Who cares weder Nigerian language is sexy or not, we can't speak more than the english, have u heard the scottish or the wales when they speak english, it is annoying. Na people like OgaMadam go come abroad dey speak*innit*, them no knw say oyinbo dey laugh for their back.

Years ago when i came to UK, meself dey feel ashame of my ascent and i was trying to feel among but now i don't give a CRAP. oyinbo are more interested in what comes out of my mouth not the way i say it. The only word i love to pronounce well na POUNDS.

Urban yoruba language is definitely cool. But guys, have you heard an IJESA man speak? 'OGODUMARE', IJESA is the coolest, sexiest lingo in Naija. Heard of a 'Conc' Ijesha guy that landed in London of recent, My God his accent was a comic releave of sort, especially when he was given some 'oyinbo' food,  'Ki yee, ko ri bi imi arobooo? Inn l'eba abi amala li bee. Ko gbo na feli, feli?' (What in the world is this, it looks like a baby's poopoo, don't you have a pretty hot eba or amala here?). True story !!!

i don't usually like to post on here cause most people on here are retarded or if not,extremely unenlightened. . .
anyway to the question. . from experience most non Nigerians i come accross love the accent,white black asian. .
don't really matter whobut what gets the few close people to me most excited is when i start rapping casual broken english to a fellow naija. . .
the look on they face is something to beholdclose friends also want me to tell them sentences in igbo,yoruba and so on. . .

you know we Nigerians have our local languages,hausa igbo yoruba etc,we have English also and then we have the pidgeon english that we invented. . compare that to a jamaican whom when u tell to speak jamaican starts to speak patwa. . .(its like people asking u your local language and you start to speak broken english) or the average american who can only speak english,
across most of north and south america,people speak only the colonial masters languages,mexicans speak spanish,brazilians speak portuguese and so on,any type of local or indignous language has been pretty much wiped out. . think about this then u will appreciate our various languages from which our accents come from for the most part. . people will say its all history,its true,but until we colonize an european country,force them to speak igbo,or yoruba and make them forget about french or german or italian or whateva,then know its a big deal. .  .
of course like most people point out u wont really appreciate it until you leave the country,but at least i expected people to be more proud of their mother tongues. . .

dumb question - Nigerian accent? which one? the yoruba accent, the ibo accent, the hausa accent, the warri accent, the calabar accent, which one are you talking about that is sexy?

Knowing fully well that we don't speak with the same accent in Nigeria, is becomes very dumbe then to say "the Nigerian accent" - which one do we assume you are refeeering to?

hot-angel & scorpion whatever your names are,why are u always on our case(igbo haters).whether u're hausa,igbo & yoruba-ajebutta accent will always sound good.It doesn't matter what tribe u're from.check out Uzodinma Okonjo-Iweala's accent(author of the book "Beast of No Nation") when he featured on New Dawn With Funmi Iyanda.Even Ireti Doyle offered him her 20 year-old daughter.Listen to Former Common Wealth Sec-Gen Emeka Anyaoku's accent or Ike Nwachukwu.Please try and  appreciate d fact that there is more to life than having a nice accent."ONE LOVE"

Nigeria is an English speaking Country, Nigerians are native speakers of English (do your research)

Really  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

So why do schools insist on applicants taking TOEFL and TSE as a requirement for admission

@uche

where i'm at they don't expect nigerians to take ielts classes cuzz in nigeria english is the first language. i understand the toefl requiremets for the US nd prolly canada,in my opinion they don't know what they are talking about, i also think they need to work on their own english. the british people don't require all them toefl from english speaking countries

not supprised that the so called haters of igbo accent are majorly from the other side of the niger
listen up, the igbo accent is the lovliest i hv ever come across, we have anambra, imo, abia etc assent with there own own spice that makes them thick.
frankly, i love yoruba accent, but i think its its one of the most repulsive u can think of. my appology to baba shege, prophrt tb jushua etc.

well i know some nigeria accent could be funny
For Example

An igbo man with a thick accent will call , love na rove,precious na plecious.
A yoruba man with thick accent will call witch , winsh, oshodi na osodi
An hausa man with

@gina34

Not all igbos have the problem substituting R for L and vice versa.

It is commonly and Anambra state and partly Enugu states that have such problem.Calling Lecturer  Recturer and London Rondon.,Million   Mirrion ,Room   Loom

Imo and Abia states do not have such problems and the their accents are lighter, but all igbos hadly can avoid the "Nnaaa" thing before making statements.

The African accent is sexy to me. I won't particularly pick "Nigerian" accent, as there's no such thing, there are so many different accents in Nigeria.

But, some accents "from Nigeria" can make my spine tingle!  Cool

dude, give it a break, i am not from the other side of the niger. i am from the niger delta and i stand by what i said, yoruba and igbo accents are a no no! ever been in a store and suddenly there is this loud noise only for u to turn around and it an igbo man/woman on the cell phone yelling their voice out with some heavy accents? there is this igbo dude i keep telling, u don't have to be loud on the phone, i get irritated by him when he talks on the phone, so loud and the accent doesnt sound good at all. and the way the americans around look at him because they can hardly tell what he is saying even though he is speaking english. this dude, even speaks to white folks and still once in a while add igbo unconsciously and he will lost them in the conversation while i will be cracking up with laughter.

At times, good accent is a gift. My own is very sweet and attractive. You cannot listen to me and identify my tribe. It changes depending on the tribe of those discussing with me. Check it out if you care 4 it.
