@ Javaprince,
What is inspirational in R-n-B, Rock and Country music. It's all the same game. . . . . .R.Kelly can say "SEX ME". . . . .Boyz II Men can sing "I'LL MAKE LOVE TO You but 50 cent CANNOT sing 'mess You. The last time i checked, they all mean the same thing BUT because this is not a genre the white guys can really dabble intoIt's HATED.
Now, Rap music should be banned so these kids who never had anything they wanted can return to selling crack and toting guns. It's shameful how the minds of Black Men have been genetically enslaved to believe what the white men tells em. This is the same issue with HARD DRUGS . . . .it's a posion because the white men cannot grow it like the 3rd world nations.
When would people open their eyes and see the white man's FRAUD of cheating the black race.

there is some truth in what you stated. except the part when you said sex and making love is the same thing. when clearly it is not. you can have sex with anyone but you make love to one special person.

Naija rappers and poetry? Are u kidding me? You call what Eedris does on the mic poetry?? Rappers in the USA can only rap about what they actually experienced not what happened in Nigeria. Keep lying to their fans?? I don't think so. Many of em have their prison records to show for their impoverished childhood. Are u saying 2pac lied about his jail terms?? Eedris? who the heck is that? lol. Anywayz, i don't think you understood my post. What i meant is that i might become interested in the so-called poetry y'all claim that Kanye, common, nas and co. speak if it comes from a naija artiste because i can only believe Nigerians or Africans when they talk about living the hard lives but not African-Americans. But unfortunately, i don't listen to any Nigerian rapper. Trust me i know what am saying when i tell you that rap is exaggerated. People do choose to live in the hood, nobody forced them to. I live in the States myself and you see people in the so-called hood wearing nothing less than $100 sneakers eg. jordans, nikes, etc. The word "hood" is just a phrase gotten from 'neighborhood' and doesn't really mean 'ghetto' but they paint it to mean ghetto. Most music videos where they show u the so-called hoods, those places don't actually look that way but with grafitti and all that, they make it look like they actually live the street life. street life my ass. Take for example DJ Khaled's video 'i'm so hood'. trust me if they really live in the hood, they wouldn't be proud of it, yellin' "am so hood". 2pac's time is totally different, i don't doubt him, he came from a crazy family, his mother smoked crack and went to jail herself. My point is that not all rap music is "life". When you listen to people like fat joe, plies and co, you tell me what they teach about life. man i really wish you would come to houston so i could show you what real rap is. and where they are coming from.
Lol, what real rap is in houston?? Girl, it's NY - eastcoast all day!!

@onyinye2 Please don't get me wrong. Rap has a lot of rappers and each rapper has a lot of songs - but the truth is almost 85% or more has to do with Violence,Dtugs, Stealing, bla bla bla. Of course, I forever love TuPac's "Dear Mama", "Changes******", "Hail Mary", "Do For Love" etc. But most of these were a lower percentage of his whole track produced. At least one could even still relate to his Beef with Biggie and the tracks that came with that. But I tell you nowadays Some Rappers just pick Beefs with others at the slightest chance possible and start commotions. Am not sayin this is only found in the Rap music, but am sayin this is Common/Attribute of Rap Music.
Mention any Rapper that you probably want your child("please don't take this persona") to Grow up like or listen to its teachings. Or to make it easier what is the percentage of adherance u would like ur child to have?
Conclusively, Let me tell you Rap music is strictly "Entertainment", If u want Inspiration - Get a Bible/Quran/etc + any other Inspirational Books(U know now). If you want poetry - Carry one of them Poem Books,.
My 2Cents.

I agree with you. Sex, mess, Shag and Making love are all sexual intercourse that involves the genitals of male and female species. Whether they are emotionally induced or not should be left for the weak-hearteds. Ma point is what makes SEX ME palatable and mess ME evil? @ Javaprince, I disagree with u as it depends on the individual. Trust me, i have learnt more from Rap than formal education. I grew up listening to it and the ultimate decision is left to me whether to slang crack/'caine on the boulevard or just pinch the positive stuffs. Before Rap music, there was violence. . . . . Thankfully, there was no Rap music in the Holocaust. . . . .People like you woulda blamed it on Rap. There are good and bad music everywhere. . . .Using Rap music as an excuse for what kids do these days is a tad moronic.

No one's talking about banning rap, it deserves a place in the music industry like every other genre, but rap just isn't what it used to be. And why does drugs and crime have to be their only other option. Sure their poor, but that's no excuse to become a criminal.

you already made your point when you said "emotionally induced or not" @javaprince i would hope that if i had a son that he would kanye's path of success. he came from a bad background and made a living for himself. and now is one of the kings of the rap world. I'm not saying i want my son to be a rapper but to be inspired that no matter what the odds are, you can still succeed.

They don't sell crack after blowing up into stardom. These rappers are now rich because of their wise investment and tactical nous. . . . . 50 cent picked $400 million from Coca-Cola last year when he sold his vitamin water to them. . . @ Doyin13, No brainer . . . . . . I laugh in Swahili. When Fiddy was investing in the water business some years ago. . . . Many felt he was becoming a nuisance. 3 years later, it paid massive dividends. . . . .A whooping $400 million dollar cheque( Not even Oprah makes that in 2 years). Besides, he bought Mike Tyson's house in Connecticut for $4 million in 2005. Today, that house is worth $25 million and buyers are scrambling and outbidding each other to get the crib. Is this business or not? @ Chiogo, None of em G-unit guys can stoop so low again to sell cheap drugs around the corner. The story has now changed from dirty money to cool money . . . . . . . Money they can spend without em looking over their shoulders.

