Nokia S40 Vs Sony Ericsson(software)

I have been using a se phone(k300i) for over 2yrs, i can't imagine d volume of data i ve transferd on mtn and celtel netwrk, i never at any point develop major software fault, now i bought a nokia phone (3500c) and in less than 2 months, i ve flashd it twice, yet no solution to the problem,  Whenever i switch on, it displays 'contact service' and switches off. Is that a problem with nokia phones or i  was just unlucky.
