I think its very useful, I know it had some problems before but you should bring it back, I noticed most threads don't last long as they should because most people can't find/reply to comments
you can have a poll to see what other users think

that's what u get when one person feels/thinks he/she can do it all. like a company with an employee strength of 5000 and only one person as the M.D, same person as the G.M, same person as the A.G.M, same person as the Chief Accountant, same person as the Accountant, same person as the Chief Security, same person as the Head GateMan, good grief am i getting insane?! |

Forget the number of people who log on everyday
it is clear that participation is dwindling gradually. Oh shut up. I have statistics to tell me whether or not participation is "dwindling", but participation isn't my only measure of success. I am more proud of the fact that we have not been condemned in the media for a while. please,i want you to help out on this problem,as a friend of mine that i invited to this forum

can he do . He needs to participate in existing topics before he can start posting new ones! that's what u get when one person feels/thinks he/she can do it all. It depends on what you're goals are. I'm more concerned about not losing money. Hiring moderators might make the forum a little bit cleaner, but I have to pay for an office, computers for the moderator, Internet access, a generator and an inverter, etc, as well as security for all these items. And then I'll have to moderate the moderators. Business-wise I am not convinced that the investment in all that would be a sound one. That is why I'm still doing it alone. The costs are lower if I hire moderators based abroad, but they expect to earn more money. For example, I can hire a European moderator for an amount which is exorbitant when converted to naira. It's not even going to be a full time moderator. Let's say I decide to make the sacrifice and part with the money, will the moderator generate 700 euros in additional revenue? That is the big question. You are concerned about your enjoyment of the forum. I understand. But at the end of the day, someone has got to pay the bills. And that someone is is not convinced that getting moderators is a wise step at the moment. |

Seun, you have to pay moderators?? No one over here does! I'm on several Audi / Volkswagen forums here, and some of my friends are moderators. They don't get paid either!  |

You dont need to PAY anyone anything. You decide on those who seem sane, never get into trouble and always the peackmaker like debosky, akolawole, etc. They work from home on their own, you dont provide anything for them exceopt special access to certain forum functions but YES you have to oversee the moderators.

 i'm a Mod in an international forum, geeee i didn't know i'm supposed to get paid!  those cheats, lol! they ain't cheats, just kidding. mods are your friends who wonno help u man, it doesn't have to be official at all. in another forum where ma lil bro just became a junior mod, the junior and senior mods just help out in specific sections while the admins are the decision makers there. Seun, it always pisses me off when i see u talk about the fact that u havnt seen anyone capable of modding here, geeez there are enough guyz. Nairaland has gotten to the stage where it should have Admins and Mods. Honestly this is the first time i'm hearing of Mods at this level getting paid. Mods who should get paid are Mods on Forums like phpBB, SMF, Yahoo, Microsoft. those are mega money-making groups not Nairaland. And u were talking about providing computers and 24/7 internet access and power. Seun, u don't have to provide jack for the Mod. the mod should take care of how he'll be online by himself. P.S: See see, that one day ban you put on my id i don't understand o. next time tell me how far before u resort to banning.

I thought he said he ain't bring the forum back until he gets a moderator As you can see you don't have to pay people to moderate a forum, if your are thinking they won't do a good job because you are not paying, you supervise/advice or rotate them community ownership is the way to go  |

1. Why is there no action when I click on the 'report this user' link in the whole forum?
2. Why do you get punished for sumn when you're in the romance section and you go scot free when you do the same thing in sum other section?
3. Why can't some specialist section like the'Computers' and 'Rap Battle' section have a special moderator, nominated by fellow members there, cus it's obvious only sumone in the business can handle offences that don't apply everywhere. They don't have to necessarily possess the right to ban but they could report to you with their own opinions accepted.
4. Why can't we have a special child board under 'Education' like a Science section where you can drop information, help people that need help in sum areas, educate people on what you know and not have adverts for JAMB everywhere?

some of these moderators seem to be out looking for fights, unecessarily. They appear too thin skinned and unable to see things from an impartial viewpoint. Neither can they take a joke, in spite of their claiming the contrary. I posted in that section before he became a moderator, without any problems. Now its quite the opposite. Them get copyright for the site or what?
