Former Governor Thanking God For Giving Him The Privilege To Loot His State!

http://uk.geocities.com/gilbertdeya/Worldnews/Realnews/Countries/Nigeria/GodlyLeaders.html

Immediate-past Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Sam Egwu has reviewed his eight years administration, saying any Christian veering into politics should imbibe Godly principles in order to succeed.
Egwu declared that every day was a testimony for him and his family since it was only through the grace of God that he was able to survive many political intrigues in the state.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Assemblies of God Church, Mbieri Street Abakaliki, he said as a governor he faced many daunting challenges which tasked his religious piety adding that it was ceaseless prayers from family members, well wishers and religious leaders that saw him through.

The former governor stated that the thanksgiving service was organized to thank God for His favours to his family and for making his administration successful.

He recounted many unsuccessful spiritual attacks made on the life of his wife, Eunice during the period.

"God has seen us through politically. It is not easy for a Christian to be in politics, but if you stand firm and apply godly principles, you cannot go wrong. That was what I applied and today we are thanking God because He has seen us through," he stated.

Egwu, who urged the people of the state to pray for their leaders, said his greatest wish is that every Ebonyi person should become Governor to understand the dynamics of leadership adding "that is why I don't envy the present governor".

He disclosed that it was based on his Christian convictions that he survived the political wars in the state especially those of 1999, 2003 and 2007 adding that he was also inspired to anchor his government on infrastructure, human and spiritual development.

Delivering the sermon on the occasion, the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Dr. Charles Ogbonnaya Osueke, urged Christians and secular leaders to remember that God was watching them in everything they do pointing out that if the leaders hearken to the voice of God they need not be afraid of the wiles of the Economic and Financial Crimes commission (EFCC).

Drawing his text from Genesis 17 verse 1 and 2, Osueke reminded Christians that the call of Abraham should be an example for them to know that they should "walk before Him and be blameless" stressing that there is no secret or hidden place for God.

Earlier while giving her testimony, Egwu's wife, recalled how the incessant appearance of snakes in and around her office, the accident involving her convoy, the Lagos Lodge inferno and her unexplained sickness, put fear into her such that she thought she would die but rejoiced God saved her.

In his remarks, the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Martin Elechi, said he is still convinced in his earlier observation that Egwu is a good man adding that was why in all the political crisis in the state during his tenure, the former Governor has never lost a political battle.

Wooooooooooooow! Touching speech but only if you were an honest leader.

Why do you (Sam Egwu) even bother to open your mouth when everyone knows that you're a thief?

can anybody notice a pattern here. Everbody is coming out now to say that they are saints.

when the CAT is absent the RAT becomes the landlord. Now that RIBADU is effectively no longer the head of EFCC all the bastards are coming out saying how Abacha etc are saint.

From all indication, we are going back to business as usual.

Lord have mercy.

I'll tell you what this Sam Egwu did for ebonyi state.

Him and his wife (Eunice Egwu) Looted  Pubic Funds and Resources of Ebonyi State throughout 1999 To May 2007.

Used financial scams of proxies to milk the state through dubious contracts, diversion of local government funds, foreign trips by members of his family at the state’s expense and whimsical approval of remunerations to himself. Others are conversion of government vehicles to personal use, payments for unrendered services, inflation of contract sums, spurious bank loans and administrative tardiness.

He lied about farms that he owned to later use the funds of ebonyi state to aquire them. He stated that he owned farms valued at N2 million and an annual income of N500,000.

The Egwus also used the states funds to build Hope High International School, Abakaliki, valued at over N1.2 billion. This was his personal gift to his wife eunice egwu!

Egwu’s other choice properties include a block of 12 flats at Eboh Street, valued at N45 million; a similar N35 million structure at 8 Francis Orji Street, and another N55 million property at 3 Douglas Ogbonna Street, all in Abakaliki. He also owns a N50 million duplex at Umuebe, Ezzamgbo, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

The former Ebonyi governor has an ultra-modern farm and country home, both valued at N820 million. Covering an area of over 100 hectares, the farm is a shouting distance from the site of the Ebonyi State airport project which was, at Egwu’s order, relocated from its original site along Abakaliki-Onueke road. Not a few citizens of Ebonyi believe that Egwu relocated the airport to its new site with the intention of having it service his farm.

Also listed as part of Egwu’s are: a duplex with surrounding bungalows worth N25 million at Otuokpeye, Amoffia Ngbo, where his parents hailed from; a duplex at Mrs Egwu’s family compound at Ezzamgbo with a network of tarred roads, all valued at N85m; a four-storey edifice at Ezzamgbo worth over N80m; petrol filling stations at Amasiri, Ebonyi State and Port Harcourt, Rivers  State, worth over N150m; a seven-hectare fenced plot at Mile 50, Abakiliki, purchased from the Pecuno family at the cost of N35m and a private recreational centre and resort opposite Hope International High School, Onwe Road, Abakaliki valued at N200m.

