Legal Ground For The Existence Of Biafra
« on: June 19, 2006, 01:03 AM »

If you look at the maps of Biafra, you will notice that it contains only territory that is part of the Eastern Province in Nigeria. Now, the actions of the non-democratically elected General Yokubu Gowon to create 12 States out of the 3 Provinces in Nigeria are illegal by international standards. Only a Government that is representing the people can make such decisions. Gowon was not democratically elected, and whatever means that the Nigerian Parliament used to invite him to power, was illegal. Therefore, the actions of the Eastern Province to secede from Nigeria was perfectly justified. And it is only fair that the Government of Nigeria undo past wrongs by handing over the States of Bayelsa, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Akwa-Ibom, and Cross Rivers to a democratically elected Government that will represent the nation of Biafra.

Also understand that the will of a major Ethnic group, coupled with allies from Ethnic Minorities to create their own nation should not be taken likely. The Igbos number in the 10s of millions, and add their allies to that, and Biafra will have a population of about 30+ million people. That number is not to be taken likely. Here is a map that shows the ancestral home of the Igbos and the South-South and people that allied with them for the creation of Biafra.

When and how was the consent of your not important minorities sought, how many Reps from the Minorities were there when Biafra was declared.
What makes you think that the minorities, ijaws, efiks, ibibios, urobos, ishekeri, want to join another big brother tribe experiment?
Who wants to out number again?Everybody in the Niger Delta want to return to their local Cheifdoms and Kingdoms before the arrival of your friends the BRITISH!

There is a need for a referendum in Nigeria, every civilized nation does that, look at Serbia and Montenegro, Montenegrin are not even up to a million, If we continue to force our selves to stay together we can't make it.

NIGERIA can't SURVIVE, TIME WILL PROVE THIS RIGHT.

NINETOFIVE,

You are right, before any break up takes place all issues have to be brought to the table. All grievances real and imagined must be addressed.Everyone will know exactly the deal they are getting.
No need replacing one Evil i.e Nigeria with another one

Thanx girl Wink
