone. At one point I tried to contribute by helping with some translations, then I realised that it a lot easier to speak regular Yoruba than write Yoruba in it's proper form -- c'est complex

I believe strongly that there is nothing wrong in having Yoruba Google. Throughout the World, Yoruba Language and it's culture is one of the most respected. A large number of Yoruba people could not really  read Yoruba language fluently. This however is due to negligence of our culture, tradition and norms. Yoruba Google is a highly welcomed development.  But, then, a lot can still read and write Yoruba Language.

The question is this? how many of us takes our traditional languages important? We put our children in schools where no Nigerian traditional languages are spoken or taught. Funny right? So, even if we have Google in Igbo-Delta, how many of the tribe will be able to read it? Google has done well. So let's appraise them. In Germany, German is the language that is used to teach in schools. Finland, China, Japan and so on. So, when are we going to start respecting our culture?