Far from being satisfied with his vast acquisitions, Egwu cornered an over 500-metre stretch of land between Ezzambgo Motor Park and the bridge on the way to Enugu, which is worth over N20m; a building belonging to R.O. Nkwocha at 6872 Presidential Road, opposite Presidential Hotel, Enugu purchased by proxy for N700m; former Seven-Up Bottling Company, along Independence Avenue, Enugu purchased for N500m; a mansion at Victoria Island, Lagos valued at N710m; a hotel nearing completion along Independence Avenue, Enugu worth over N600m, and over 200 choice plots of land within and outside Abakiliki valued at over N300m.

Egwu also acquired a record number of moveable assets and shares to complement his real estate acquisitions. The former governor has in his fleet 17 exotic cars valued at more than N268m. The list excludes four of the seven bullet-proof cars purchased at N260m that Egwu allegedly appropriated to himself while leaving office on 29 May.  The vehicles include a Range Rover B6+ armoured jeep, BMW X5 (3.0), BMW X5 (armoured) and Mercedes Benz 500 (bullet-proof).

Egwu incorporated Hardis Nigeria Limited to manufacture interlocking tiles, polythene products and table water. The company has been the sole supplier of interlocking tiles used in Government House since 2006. The former governor also acquired shares in the defunct Standard Trust Bank plc via proxies valued at over N350m in addition to shares worth over N850m in Access, Intercontinental, UBA and Zenith banks through proxies.

On her part, Mrs Egwu established Widow Care Paints under the umbrella of her NGO, Widow Care Foundation. Since its establishment in 2005, the unwritten rule is that all government contractors meet their paint requirements through the company.

Egwu purchased houses in various areas of the world (especially the United States and in the United Kingdom) where most of his children are still attending  top universities at, with the exception of his daughter sandra chiamaka  egwu already graduated.

He also used the state's funds to build a 5-Star Hotel named Grace Court Hotel in Abakaliki, and many more bad deeds.

Only in Nigeria would a fraudulent ex-leader go to church and prasie God for giving him the grace to loot public funds and impoverish his people and the Pastor would say nothing about it because he wants a piece of the booty.
They all sicken me. By giving him audience to boast about his thieving past, the pastor is party to the theft that took place in Ebonyi state  between 1999 and 2007.

I am not surprised the initial post is from  a  Gilbert Deya link. The same man accused of bringing stolen babies into UK in the name of miracle babies would definately classify Egwu as a godly leader.

Don't allow derogatory comments to penetrate your minds, people! Being black doesn't make us any more evil than any other race. Up to date, the whiteman has done more evil than anyone else combined. So by them calling us monkeys is a way to demoralize us, and to keep us in a mental state of being hopeless and worthless. As Nigerians, we have our own issues to deal with; corruption is one of our major issues that plagues us today. And leaders like Sam Egwu keep us hopeless and worthless, fullfilling the whiteman's agenda, burring us in poverty so we may never advance. That causes us to stay inferior. And it's quite obvious that there is no entity of a deity that Egwu actually acknowledges, being that he even took the liberty of quoting the scriptures of the bible to highlight and intensify his devious acts.

IF all this is true, I mean if SaharaReports article is all filled with fact, this definitely shows how FAKE and WICKED many Nigerians can be. On the one hand, claiming to be the most religious yet evil and corrupt enough to use the name of God in their wicked dealings.

And someone had to guts to ask me how come many of those, who are supposedly religious, who commit crimes are not known as religious people first, and corrupt second.

Na wa oo!!

Not to play the Devil's (or is it religious man's) advocate here, but how much of the claims against him can be verified?

The information looks staggering no doubt, but is it true?  Undecided

After the campaign of sorts that is being waged against Obj, where sensationalism is the criteria for what is produced.,
I find it difficult to believe these stories anymore.

To be honest i am not really that interested anymore. There was and is so much that has transpired that simply put, i won't put anything past any of these Nigerian politicians. On the media aspect of things, the news media in Nigeria is terrible on so many levels. On the technical aspect i was surprised that NTA still has that static sound in the background as if it is part and parcel of the news. The coverage isn't wide in scope in Nigeria not to even speak of Africa or the world. The news stations are not aggressive enough in their interviews and enquiries when dealing with politics, there is still too much oga sir and a significant number of well known papers are owned by politicians so how on earth can people in the country obtain a more objective picture with all of this? Also the ajebo and phonetics that is blown on some of these channels, mercy, you won't even know if you are listening to English in the first place. People who might be able to understand hardcore scottish accent may not even be able to make out what these newsreaders are saying.
