Adaure Achumba And Her Accent
« on: July 21, 2008, 02:53 PM »

What do yu guys think about adaure achumba's accent. She grew up in Nigeria. Had her primary and secondary school education in Nigeria and shes been in Nigeria for years yet she presents with an american accent. To me its kind of annoying.I fel she should be herself and be more natural

Yeah the one on http://according2adaure(dot)blogspot(dot)com/ She is a presenter and a newscaster on STV

I'm an aspiring news reporter, CNN international correspondent I mean. I am working earnestly towards that goal and you can say this is a precursor, a blue-print for my future news talk show on CNN when all things are aligned perfectly by the Creator. Don't get me wrong, it's a prayer that I'm claiming and by the grace of God i'll be living it some day. Just incase you missed it, i am also of the 'Nigerian Persuasion' so be prepared because when we take over the world, you'll be one too.

As long as she speaks well, what's it with the accent?

well she went to University in the US for four years, maybe thats the reason behind her accent. Went to school with her, think she's pretty down to earth. Some people pick up accents quicker than others I guess.

She yarns a -whole lotta bull in that accent, most times tries really hard to explain what she just said.

I was just bout to write dis also, i also went to the same school and was in the same class with her. To be honest i think she's one of the nicest and most down to earth female i've met, she got on with everyone.
About the accent - I saw her last yr in naija and with the way she spoke i think her accent was ok.
She does not force herself to speak in an american accent so i guess its not that bad.

I also went to the same secondary schl with Adaure.we were not in the same set n I neva got close enough to hear her speak back then but I doubt she had any trace of 'fone' back then. My comment when I 1st heard her on tv was 'why dis 1 dey talk like se she get sheet 4 mouth'--It was later my elder bro told me that she was Adaure Achumba--Whether good or bad her accent irritates d hell out of me.
Truth be told---d babe no be channels tv material talkless of CNN.
