Starcomms Izap - Is It Really Fast As Starcomms Claim?

i think MTN shouldn't even come in at all if what you need is broadband for downloads, following the picture posted by hayprof, he downloaded 2.7GB in 9hrs, if it were MTN, "he would av been finished"

Starcomms is still better than most internet service providers we have, from personal experience, I think Visafone deserves to be in the zoo, i wasted 22k to those guys and it is very painful.

from personal experiences with these ISPs
normal starcomms rate is 35kB/s
normal DOPC rate is 25 kB/s
normal visafone rate is 7 kB/s - thats why they should be in the zoo, or freezer, or dustbin or pantry or anywhere alike

Either way I am quite happy. I have a service that is avaialble 'every where I go' and I am not a high volume user like you guys here (where would I keep 40GB of downloads to start with?? And that, every month??)

Sierra Wireless has a vista compatible AirCard 580 watcher application on their site. thought i gave u the link months back. or e no work for u? tht's what i'm using on vista though.

who will save us from dis pple hands o! Ive used multilinks, starcomms now am on visafone this their EVDO (EVen Though we promised high speed DOnt bet on it) is fraud. If I had money i would invest in real broadband. The market is crying to be served. What a country!

most the posts here correct about starcomms, but lets look at it from the other side,


1: if starcomms is the worst ISP, what will u say about the likes of multilinks, visafone, onet etc?

2: if you did not get great attention at the toyin street ikeja office ( due to much crowd ), have you tried their other offices ie hostel b/stop ikotun?

3: EVDO was rebranded as IZAP,  correct, but there is no Izap coverage in all the cities they are now.

4: if you are not getting the broadband speed as advertised, and even if you post your screen shot, how do nairalanders comfirm that you are actually posting them within the broaband coverage area?

5: Starcomms Do not have broadband coverage all over lagos per-say, but they have the broadband and 1X coverage maps pasted in most of their offices, isnt it our responsibilities to verify our individual locations correctly before buying their data terminals? afteral we are the ones parting with our hard earned money,

6: do we lso realise that " another isp ( aside starcomms ) is using same sierra wireless 580 terminal ( as EVDO ). " so how do nairalanders differentiate which ISPs' AIr card watcher snapshot is bein posted, since the sierra wireless cards are show exactly same wathcer when in use?

7: its quite unfortunate and fustrating when we are not getting the best from Starcomms as an ISP, but in the naija of today, do we have a better alternative? i have lots of friends that has roamed round all the ISPs, and at the end concluded that starcomms happens to be the most reliable.

8: here we have people saying lots of trash ( even lying ) about starcomms on this thread while same people recommend/prefer starcomms to multilinks, visafone etc.

i am using starcomms IZAP and its working well for me and lots of my friends.

the question that needs and anwer is, Is It Really Fast As Starcomms Claim?

my candid answer to this quetion is, YES if you are withing IZAP coverage area.

NB: If its not fast go back to their office so they can check it up.



There is no EVDO/IZAP coverage in Ibadan, all you have there is 1x ie dialup, for more enquries call

*121---for Data complaints,  though you may need to be very patient to reach them

is this problem peculiar to you, or d you know any one having same problem in same location?  whats your izap card no and the ESN HEX no?,  i ll need to make some enquiries.
