Springbank bankrolls INTERN II broadcast

http://www.vanguardngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=11325&Itemid=0

Intern, the Nigerian business television reality show, will now be sponsored by Springbank Plc as it announced its  takeoff date for season two to be aired on four national TV stations. The participants will be 18 young Nigerian graduates vying for the coveted position of the Intern.

Owners of the Intern brand, Ideashaus Showbiz Ltd, and management of Springbank made this joint announcement at a press dinner in Lagos.

Ofem Ekapong Ofem, CEO, Ideashaus Showbiz said: “The Intern has kept its number one position as the most intellectually stimulating TV reality show with its core essence in empowerment and corporate social responsibility. This second season promises even more.
“In conjuction with our sponsors, each intern will be given assistance to start a business modelled after the incubation programmes that account for over 15 per cent of the growth of the Indian and Chinese economies.

While thanking the management of Springbank for “keeping the Intern dream alive,” Ofem also acknowledged the support of Celtel Nigeria and Tinapa Business Resort.
Of the 18 interns billed to go on air early July, 15 of them who had just reported to The Intern House made a surprise appearance at the dinner, all looking fully geared for the gripping challenges ahead of them. The Intern will again be directed and produced by ace movie maker, Tade Ogidan.

Austeen Avwunufe, Executive Director, Springbank, who represented the Managing Director of the bank, Dr. Suleyman Ndanusa, confirmed the bank’s decision to sponsor The Intern. He said: “As a forward-looking bank, we are quite pleased with the platform The Intern presents in empowering young Nigerian graduates. The programme aligns with some of our core values as a bank. Indeed, we look forward to the 13 weeks of real conflict, real strategies and real business TV broadcast, which The Intern will showcase. We see beyond the 18 housemates; we see millions of young Nigerians watching their TV sets and getting inspired to also become achievers.”

It could be recalled that between January – March 2007, Nigeria witnessed a revolution in TV programming with the debut of The Intern on national TV. The show was said to have increased the visibility, customer base and stock value of its then headline sponsor (another bank) considerably and is expected to do the same for its new sponsors.

“Broadcast of the second season of The Intern will commence in the first week of July  on MBI, AIT, STV and NTA. MBI and AIT will broadcast at 8_9pm on Wednesdays and Thursday, STV will broadcast at 11.30 – 12.30am Wednesdays and Thursdays while NTA will broadcast Fridays and Saturdays at 11.00pm_12.00am.”

as per the website thing, its general but i think its more down to the owners of the site and not the webmaster. afterall if the owner no come up with new content, d webmaster no go get anything to update! anoda reason might be money - website na anoda expense & i bet is very low on the scale, so it gets the least amount & attentiondd

Intern 1 was supposed to  air from late 2006, it started 2007.

How are we so sure this will not be the same too?

If they know they don't have full info for the webmaster, why set up the site?

UPDATE! sort of

According to my sources, the program will now be starting the 3rd week of July (we sincerely hope).

The delay is due to some delays from sponsors etc etc.

The contestants are cooped up in a hotel in Lagos, growing fat!

Most likely the show will be held in Lagos afterall but u can never tell.

Thats all for now!

Lets keep waiting! fingers crossed!

[b]The Intern Season 2, is a whole bunch of bloody Crap !!!
First, The Contestants are lodged in a shitty Hotel somewhere in Lekki, and totally denied access to Everything. Their Cellphones have been taken from them, they can't go out, can't receive visitors, Girls can't go to the Boys' room and vice-versa, they can't smoke or drink, they can't even mingle freely with other Guests, they are hopelessly monitored and treated like Crap, and the disgusting thing is that they don't mind,  I have never come across a bunch of desperate dumb-heads in my Life. They are so deprived and abused, and they don't know it !  The living condition is Crazy,, miserable food, poor, cheap and tasteless, and always served late, bad water (too much Chlorine, dirty and brown), and worst of all they stay THREE in a Room, without any medical Clearance or Check-up.
The Producer has no focus, he 's kept them in the Hotel for more than three weeks now, and the poor things don't know what's going on. The Show is not on air yet, the Montage has not been shot, there 's no Publicity, nothing. Obviously there 's no Money ! They owe the hotel over a million naira, sometimes the Contestants are not even given Food because the Money paid has expired, etc,
The Contestants, are so BORING, OLD, DUMB, SHALLOW AND DESPERATE. Their desperation scares me, desperate for fame or for the Paltry Prize Money Huh??, beats me !
The Hot Gist is relationships have been banned, the Producer beat up is Wife in the Hotel, in front of the Hotel staff and the Contestants. Also, some of the Female Contestants secretly sleep with other guests. The latest gist is Sex-scandal, a Male Contestant claimed a female Contestant sexually harrassed him !
The Show has no Substance, the Contestants are Raz, Boring, Dumb (especially the Girls), stupid and hardly intelligent. I DEFINATELY DON'T LOOK FORWARD TO IT, I BET IT WILL BE A WASTE OF MY TIME. Meamwhile, I 'll keep U guys posted. My Training is still on, so I will still be here, in the same Hotel with these Stupid Intern Jokers !

