Abeg tell am for me. You see the way Abacha shut them down sharp sharp during June 12? - whilst little Ogoni was making waves, they couldn't even say pim. The fact is that Yoruba man is always scared to lose a drop of blood, that is why they are always begging for peace, even under severe oppression. this is not so true. i remember when the ijaw and the opc clashed in lagos in 1999. the ijaws had to abandon their community and legged it. yoruba people when pushed are the most dangerous.

^^^The Ibos are already involved in the Niger-Delta conflict. They have expressed their support and we thank them for it. They are watching the situation with keen interest, ready to capitalise on any advantage it may bring them. I am sure that if it turns to qwatar, they will take advantage of the situation as will the Tivs and other oppressed groups. Since everybody in Naija is scared of the Fulani's especially Mr Yoruba, it is up to the Ijaw warrior to show y'all how it's done. Iseobio, take it easy. We know all this. The Ibos were the first to surrender their land during the war and the ethnic minorities of South-South kept the war going - but let bygones be bygones. Ibime, I hope say you know say Adedibu's almajiri no get job now the man don pass. Na dem we go send come carry you for that place wey una dey use oil drink garri. Watch ya mouth.

ask your clansmen in apapa area of lagos I don't need to ask them because i know that the whole Niger delata people combined together is still no match to even half of the yorubas. Tell me what the Niger Deltans has contributed to Nigeria in the first place apart from fishing? Nonsense. I hope you guys join the hausa/fulani and enjoy yourselves and leave the yoruba alone. The yorubas are not the cause of your poverty and lack of education. If not for the "cowardly" Yorubas, the ibos would've dominated you, taken over your lands and turn you to their servants. so, you owe the Yoruba people here an apology and a big thank you for protecting y'all all these while.(Benin people included).

AfroCynic,
One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist. Ojukwu is not your messiah and I agreed, but he is for us. If you know what that title of "Ikemba" given to him by his people means, you will eat your words. Ojukwu is no Abacha, he didn't steal from us, rather he gave us his inheritance and sacrificed 13 years of his life in exile for us. So stop crying more than the beareved.
I have told you that when it comes to politics that Emeka Ojukwu is not the most skillful and I have also told you he made so many mistakes but we as his brothers and sisters understood the reasons and that is why the more you seek for his humiliation from us, the more we laugh at you because it will never happen.
Ojukwu is one of the few, if any of Nigeria leaders today that will beat his chest and say I am not corrupt or has he ever embezzled a penny belonging to anybody, if that is not what a leader is made of, then tell me what?s And those that kept saying he ran away are doing so out of frustration of not been able to catch him and humilate him, just like they did to Saro Wiwa. That is what all the silly jibe of running away is about.
A living dog is greater than a dead lion because he lives to fight another day. Walter Sisulu, Oliver Thambo. Govan Mbeki, all top ANC leaders ran away too for many years to Zambia and many other places when Mandela was locked up, helping keep the spirit of their people alive while their leader was in prison. Those men are near to sainthood today in South African's history. And their people are not saying that they ran away while the white idiots were killing them. And one of them, Govan Mbeki, today has his son as the president of South Africa. A living Ikemba is far better than a dead one. No dead person can be called an "Ikemba".
Someone has asked me if I was there? Yes I was there in the thick of it and I was only 18. I was in Ogoja sector when the article of surrender was signed and with three of my friends we walked home from Ogoja to Orlu in Imo state for almost a week dodging Nigerian excited trigger happy soldiers still executing returning soldiers all over Biafra well after the so-called end of hostilities. And I am not the only one from my family too that went. My father and my four brothers went too. My father came back and my two brother didn't return, another had his leg amputated but today, he is a successful attoney in Ireland despite his handicap. We returned to find out that 17 members of our immediate family were murdered during a 24 hours air raid around Orlu and Owerri, including my grand parents killed at a packed crowded "Eke" market. So my idea of the war was different from yours because it's either you were unborn then or relied solely on radio Nigeria broadcasting from Ikoyi.

you are just being shortsighted. The Yoruba may appear to be educated because of their number compared to the Ijaws. However, I want to tell you that most Yorubas cant even speak English. i went to Ikire in Osun state and found it hard speaking with most people because they couldn't understand a word of English even the bus loaders. it was very frustrating to me becuase that was last year. I thought I was in another Nothern part of Nigeria. I have been to differetn parts of Yoruba land and same applies. I even met a girl in Ojuelegba selling pure water and she could not even understand English when I asked her what the time is. She just mumbled some Yoruba. It was a man standing by that helped me out. She could not even speak pidgin. On the contrary if you go to bayelsa, river and delta states even if they do not spoeak good English they can speak pidgin whihc helps you to get by. I think you have ro reevaluate this Yoruba high level of litearacy and stop decieving yourselves.

Cool down . . . if you check it well, we are the second most highly educated group in Nigeria per capita (some would say we are no 1). Obviously we don't have critical mass in the public sphere because we have less population and also because of political meanderings but 90% of my extended family are graduates or heading that way. My popsie told me that he once had a scholarship to one school in Lagos and that he and his Niger-delta cohorts were top of the class. From there, they got scholarship to come to UK, hence I am here now. Off the top of my head I can name Prof Tam David West, Graham-Douglas, Elechi Amadi, Enoch George (who helped design the famous spaghetti junction in Birmingham) etc. Please do your own google search, you cannot be handing me your dirty work. That is not my field. BTW, white man = education. If na lie, go and ask the Fulanis why they are not educated. Jaja was educated within the Ijaw system not the Arochukwu system. BTW, my great great grandfather is Ibo and my great grandmother is from Asa in Abia state so they are part of us like we are part of them, it doesn't matter.

It is because they don't like to speak English at home, only Yoruba. . . even in London here, do you know how many Yoruba cleaners I have met that cannot speak English . . . .EVEN IN LONDON. . . . haba. . . . infact, we have to re-evaluate this their reputation as being highly learned sef . . . unless there are Nigerian universities out there that are teaching Science, Mathematics and Law degrees in Yoruba language . . . . one thing you have to respect them sha, them dey travel well well so they know what is happening abroad.

@Eziachi and Romeo
Do you consider Ojukwu as a hero? I am very upset with Ojukwu because i felt he should have done his homework better and since I believe he was smarter than Gowon and most of the other soldiers in the NA should have won the war. He took too many things for granted and should have surrendered earlier to stop the starvation.
His reason for starting the war is valid but i don't think he planned it properly and he too should take the blame for some of the casualties. I watched a BBC report on youtube and felt very bad at his war plans ( 2 soldiers sharing a gun?) it was a sorry story. The starvation was inevitable.
As for Awolowo, I hope he is burning in the hottest part of hell for his policies after the war.

If you are intelligent but cannot communicate then it is useless. Can you go and work as a secretary in a french speaking country if you dont speak french despite the fact that you are a trained or intelligent secretary? language is a vehicle to express your intelligence. A lot of of our Nigerian folks are intelligent even the fulanis but we do not percieve they are because they cannot communicate in the langauge we understand. So their intelligence rots with them. All the tribes in Nigeria have intelligent people but they must be able to communicate it to others.
