Exercise And Life Expectancy

It is like a tradition that most Nigerians don't get involve in doing exercise,and as such most likely prone to a decreased life expectancy. I think Exercise Can Increase Life Expectancy to a great extent.
If your are science oriented,I want you to talk on this issue with scientific reasons.

In my opinion, i think nigerians are already involved in excess vigorous activities which is almost similar to cardio workouts. They don't need to work out in the gyms, etc. After running to jump on the molue/danfo bus, they don't need a threadmill.

The amount of fat you carry in nigeria is actually to determine how wealthy or well fed you are. (or so i want to believe) Also the hectic lifestyle of nigerians keep many in shape e.g  the girls who have to hawk things on the street.
Causing them to ignore the idea that exercise is necessary when they do it on a daily basis. Nigerian have not learn't the importance of excercise (that includes me) because many are of slim weight who consider excercise to be for people of a larger size.

The point is many nigerian's have not yet died from obesity and so many are not aware of the problems

Thing is, all the 'exercise' that Nigerians do (running and jumping for a Molue bus) is because they have to do it, not because they see the health benefits.

I bet you - if Nigeria was a wealthy country where everybody had a car they could drive and lots more food to eat, you'd find many more overweight people.

All the rich people in Nigeria are already overweight!  All the politicians except Gowon and maybe Donald Duke!  Cheesy

I don't think jumping into the moloe bus is an excuse not to get involved in exercise.If we consider that to be enough,how come it was said recently that the life expectancy of the average Nigeria has dropped to somewhere around forty something.I would check to give you the precise figure.
We know there are other factors,but the positive influence of exercise I think can not be overemphasized.
Besides been just overweight,there are other cardiovascular complications that go with it.

I beg to differ. They are targeted exercises for for different results. If anythng, cardio workout requires a lot more than jumping on "molue". As a Doctor, A study I once reviewed speaks about taking 10,000 steps a day, drinking at least 4 litres of water a day, and "regulating your diet" (i.e. Complementing your meals with lots of fruits and Veg) to achieve near perfect results. Jumping on "molue" will move you closer to your Grave.

A lot of Nigerians do die from obesity, heart attacks, high levels of dangerous cholesterol and other complications resulting from Bad eating habits and lack of exercise. The culture of inadequate data collection by the hospitals and other organisations, and also the incompetence of the National Office of Statistics is the reason you don't know.

@mrlawng, you may be a medical doctor. but for real, i'm a fitness expert. Many nigerians have superior ratings in cardiorespiratory endurance. the average nigerian takes more than 10,000 steps. Just using the stairs is a very good one. HOw many buildings have elevators or escalators? Instead, what most nigerians need is to improve their diet.

Eastcoast Where did you get that info from that many Nigerians have superior rating in cardiovascular/respiratory endurance?please share with us so we would be better informed.I think that assumption is an erroneous one probably as a result of fallacy of hasty generalization.Do more research on a  very wide scale,then I would be convinced provided you provide your source of info.You talked of modification of diet.that is true but again that alone will not do the job,besides how many people in Niger do you think could afford the expenses
Can you tell me why you think they should modify their diet,I mean what are the biochemical/medical modifications you think that would do that exercise can't influence.

Eastcoast please provide references for us to use,you're not talking with kids.Give factual materials and refs. then you'll get me convinced.The answer to your question is that it takes allot more than diving into moloe buses and dietary modification to improve your cardiovascular endurance or do you want to tell me vegetarians with no exercise are best fit?I don't think so.Good exercise,I insist is a major requirement to be physically fit.

Are you sure you a medical doctor or doctor of shoes? i really wonder how you went through' medical school with the way you process information. All it takes to improve your health is living a healthy lifestlye. Daily vigorous activity could go a very long way. Nigerians don't need more exercise. They need healthy diets.
