Being on the street dosnt make one Streetsmart

And i don't know the kind of Bookies you have met.

The ones i know, may study one thing and are devoted to that field
but are very versed in many others

Believe me, growing up in some places make you discover that your greatest asset is your brain

Being streetsmart comes from having a brain box of experience, yours and various people's past events
Tell me how many ex-Lagosians can fall for scam?

Then that's not the average bookworm
Most of them know just what they need to know bout one thing
Try asking a nigerian Professor about something outside his field

i have seen people on the street being duped countless times.

i know a Lawyer*

i have asked and believe me they know things

C'mon, lawyers are trained to be streetsmart
That is their profession, to escape from any situation
If not that, then what's being streetsmart all about?

Any lawyer will argue two sides of a case and convince you
They don't get that only from the classrooms, they get that from their internships and countless other ways

Then those ones, ma'am are just DAFT.

I'm Nigerian, I've seen people lie without flinching, I've seen all that over and over again
How will someone now come and tell me to bring my money for one big business deal?

book smart because that encompasses high element of common sense/reasoning which can then apply to street smart.

why do one have to be street smart anyway when it's not as if the society we live (definitely not nigeria) in requires street smartness

Then why's there need for interviews and things like that?
Why don't we just pick the person with the highest number of degrees or select by the University League ranking?

The world is looking for people that can apply ideas to different situations as quick as possible
When you have that, they'll teach you the 'book' part of it

They had to apply street brains into all situations

You want booksmart, I'll go to the Ivy League and bring them in thousands

my definition of being street smart is one's ability to have that cunning or shrewdness NEEDED to live in, or to deal with people in an urban environment, business deals/clients, etc. any one can have common sense but street smarts is a whole different category. being street smart is almost like one's ability to stay one step ahead.
