The poster said he teaches at a Private school. No one asked the ages of the student there. Should I assume that All private schools in Nigeria are for toddlers  and/or children under the age of consent ONLY?

Average graduating age of Nigerian private schools is 16-17
If we agree that he's been in love with her for sometime, then the estimate is 15 year old

Besides it's grossly unprofessional to have relationships with your clients/customers' children

Best advice for you is to leave the school before you'll be forced to leave the school for a sexual offense.

@post
Oka i live in the states and there are teachers who are being sent to jail for years because of what you are involving yourself in. it aint worth it. Just last week a teacher in Texas was sentenced ten years for having relations with one of her students. Do you see yourself being locked up in cell for a decade??

While I do agree with the highlighted portion of your post, the reality is it happens.  I am in no way condoning such behaviour and would NEVER practise such demeaning act.

I have known of student-teacher relationships especially in Tertiary, some of which are Private, thus my asking,  Tongue, But thanks for the clarification, Now yo can ga lang Angry Tongue

What are you people talking about?
Whats wrong in falling in love with your student?
By the way, who says he/she is your student?
Do you own him/her?
Definition or a student is not the same as the definition of a male or a female.
student is a status, just like the teacher.
Someone can become a teacher at 25 and some one can also be a student at 25.
There is no law against that, so you wont be committing any offence.
If he/she falls in the age range you want, make things open.
It all depends on the student anyway but i see nothing wrong in that.
It happens all the time here in Europe.

Apply wisdom
If he was 25 and dating a 25 year old, he won't be coming to plead on nairaland
And if it were a university, he'll have clearly stated it, even that is still unprofessional

Private schools in Nigeria refer to privately owned secondary schools
It's not rocket science

hey, did you hear me say it depends on the age range?
what if my daughter is 25 and still a student
and the teacher is 26 and a teacher, what would you have me do?
just because he is a teacher makes him bad huh?
yes, and yes again, i would allow my daugter under such circumstances.
besides is it actually my decission who my daughter marries?

25 dating a 25 , does it stop them from being a teacher and a student?
are there no private universities in Nigeria?
and besides, why would i start assuming that its a secondary school?
he said private school, period?
i am not applying any wisdom, i am answering the question exactly as he tabled it.

Now I'm really getting scared of you ooh

Yes there are, but they're not refered to as private schools
And I'm yet to see a 25 year old university professor in Nigeria, please let's be reasonable here

That's why this is not an exam, it's a man coming here to ask for advice
If you can't apply wisdom, then it's obvious you're incapable of helping him

In your own intelligent school of thought
This man is a 25 year-old, Masters (Arts) degree holder, with at least 3 years experience; coming to nairaland to ask for advice because he's going out with another 25 year-old.
Hmmn . . . I'm learning from you, continue.

@eldee, there is no need pointing fingers here.
this guy did not mention his age here.
i was only giving you examples and you are acting upon the examples.
besides does being 25 stop you from seeking for advice on nairaland?
and why do you base your argument on assumptions instead of facts?

ok, lets cut it down to secondary school since you have concluded thats where the act is happening.
a lot of 20 year olds are still in secondary school in Nigeria,
people who didnt start school on time like maids and so on.
some girls are repeating classes which could happen at 20.
then this teacher is 24 or 25 which is practically possible.
now whats wrong in a 24 year old guy dating a 20 year old girl?
or is student-teacher thing an abomination?

Lmao!

I love how you guys are going on the assumption that the student in question is smart.

Suppose she's one of those By force Promotion after 3 tries student and she's repeated one or two classes at least twice. . . and please don't tell me it's not possible. I was 12 in JSS2 with a 15yrs old. Goodness, this girl towered over all of us, it wasn't even funny. Anyway, back to the topic. . . So while the average student finishes secondary school at 16, our lolita could very well be 18/19, which isn't that bad.

Okay, that was my attempt to make OP look less like a Pedophile and more like a good guy who won't let intelligence. . . Or lack there of, come in the way of true love.

* Long Dreamy Sigh*

Romantic, no?

And if it doesn't hold water. . . Then I blame it all on the green apples I've been forced to eat. Gah!
