anyone uses Starcomms Internet Packages in Ikeja.

Share your Experiences Here:

I have been trying to find out whats wrong with internet services @ the Ikeja area. .

My experience for some months now is not satisfactory, though i am not complaining. .  but my impatience is!

@least, Or worst i get connected to the 1x plattform instead of Evdo when service goes Off (Out of it)

Do u Imagine 1kbps on a Evdo Plan? hehehe , lol. .

Do, u get "username and password" rubbish?

I am made to believe from different sources that there is an upgrade going on for the Ikeja district. .but i avnt heard this from Starcomms. .in ther own words,

And who eva says there is a 252kbps connection, dudes please get things straight. .the notification u get from Windows that you are connected @ such speed is false. .  you can only get ur actual speed when u make a Download. .

Tell, me whats wrong with Starcomms @ Ikeja area!  Angry

Well, i use Starcomms but i can't say i have problem with re-activation.Whenever i pay at their office i get connected before i get home. The only problem i have is that it disconnects at will, even though not every time.

I think Starcomms are really trying their best to serve us better, but its like it really depend on the area and location regarding the paying, i think i will advice you to always pay at the bank, if you pay at the bank they do try to get you connected under 24 hrs, I am not really satisfied with the fastness but its still preferable i really do only pay at the banks and i do get connected under 24 hours.

Regarding the Customer care or how they treat customers, its all of the telecom companies, when they have subscribers all they always do is to give underated service most especially to their subscribers at the rural areas. I think i have been on starcomm for about 3 months not, i never call their customer service once, to talk of give them any kind of complain because they might not give me a good respond.

Thats all i can really say about starcomms, but regarding the man who said he always have over 70kbytes/sec. thats a lie, it has never happen under any network. okay maybe those website are getting you deceived like someone replied you. no in this Nigeria will you ever be able to get such a fast network. even usa self no reach that kind level. ah ah,  Grin Tongue

Frankly Starcomms service is extremely good. I use their EVDO here in Abuja. superfast. Whenever I am in Lagos (Apapa area), I still use it without complaint. I was in Lagos last thursday when my 3 months subscription expired and this morning (saturday), I returned to Abuja and renewed. It started working almost immediately. The customer service in their Abuja office is quite good but then I have noticed that almost all companies fill their Abuja customers service units with human beings compared to my experience in Lagos where they appear to be sub-animals.

@oyb,
i feel for u.i used 2 use starcomms but their service got so terrible that i had to look for an alternative service provider.starcomm is really really messed up.i can't remeber d last time i got network on my starcomms phone. i've gone to their toyin street office several times and all they tell me is that their is nothing wrong wt my phone.i paid for a month internet access and i did'nt have network for up to 10 days in the month.when i called their customer care to complain, the lady i spoke wt was so rude i felt like slapping her.obviously she did'nt have any training on customer service.they sent me a mail reminding me that my subscription was about to expire and i replied complaining about d terrible service they provided and nobody deemed it fit to offer any explanation talk less of an apology.i don't know au far they think they will continue in business wt this attitude.

I make use of the Sierra Wireless Card 580 (EVDO). I don't get same day activation and I also had a similar problem with my Aircard on first connection.

I had to insult their Engineer and promised to bring a Sea of Hoodlums if they didn't get it fixed. Friends can testify to this.

I had to browse at the cafes even when I paid for connection. They later got it fixed and I thank God all is over now.

Starcomms is Okay for me and the Aircard mobility is a good attribute. What they should improve on is the EVDO service and make sure its available in post parts of Lagos like Ojo, Igando, Ikotun, Agege and so on as they have more subscribers there. In all these mentioned areas, your aircard has to switch to 1x and then you get to browse real slow.
Multilinks table phone is better for connection though because u get to browse at a faster rate in most parts of Lagos.