Damn, y'all are too funny. Are you talking about vitamin water?? Last time i checked, he doesn't own it. He just bought some part of it. Therefore, he only gained partnership but he's not the sole-owner. u kidding me?? abeg, he still sells crack. nah, am just playing but most of 'em still do in case the rap thingy doesn't work out. @topic, javaprince has said it all. lmao. @Hannibal, yeah right, that was why Young buck was crying on the phone to 50 like a little puppy. Truth is, only 50 got power among the whole crew. The rest live off of him, groupies to say. without 50, they're nothing. So, he probably still sells crack, nobody knows and am sure he doesn't do it himself. His groupies do.

@doyin rap is more than entertainment to most. if you came to the third ward area in houston where from birth you are told there is no way out of the ghetto except in a coffin, and you were listening to Kanye West's Jesus Walks then you feel a sense of hope. you are only seeing rap as a business but it is much more than that. it is a way to express the hurt and pain you are experiencing.

Can someone tell me this, why are rappers always rapping about ho's, bitches, niggas? then this are the same people who cry foul when oyinbo man go call them niggas. Truth of the matter is that hip-hop is a very bad influence to young African-American men, in fact, black men in general. The genre degrades women (as seen in the Nelly video where he swiped a credit card through a woman's butt crack) Angry Even in naija, people have started calling themselves the N-word or sagging there pants or stealing from there parents (including school fees) or robbing people (including "obtaining" juniors in sec. school) to buy jewelry's, jerseys, rocawear's, sean john's or snickers. In the 90's a lot Naija girls were getting their fashion sense from the rap or R&B videos and dressing like people of ill repute (don't let me say what was on my mind ). The most annoying part of it is when my siblings or my friends back home tell me to buy them baggy jeans or jordan snickers which usually cost over $200!!!!! (snickers ko, sandals ni). In urban america, its worse because a lot of families there are in shambles (75% of African-Americans are born out of wedlock), the kids learn a lot of corrupting influences from rap music, they don't want to go to school any longer because when they watch Fiddy, Ludacris or Weezy in the videos glorifying the gangsta lifestyle rapping about ho's and pimps (the worst creatures on earth), they too want to be like that because there is no glory in staying up all night typing a project.
Holla to all ma Rapheadz keepin it real. . If they don't like it and cannot stop listenin to it, make they go hang themselves. . O-K, to make some few points clear, I'll have to start with what DAVIDIF has said.
1. The most annoying part of it is when my siblings or my friends back home tell me to buy them baggy jeans or jordan snickers which usually cost over $200!!!!! (snickers ko, sandals ni).
Just because your friends and siblings think you live in the North pole and have wide mouth (elenu fife) does not mean that Rap has to be banished. . if they asked for one Aso-oke or French lace material that they saw in one Asa video, I'm sure you'D be up against Nigerian songs too.
2. Can someone tell me this, why are rappers always rapping about ho's, bitches, niggas?
Yes! I can tell you. It's because that's what they are used to. You too can rap about the numbers of 'guguru and epa's that you have bought in your life time, or about how tough your teachers were in school, or even about how your father used to chase you with kpankere for playing football when you were meant to be 'reading your book'. . It's freedom of speech about how you think. . You cannot change the way NY rappers think, neither can they change the way you think about their rap.
3. stealing from there parents (including school fees)
Come, I was not bothered to check your gender but can I ask one personal question - is this a personal experience like the 'baggy jeans' one. . because i think it hurts you a lot. . By the way, bad pikin don dey before MC Hammer started scratching. . Cain killed Abel, was it RAP that influenced him? David murdered a man and slept with his wife. . na RAP do that one too? Jonah refused to work according to instructions because he wanted to chill. . him dey carry RAP jamm for his 'MP3'? What of the unruly sons of Eli the Prophet, they were rapstars abi? Please get realistic. If you know anyone who stole, rehab / juvenile centre dey there. . don't blame RAP for what it didn't do.
4. African-Americans are born out of wedlock
I never knew it was just African-Americans. . what of the Britishers, What of the Caribbeans? . . Is it only in NY this happens? What of those that don't listen to rap? What of the goths? What of Mel B - the R'N'B singer who got pregnant out of wedlock? what of . . . . don't make me have to start the endless list . . because as far back as hundreds of years ago, there has always been bastards, Rap did not invent that neither.
5. no glory in staying up all night typing a project.
Maybe we've finally come to the bone of contention - project. . So because you have been/are/ will be forced by education to do your project, others must not rest? You've forgotten that each person to his own. . RAP has not told anybody not to do project oh. . face your work and leave RAP alone.

wow shaz you got it all wrong. rap music doesnt make any one do anything except listen and understand. It is not the rap stars job to bring up your brother or his friends. no where in any lyric does it tell any young child to still from their parents. i have been listen to rap since i don't know when and not once have i did any of these things. and that is because my PARENTS taught me how to act not no rap artist. you are using rap as a scapegoat to the real issue of bad house training and lack of realistic role models in their lives.

Well, with the route it's taking I can only hope somewhere another biggie smalls or tupac has been born to revive it. I fear that when the greats retire there'll be no one to bring back the integrity it once had. It's being degraded by all these one hit wonders and wannabes they can't be the future of Hip Hop.

there will never be another biggie smalls or tupac. but i feel that the new generation just needs to be guided by some of these older rappers in a sense. or at least more support. there are plenty of good rappers out there. it is just the matter who is going to buy the albums. alot of people are into that party music. but i feel things will change when Nas drops his controversial album
