Is The Nigerian Accent Sexy?
« on: August 25, 2005, 05:42 PM »

- Is the Nigerian accent sexy?
- Which is the most unromantic Nigeria accent
- And which is the most sexy
- Do you find certain tribe accent revolting
- Would u date anyone with a thick accent?
let me know

Also, guys/ladies, have you ever checked out an attractive guy/girl and was like "damn he/she is fine" and when they opened their mouth to talk you, was like "damn!"  Did their accent automatically turn you off - like from 100% attraction to 25% manage?

I think the ajebuta yourba kid accent is sexy. I mean yoruba kids that are like not Strong accented. Their accent is so sexy. Like when They are speaking english...and the yoruba thingy still comes in and it just spices the talk up.

I don't like people with STRONG accents, damnnn, nahh. I know u can have u accent, but not the strong one.

Uhmm, yeah, someone's accent has turned me off. This Igbo guy i once met, cute (hott) but when he called his little sister and told her to come, i was like..... arghhhh. Not u.

I also think a hausa kid that lived in Uk for long, as cute accent (at least the ones i have talked to). Their accent is like, mixed and cute.

Some Nigerian accents are sexy, but it does depend on where you come from.  I like the Warri pidgin english; I like the Edo accent.  I don't like the Hausa accent; I don't fancy the Yoruba accent at all.

I love pidgin English hehe.

This reminded me of one guy that was a classmate in my high school. It was in my senior year, this guy came into the United States like 2 weeks before he started school. He was asked to read a passage in an English book. This guy pronounced the word beach as bitch, the whole class and the teacher thought he called her bitch. I couldnt control myself, i laughed the hell out of myself. He was taken to principal and it was in the principal's office they confirmed he had a really really thick accent. I later saw the guy in class, then i asked him where he is from he said Nigeria, i was like where exactly, he told me Cross-River which obviously i had no clue until i asked my dad then he told me they have a funny accent.

I have seen pretty girls in the past, went close to chat 'em up. I said "hello". From the response i got , all i could say was "Sorry, Not u".

I think Yoruba is sexy. Not the hard ones but the refined (mixed with english).

I personally think it's sexy(Nigerian accent), as in someone with a good accent
Most revolting accent- d Ibo/Igbo language
I have to agree with Layi on this one, d Yoruba language( that language kills me, but only with them ''butta's'')/The Hausa accent's sexy too
date n e one with a thick accent? i could, that could b d love of my life n i'm not goin to let him go just because he has some accent.

in my opinion it depends on the speakers oreintation and bakground/tribe. ange-butter peeps generally have sexier accents. some peeps though can switch easily between their native tongue accent and the phonetic type of english. go listen to them fake ass radio/TV personalities.

on the whole i love all Nigerian languages/accents. love the variety and how funny they can be. calabar, Igbo, yoruba, hausa, warri...all of em!

you guys forgot the za for the when it comes to hausas speaking. za boy  Grin or zat tin. But anywayz the well educated hausas speak the best english with the best accent in Nigeria.

I find the yoruba accent annoying. No offence, I am yoruba, but i don't think i fancy it. luckily i didnt grow up in a yoruba environment, so you wouldnt even know I am yoruba when you hear my voice. I think i have an asian accent currently with a british flavour Sad . What about you? guys?

Kazey you might not like yoruba accent but that doesn't mean it's not pretty good ok?

I love yoruba accent and if i speak you will bow.

I school here in Nigeria, travelling out apart.

But I believe my accent isn't bad at all.

People tell me my accent is enticing with sugar coated mouth.

I am prud of my tribe kazey.

If you like live forever in a foreign land you will still be regarded there as a second class citizen.

Take or leave it.

Mr GP.
You got me dead wrong. Appreciating accent does not have anything to do with patriotism. Besides don't I have the right to say what I like or don't like? Is Nigerian Accent Sexy? I said No , I don't like a particular one, and that particular one is the Yoruba accent. And also I am very glad that i don't have the accent. Does that make me unpatriotic?

Not having pride in my tribe? I don't remember saying that I hate being yoruba?
Well that is your way of expressing yourself Smiley. Peace.

Kazey, we are good friends we can't join issues here.
Please get me right too.
I do not talk of patrotism.
In your post, you make me feel that anyone from yoruba doesn't good accent.
This is not true.
So don't say it's a way of expressing myself. I don't express mysef rudely.
I am an elderly man and I don't feel like insulting others so that I don't get insulted.

So kazey, cheer up!
Nothing spoil.

Anywayz misunderstandings always happen, I am cool Smiley. I am Yoruba? my accent is not bad?  Being Yoruba doesnt have anything to do with the accent, the environment is what matters. If you grow up in a typical Yoruba village, you would always have the spice, thats what i believe in, and I know it is true.

No disrespect intended. My apologies if I have offended you in my post.
