Crap. What culture is tattooing? What culture is sagging pants? What culture is rapping to glorify crime, debasement of women and drugs? What culture is a thug?

50yrs ago blacks werent dressing like this? Did they import this "culture" over night?

what about nigeia?? there was a time where no girl wore jeans and pants, but now it is apart of their culture.

I'm going to assume you're black but you are probably Nigerian, so pardon me.
Laissezfaire, there are ways to space yourselves from the white community, and so far dressing like pigs is one of the many reasons you're being treated like dirty pigs.

I'm not against freedom of expression.  Black youths and self accorded thugs can continue dressing like this if they feel it glorifies them and gives them an identity, but AFAIK there isn't much to be proud of about dressing like a criminal.

am not trying to convince you. Crap or no crap its left to you to feel what you want.
You will never catching me sagging, neither will you find tattoo on my body. It because of my culture and how i was raised.
they have theirs- free them,
Africans didnt wear corporate wears 150 years ago
400 years ago there was nothing like jeans.
during the era of christ there was nothing like suits.
You can call them thugs, they are what they are.
why don't you talk about the native african that don't wear jack?

What is culture?
the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group: the youth culture.
Tattoo is a common phenomenom in the US. Just cause you view it otherwise don't make it less of a culture.

I wasnt talking about Lil wayne lyrics - two different things.

Well whatever! You're arguing that it's a matter of personal appeal and taste.  But since when is it okay to glorify blatantly unsightly dressing and outright negativity.  Dressing like this is even banned in some cities, is it not?

Am a Nigerian - and I represent Nigerian culture.
Nice statement in bold. Hasty conclusion with no backing. You don't know me, you havent even seen me. I wonder why you think I am being treated like a criminal.
You don't have to make comments like that. just something to think about

That's why I began by saying that I would address you as if you are a black man.  I know you are not black.  I just wanted you to feel the spite I have about the issue.  If you're willing to support them in ignorance, you should be somewhat willing to bear some of the blame.

please, ghetto culture doesnt mean all AAs are ghetto.

this isnt about who wore clothes 400 years ago.

Tattoos are common to some particular groups in the US- that doesnt mean its as widely accepted as you want to imply here. And all over the web there are pictures of  "ghetto" proms, with black youths shown dressed up for prom in the ghetto style. When people are no longer able to understand the difference between normal dress sense and abnormal dressing, then there's a real problem. I always thought the ghetto prom pictures were fake, but now I really don't know.

The sudden generation of hip hop and rap artists who make it their trademark to glorify the ghetto life, doesnt mean all AAs are like that. There are actually many blacks who are being forced to look elsewhere for entertainment because they can't identify with or relate to what goes for "black" music these days.

Even 30 years ago what's currently called white music was produced and sung by blacks.

I don't normally get involved in rap/hiphop arguments anyway. I've found the supporters too militant and quick to take offence, just like their role models.

It is never okay to tell a child that degradation of women is appropriate.  This cowardly hardcore rap has been sending that wrong message to children for many years.

That's you brother, that's you.  Even though you don't support them, their music is out there and that's what their community is choosing to listen to.  Your selectivity does not reflect the selection of many others, nor does it defeat the premise of the existence of this playground of hateful youths.

i want to know why it is not seen "trashy" when white boys roll around the street with skinny jeans and piercings on their eyes, lips, and tongues. then go dye their hair some abstract color and paint their nails black. then where eyeliner and stay out all night listen to that music of theirs. oh wait, that is seen as being "Proper", right Tongue

As you can see, this thread is about AA.

Why should I worry about the whites and their fashion?

Does their origin trace immediately back to Africa?

When foreigners are abusing the whites, do they tell them to go back to Africa? Like they do those disgraceful dressing AA?

Child please, instead of applauding their atrociousness, try to atleast tell them the truth.

It's fashion when they wear jeans, even baggy, w/e. . . . . but it's beyond fashion when one can see the fabric of their briefs and boxers. Do you not agree? Or do you see it as the ish?
