Emceez Poetik: The Spoken Word Thread
« on: July 02, 2008, 08:46 PM »

This is a medium 4 emceez who are blessed wt d gift of fluency in poetry to express themselves freely using poetic license. I started as a poet before i discovered Mic Science and i still connect wt my inner muse every now and then. I hope other poetic emceez sieze this opportunity to pen sm ill thoughts via the spoken word.

The Spoken Word Thread is hereby declared OPEN!

I pen this thoughts as a special dedication 2 Jean Crae of the group 'Floetry'. Thanx 4 d inspiration.

SOUL SISTA

i travelled through sound trying to find my soul rhythm
drawn to the eccentric afrocentricity of baduism

then i found Lauryn
before she found Zion
she was killing me softly wtout even trying
vividest expressnz of thot
captured on vinyl
we experienced d joy of defeat transformed 2 triumph

The miseducatn album was us
droppin that love science
i lived every day wt Ms Hill
in broken silence

then came d drama wt d marleys
she made a break frm d rational
tried 2 reconnect wt L boogie
on "Mr International"

just was not d same
all i touched was pain
she in her own world
im doing solos in d rain

Never ever thot i would find a Soul Sista
till Jean made me 'Say Yes'
ma hrt and soul kissed her

'My tears become Orphans'
i repeated that line often
that voice, that lisp
whispered in ma ears often

naturally deep
u had me talkin in ma sleep
reciting your poetry
churning up d sheets

never thot i'D find ma soul sista in d UK
bt your whole vibe had me goin like 'Touchè!'

Tho we've never met
your ill thoughts rocked ma mental
harder than d cyphaz u spat on instrumentals

frm d moment i pressed play
i found soul-kindred
floetry, u had that fluency
needed 2 spark ma interest

2 albums later,
im still discovering u
u inspire me,Jean
aint many women like u

wish that i cud paint u
take a picture of your soul
I thank God that he made u
a story yet to unfold

i wish i was in love
bt this right here is much deeper
thanx 4 inspiring me,Jean
ma soul sista!

You shuda seen d prospects

he done set-off a chain reaction

Damn, u shuda seen em

                         "My Swag Vol 2"

Man, I feel like I got a God visit

Memories categorized in anticipation I dwell in prison visit
Came in black cusz I just lost one today

Shot fired in me, angers I wished never was any way

Locked in my body, self conscious my voice yelling in me
Like I heard my daughter crying "Open the door, daddy it's me"
Ghosts flying, images crafting I can see the lords visit

But my swag so high it was only a reminiscent visit

Chapters I got, My swag higher than Coke cooked in a pot
Back in the 80's when I never got a birthday gift from the man I wished was pop

Keys to visitations n' this keyboard was all I got

If it wasn't for heavens, I wouldn't believe there was God

                             "My Swag Vol 3"

Chemicals invade chronicals of man
Nights despair the agony of a tragic daylight
Lines of tears in oceans as Oceans proceed to sky

There and now with hands tied up waving hi

My past in guns now I spray words in poetry
Gifts of a cripple my swag comes with heriditary
Man of chronicals invade chemicals

Hi waving up tied hands with now and there
Proceed with into the leave wit faith and care

MAMA I MADE IT

Dear Mama
i made it!
i  made fanatiks
out of hard-core atheists
in this jungle of lunatiks
your boy was d craziest

Mama i made it
through d wildnerness like David
i smile everyday nw
got paper 2 play wt it
tho they said i'D never make it
doin sumpn that is sacred

Mama, look at your boy
and picture my life nw
d rhymes come easy
i be holdin d mics down
thangs don changed
im living lavish 4 Christ now

hope u like d house i bought u
built 2 last long
am doin d thangs that pops cud not do
before he passed on
Pops gave me an education
God gave me a platform

im on tour all d time
cudnt make it 4 thanksgiving
im sorry,ma
that is just d price 4 large-living
God-Hip hop is ma occupatn nw
its God-driven

Say a prayer 4 your son,ma
because i need your spiritual
assistance as i wage a battle
that is more than d lyrical
being a God-emcee aint childsplay
it gets critical

Packed-out shows and Sold-out concerts
first-class trips to spots i never dreamed of
mammoth-size crowds hollerin when d rhymes splurt
shell-toe adidas, Maybachs wt d clean dubs

Shonuff, Mama, i made it
lifestyle elevated
took over d game
wt God-rap I created
cudnt hve done wtout u
Mama,we both done made it

