Is there anything wrong With girlfriends once in a while footing the bill?

I know in the nigerian culture it is the norm for the guy to foot the bill when couples go out and do stuff together but hey, we are in the 21th century, I have no objections if a guy decides to take of his girlfriends every need but on a personal note to be honest I like a girl who is strong and independent,and  has her own thing going on for her and yeah sure I would gladly pay for stuff but nothing would impress me more than my girlfriend out of the blue insisting to pay for something when we go out, it might not be the most expensive thing ever but really its the thought that counts

what do you my fellow nairalanders think, am I way off or what to think this way?

I agree with you, they should start payin once in a while . . . there is one method those girls use these days, once the cashier tells you the amount, you'll notice the babe would take 2 steps back or she'll would hug you from the back leaving you all alone with the cashier  

i'm kind of familiar with the "hun i just need to go to the ladies" before the monster bill gets paid

Actually, I prefer to pay my in the early stages. I don't want the guy thinking I owe him something because he bought me buns & Coke.  No way, Jose.

Now if we've been dating for awhile, it's not an issue. Whoever brings the money out first, no wahala.
