Chevening Scholarship Programme - Nigeria
APPLICATION PROCEDURES AND CRITERIA
The next batch of selection will be in May – July 2007.
Applicants must meet the standard requirements as stated in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the main page.
Chevening Preliminary Applications are available for collection at all British Council offices in Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt and Abuja between May and July each year
Applications will only be considered from younger professionals who:
have at least an upper second class degree
are aged between 25-40 [men] and 25-45 [women]
can demonstrate outstanding achievement in their field
can demonstrate the potential to make positive impact on the future of Nigeria.
Priority will be given to the following subject areas:
governance (including strengthening democracy / judicial system, police / military reform, electoral reform, journalism / media studies, peace and conflict studies)
energy (including security, governance of oil industry, REEEP)
sustainable development (including economic and public sector reform, tackling corruption, non-oil sector economic development, communications, privatisation, MDGs, poverty reduction, education management)
business administration / economics
Islam
Exceptional candidates from other fields may also be considered. Funding is not available for Ph.D. programmes.
CO-SPONSORS
We announce Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (Nigeria) Ltd as co-sponsors. Shell are co-sponsoring 2 scholarships per year starting with 2003/2004 batch and ending with the 2008/2009 batch.
