I hear that work on the constructing of the 4th Mainland bridge has begun, is this true?  Undecided I hear JB is doing it and its going to be a suspension bridge with 12 lanes, 6 going each direction

You sure heard right, this was meant to commence like twenty years ago, but trust my pips. Chop and quench pips.

Mustay - point of correction, they can see at night. Major road works are done at night where I reside.

Where does blackchap reside?

The roads constructed by ccecc were never done at nite even when activity on the roads were minimal at nite.

What light do they want to put there?

Do u think the street lights are enough for what the need to repair

If the bridge needs to be repaired, it needs to be repaired. No two ways about it.

I wonder why some people are moaning, would they rather go down with the bridge ? Please try Carter or Eko bridge as what needs to be done has got to be done !!!

But why does a bridge of such size and importance need repairs of such magnitude after a meagre 18 years in service ? I hope they get it right this time around.

Most road maintenance in the UK and US are done at night.

Floodlights are employed, as bright as day.

In Nigeria, most repairs are done during daylight; when they are prone to less 'attacks' by the night marauders.

Sienna, you must be living in a wonderful part of the UK. In London, they dig up the roads just before bank holiday and do not return to work until after the bank holiday.

Sections of roads are closed when necessary for  long periods and people have to find alternative routes. Junction 25 of M25 was out of action for 72 weeks because of ventilation works at the tunnel. If you think no one was affected, ask those that live in Enfield and environs.

The point is that people must choose between falling into the lagoon with the bridge because of impatience or endure a little bit of hardship in order to have safe ride on the bridge. Afterall the bridge was made by man and man was surviving before the bridge.

Before the advent of beans, men were not eating rabbit poo.

Lagosians go kpai o! Kai! Peopl will start falling sick as a result of the stress. Cars will breakdown more often in the traffic with this rainy season due to several factors, many drivers will loose their jobs cos BRT will experience more patronage, etc, infact, it cannot be fully described until experienced first hand. Lagos is under fire,

For some of us, exloring IT and working from places of convenience might just be it!

Jnct 25 of the M25 was closed but there were excellent alternatives compared with what one can expect with closure of the 3rd Mainland bridge. And in any case there are alternatives to road transport. Unfortunate commuters to/fro Lagos Island will not have such luxury. The levels of inconvenience ain't comparable.

Is there someone on this form that can tell me who is doing the construction on the Third Mainland Bridge. I am writing a paper on this for school,  I would like to know if someone can please tell me. I have been told that there is a Company out of Florida that is doing it, is this correct?  I  have also been told that the workers will be done sometime around the frist part of October. Is that correct?

Thanks! Smiley
