I just subscribed to the Izap service, the USB250hrs package. This is supposed to have a 250hrs usage time and validity of three months. There are two important things I want you guys to help me with:

How do I check my actual usage. I was expecting that I would have an account on Starcomms' website that I can log on to and check (I can check my usage on my Mynetcom account this way).

Secondly, I use Linux a lot. I have tried using the mobile_number@starcomms.com as username, mobile_number as password and #777 as dialup number without success. when I try to connect from a terminal, I get an indication of a failure during authentification.

Has anyone been able to get the Novatel Ovation MC727 USB modem to connect with Linux? Please let me know how you do it.

hayprof, i had this problem last month and glory be to God, i have this other starcomms land line so i call them up every 30 minutes until they connected me to the right network

maybe they try to play tricks on users who care only about checking mails, but ppls who are into downloads should not accept that. u've got brains man

Do u mean they av been dulling u on 1x all this while since u Subscribed, Or wat was your terrible experience b4 u got it solved. .

I hope i culd get mine solved via the CustomerCare line, even if i call them up every Min. .all dey do is ask for my Evdo number. .and in turn tell me there's nothing wrong wit It. . which on my path got Issues'

For Months I called CuCare to tell me If there's is Network issue in the Ikeja area, but they insisted NO!

So, does this mean I am the Only one suffering?

That's the Question starcomms is yet to Answer ME!  Angry

Dnt leave starcomms plz, i really luv tht part of d night wen we compare speeds (wen u get 3g coverage at mushin) hehe.

Erm, one more thing hayprof. For a worst case scenario, connect an outdoor antenna to your sierra card. Never done tht b4, never seen it done, but tht card has a provision 4 an antenna. Actually i once placed a metal object inside tht antenna port, and erm. . . all my evdo signals loss, d modem hang, air card watcher freeze, PPP link malfunction, Hehehe. So try using d right antenna, it just could do d trick.

Starcomms should either quit internet services Or Upgrade!
« #79 on: September 03, 2008, 12:30 AM »

Dudes, i still cant figure out the difgerence between starcomms Izap and multilinks Dial up.This is ridiculous, they brag so much about their so called IZAP,EVDO  and all they deliver is 115.2kbps, its absurde guys. Regardless of the fact that their EVDO covers the least places in town they have the worse customer service. Its either they quite the service and leave it to the guys who can handle it well or they upgrade to , say 3ookbps and upwards and not this snail like service they are offering,
