Nigerian Police Have Done It Again!
« on: June 20, 2008, 11:38 AM »

I can't believe the level of oppression we have to live with in nigeria.
i have heard it has happened to a couple of people but i never believed it would ever be my turn.
On my way home yesterday evening, on shehu shagari way, i heard sirens of a
police convoy coming up behind me.
true to the norm i swerved to the extreme right to alllow them pass.
the first bike passed, followed by a 406 the last car however was a ford ranger pick up truck
(registration number withheld for security reasons)
on overtaking me, the ranger swerved and broadsided me
(in what i would call a scene straight out of action movies)
making me jump the road divider and stalling my engine.
enraged i started up and gave hot pursuit.
the pursuit came to an end when they turned into louis edet house.
i would have followed when i was adviced by my folks not to follow cause
it would all be blamed on me.
now i am going to have to panel beat and spray the whole right side of my vehicle
you can't imagine my anger!

well all that calmed down when i got home and shot every policeman i could find in gta IV

lungwun,
Persuit is the right thing to do.
Brushing your car is with a criminal intent, since you clearly parked off the road.
I would advise, you contact your insurance company(if you have one) and sue the Police for  damages.
As a matter of fact this should be a reason why people should have Insurance for your car,at least 3rd party insurance.

sue nija police ---------------- impossible

but on a second tot, watching d news d oda day, a released inmate of 1 month or so claimed 3million damage from d police, saying he became mentally inbalanced after coming out of d prison, that he was ok before entering, and d court ordered d police to pay, if they paid is another story for another day

There is no entity that is above the law only if u can pursue the case with credible evidence.
The inmate have a right to medical examination and treatment.failure could amount to negligence and a breach of his human rights.

Jeeze! From what you've posted, it appears motor insurance is optional in Nigeria?!  Shocked
Do folk actually drive around in Nigeria in uninsured cars??  Undecided

we all drive with 3rd party insurance, thats d rule, but i have never seen anyone getting anything out of it,
but people go for comprehensive insurance for better coverage, so relax oh.

Siena,
I thought you from Naija ?
People do drive around with a  photo copied third aprty certificate, are these certificate real, are they tracable to the Insurance company(that is the issue).
They usually go through an rogue underwriters for N500 and you will get the certificate. Now,the police cannot ascertain if the certificate is real or not and in case of an accident(there u see 2 men fighting on who is right or wrong).
The Nigeria government ban importation of old cars(above 8 years) without looking at other was to remove ricketty cars from the road with enabling laws.
In a simlar case,my elder bros was almost run over by a Trailer driver, but only crushed the rear part of the car.The driver could not provide  insurance papers but an excuse(paper dey for oga office 4 lagos). The office was called and the Boss refuse to be vacariously liable for the accident(the driver non pass the road we tell am to follow go Onitsha). Finally, funnly the Magistrate granted damage for the car without reference to the insurance cover. The poor driver was made to foot the bill(although my bros help him with 50%)

1.Check this out-a friend of mine gave a carpenter N80,000 to start off a set of chairs for his new flat, carpenter disappears for a while only to be seen and the police was called to arrest him.He was detained for over a week with no relative to bail him only for the police to call the complainant to the station & demanded that he should bail the carpenter and forget about the money as the man obviously is a low life has no relatives(that thought it decent enough to look for their family member).
After this police demanded N40,000 for their job done & CLOSE THE CASEFILE.
My guy just asked to go & ease himself and disappeared from the station.
Naija police in action.
2.Armed robbery took place in a flat in surulere police was called in but guess what they ended up arresting the family for 3 days --saying there was insider leakage of information.
Forget naija police