I don't know why I always key long-assed isht but here it goes

The Road Thatz Narrow

I'm just trying key the pieces to the puzzle like a nut to the bolt
Like the thunderbolt, you 'can't climb' even if you were a ladder because you hit the wrong note
Fixing my eyez ahead like a groom at the altar expectin the bride
The bride is coming late, the groom's still smilin' tho he got a different thing on the mind
The whole congregation's waitin', some are at the reception already
The Road is Narrow, Steep and Sharp like an Arrow but I still gotz go steady
Holding on to the creeks as I creep around the steep edges of the motorway
It's like walkin in the rain, you lose your steps and slide back all the way, there's more to tha pain
You finally get back but there's too many people trying to squeeze past
The air is tough, the breathing is rough, the brain can't register when to and when not to breathe fast
You're being stared at like you're naked or you're clothed and everyone else is naked
It's like a fat cow at the abbatoirs, all eyes on you, you're next to death, your endtime is stated
Well, that's how it feels when you're climbing that road to success - no one's supportin'
That's how it is when you're following your doctrine - everyone's not supportin'
Thatz The Road Thatz Narrow

« #20 on: July 15, 2008, 08:21 PM »

FEENING FOR REALNESS

A perpetual quest 4 unclouded vision
drives me daily as i make life's decisions
to be on point, accurate
wt perfect precision

if music be d food 4 love
what's food 4 thot?
I'D rather make music 4 dudes wt roots abroad
than sing to the gallery while fools applaud

they say 'Rap is entertainment'
spreading that poison they came with
i gain God-wisdom wt d flow
them rappers just gain weight
anticipatin ma justificatn
homie, i can't wait!

Hrd Common say 'when forever gon come?'
my sentiments exactly,
will ma senses go numb
frm listenin to d crap and nonsense we call songs?

ma soul takes refuge in faith
love and solitude
lonliness embraces me as
i display fortitude
walk wt a righteous persona
wt a swag and an attitude

i know one day
Muzik will acknowledge me
a true work of d art,real
wt no hypocrisy
who dropped science str8 frm d heart wt no apologies

until then, im a kip on
speakin d TR.UT.H
livin d very linez that i spit in d booth
God-Hip hop is d movement!
Rhyme + reason 4 youths

Tha Rap Prophet got a lyrical illness
a fever for believerz
wt a passion 4 skillz blessed
silent mic science
stay feenin 4 realness

[Shout-out 2 ma boy,Jduck A.k.a J-Nice tha Lyrikal Assassin]

                                    "My Swag Vol 4"

Tears of a man I recall in smile of mine
Secrets of the irony dwelled was his in dime
Holy was sacrified his mine in the sake of vain
Cry was his mine in the sake of pain

Travelled are his soul to the valley of no more
Battered are his minds in the land but he now in smile
Sweats of a land prisoner, he dwelt no more
Shade of the sky he resides with cheers of wine

Past his image of siblings, he walked behind
Rage, Anger but with comforts where he now reside
Can't wait, can't see the past or what he left behind
Mine cries till this day "Mama come join me where I now reside"

Thatz cool. Rhaps. . much props.

Just another verse

The guy's life is like a desert, there's not a soul to be found
Nothing's grown in there for a while, there's an echo but no sound
On the outside, ma little' guy is broken like old OK plastics
The mind is working on the next tactic, planning to get his heart back from the attic
And while he's at it, flashbacks hit the times he tot were fantastic
But now his life is static, a pain in the flesh like government taxes
Put the memories behind him because he says he's way past it
Life ain't bout the dough you make, but the number of practice
That keeps you way above the waters like Jesus walked
The effort you put to something can't leave, a good name cannot be socks(spoilt)
So this guy woke up from the trance that he was in
Gotta get the life goin and get it goin in the morning

  lets go!

 lets go beyond the inception,
way before my past,
when the beginning never existed
the end never known,
when music seemed to be dead,
 and humming had no tone,

Lets take a walk into the future,
where mistake make the present its clone
the love for hatred leaving togetherness alone!,
the present would have been dead,
buried in either shame or pride,
the then 'past' having so much to hide.

lets embark on a journey into the mysterious,
where our third eye sees only the abstract,
scoptoma! as such we are blind to reality,
but when asked to compare ,
we can't tell how they contrast,
we can't tell how they were made or why,
we just know tis way beyond the eye!
            lets go!!!!