@Rapunzel,

Now I am not doubting the veracity of all your statements but I must say that some of them are not entirely true. I dont have first hand facts (you obviously do) but the manner in which you report them leaves a lot to be desired!

There are always rules in situations like these to help maintain but we all know that rules are also broken! Those rules (no smoking, drinking etc) are there for a purpose. Some of them are getting internet access at least, I dont know how o!

Calling them names is in poor taste. They have decided to go in for the show at their personal expense & I am sure they have counted the cost. The beginnings of the show have been for like a year & I give them kudos for still sticking to it despite all the ups & downs. We are all deperate in this country whether we admit it or not!

You talk about their living conditions being crap! Its not their fault - if that is so I would blame the producers for picking a crappy hotel & the hotel management for having a crappy organisation.

Now I assume you are staying in that hotel for the training. Are you in a better section of the hotel? Arent you in the same crappy circumstances? Drinking the same bad water, eating the same miserable food? Does that mean your organization is crappy? No offense meant

You have to also realise that the producer is not using his money to fund a major part of the show & he is seeking sponsors/has sponsors. Yes I blame him for poor organisational aspects but he cant take all the blame. Afterall if the show is a huge hit tomorrow (we hope) the sponsors will step forward to take all the credit!

@rapuzel, now, reading your post has got me wondering if u'd have done a better job. Coincidentally, am in d same hotel which u have termed crappy. Perhaps am in another section of the hotel where all these u mentioned fizzle out. I am also in the 'training' u are in. I cant say i know any of these interns personally but so far i have been impressed with the way and manner they have comported themselves. The rules were written and signed by them. This like every other reality show is a pre shoot.

The apprentice were in a hotel for 2months before the show, this is just 3weeks and u r making arguable condemnations. Show me a reality show that allows contenstants their cellphones! For the records, this is the second hotel they are staying in.They were moved from the previous because of late meals as i gather, and their new hotel, not withstanding its defaults has given them a homely environment amongst ather things. The last time i saw them, they were indulged in a task which the winners were treated to price money and the others to a movie. That just made me a littlse jjelous i must confess.

Without sounding defensive, i comend the producers for bringing together 18people from divers backgrounds(personal attacks on their characters will be grossly unfair as they were not handpicked as i gather, they went through a process).

I am on training from another african country,i have asked if i can get the franchise. Maybe i am missin something,so rapuzel, tell me something better and i would listen. But if you choose to take below the belt hits at these chaps,i suggest you put your bestfoot forward as i have seen the jabs these guys cant land.

And for the sex scandal, i must say it really did happen. And the girl did try to molest a guy, but they are adults can they not handle their dirty laundry themselves???

I cant wait for the cameras to roll on these guys, already i see drama, biz acumen and, i hope am still in nigeria when it starts.

@Didii: Just a correction. The contestants of The Apprentice Africa were flown in to Lagos in January and lodged at Eko Hotel. Production of  the show, orientation, montage started immediately. The contestants had access to all the 5-star services in Eko Hotel during their stay. They were moved to the Apprentice Mansion early January. The show started airing on February 24, 2008. The Apprentice Africa was a big budget, international production. No such thing as""sponsors are yet to bring money". The production was professionally done with an international cast. While, I applaud the minds behind The Intern, I think comparing the two shows is like comparing watermelons to native garden egg. With The Apprentice Africa being the former.