Yeah house i make bold to say here that customer service in Nigeria is still poor. Sometimes when i get to visit offices to sort things i just feel like squeezing these customer care guys. recently i had gone to bellview airline to collect a parcel the dude i met there was so reluctant in doing anything that it took her like 15mins to attend to me. The worst experience i had was at MTN office Akowonjo,a guy there wanted to play a smart game on me.He so much sold himself to me that i have more than enough to nail.Ah! am so pissed that for once in my life i have started treating his mess up.

well well well,

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT STARCOMMS WAS SET UP TO RIP PEOPLE OFF,
I JUST PAID FOR AN INTERNET PLAN ON FRIDAY UP TILL NOW I HAVNT BEEN CONNECTED ,THEY don't
CONNECT YOU UNTILL YOUR MONEY HAS SPENT AT LEAST A WEEK WITH THEM.

SOME COMPANIES SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR THIS TYPE OF FRAUD , CUSTOMER CARE NON FUNCTIONAL,
I HAD TO EVEN SEND SOMEONE DOWN TO their SHOPRITE OFF TWICE TODAY , TO COMPLAIN , STILL NOT CONNECTED YET.

starcomms is really not as bad as some of you guys are potraying here. Ok they have issues, but how many companies in nigeria do not. the problem with us Nigerians is that we want perfection when others are involved, just take a minute to examine ourselves when it comes to service delivery at our own places of work.

anyway, the reason i believe starcomms take a little while to activate is that they have streamlined their activation to go strictly through their head office, am guessing they did this because of fraud, you know how we nigerians are. i use their evdo and i can give them like 50%, honestly that's alright in my book. try NEPA, NITEL, MTN etc for change!

we need to stay positive and try to alway profer constructive criticism, if you are telling someone what they are doing wrong, thell tem how you feel if could be done, they just might be listening.

this is what i aways do. i put on my charm and dial *121 every 30 minutes and try as much as posible to let the customer service feel my pain,

starcomms is the best out there. subcribe to their EVDO if you are within the coverage area, you won't regret. occasional hitches, but they still the best.
for customer care, the guys here in PH are not doing badly. i get connected same day i renew my subscription. 12QQ1

Starcomms is the worst nightmare that can happen to anyone. They hardly activate you on time after payment and their connetion is soooooo slow.

Infact snail fast pass am. To open common yahoo, you have to keep refreshing and refreshing not to now talk of loading files. You are available online on your messenger one minute, the next minute you are logged out. You can't have a good chat with a friend online. It's really sickening and embarassing.

To be sincere now, their customer care service has really improved over the phone ( I'm not sure about their offices because I haven't been there for a while now). But their network is still as whacky as ever. Huh Huh Huh

Even RelTel offers a better service. Grin Grin Grin

Guys why not try MTN Gprs service, thats what i use and you can subscribe fully or choose to be on Pay As You Go.Though its expensive but far better than starcoms' or any other that i know of. How it works.

You have to get a Gprs modem for about 18/20 k (depends on where you buy from)
Then get an Mtn/glo/celtel line take it to whichever network you prefer to use
then they'll activate it for you

I am on mtn and they charge 12k pay month

starcomms customer service

or

Starcomms network.

As far as i am concern they are the best if you doubt me. try Glo, MTN, Mtel,Multilinks  e.tc then you will appreciate startcomms.

Every thing about their service is bad. MTN is far better, that is what my boss uses. What makes them the best? They will soon prove themself to you

Call them and lodge your complain.

You are the one running at a loss.

We have called and gone to their office several times, what they keep saying is that we should go and format your system that is has virus or restart your system (which is a lie), they don't know anything. The most annoying thing is that you have to take the system to their office always, infact after this month, we are not using it again.

I am using Aircard 555 Watcher I can say it been go so far, I think they are the best in nigerian now., It raining so hard and the connection is super faster.

Please where can one get this and what are there time/cost rates?

are we still talking starcomms,  they owe me three months subscription not counting the time/money wasted going down to their awolowo road office.
Mr. Jide and his side-kick blue-wonder of IT support jerk me around each time i go there,  IT buff^on tells me my login details are correct but my subscription has expired,  Mr Jide tells me to either pay or write a letter to VI branch to get my money back but he assures me that it could take weeks to months,  so i opt to pay and Mr IT guy tells me it will be activated same day,  I ended up dropping it with reciepts and Mr Jide loosk at me in wonder,  i shall never deal with starcomms or any of their staff that i can remember here or in the next life.

They suck mega as#$
