From experience, I know that one thing that attracts customers the same hairdressing salons is gossip. Ladies like to chat about everything and anything while doing their hair. Therefore I think it would be a good idea to present your salons environment as a welcoming one. Paint it in welcoming colours, buy magazines, employ chatty hairdressers etc and you can also buy a couple of kids toys/books for those who have no one to look after their kids and so come with them. This just shows concern on your part - And people like to be cared for. I wish you all the best.
