The Next Big Killer
« on: June 16, 2008, 02:59 PM »

While African Govt are still busy with corruption and brain-drain has removed the best  to EU/US, the next big killer is already here.

In another 20yrs, it will become epidermic and the Africans would be putting together all sorts of conspiracy theory.

Now is time to start acting; but will they??

The Cancer Epidermic is on the way.

We never finish with AIDS, na cancer you dey talk about. Angry

Cancer is not better than AIDS, but it will not discriminate much between the poor and the rich people, the developed, developing and underdeveloped countries.

When it begins to hit everybody including the most powerful and money bags, then they will be serious on finding the cure unlike AIDS.

If we don't get a handle on corruption we'll remain rooted in choking poverty to worry about any next big killer.

The burden of cancer in Nigeria is appreciable. According to the World Health Organisation, there are an estimated 100,000 new cancer cases in the country each year although observers believe the figure could become as high as 500,000 new cases annually by 2010. It is feared that by 2020, cancer incidence for Nigerian males and females may rise to 90.7/100,000 and 100.9/100,000 respectively. It is also anticipated that by 2020, death rates from cancer in Nigerian males and females may reach 72.7/100,000 and 76/100,000 respectively.

I could not get to the link.
If it's cancer, my opinion is that it is a lifestyle disease and that is why it is prevalent among certain categories of people. if it is increasing in Nigeria, it is because of the fact that we are now trying too hard to live western lifestyles. We are copying everything they do, including their food and their sex/love lifestyles. Na the result una dey see so
