I mean I understand that you are standing up for your beliefs but, in the process you have managed to scare people away from the concept and once again, we are all labelled *people who are sure to have miserable sex lives for the rest of our lives*.
I have this same problem with people who wish to evangelise. I agree it's good to spread the word, but think about your approach, you don't need to fire off at every single topic in which somebody says 'I want to have sex before marriage' or expresses this. If it's advice, think about advice that would be helpful and most likely going to lead them to think, wow this quickygal character I want to know more about her, then you can tell them more about your beliefs.
I also believe that yes, this guy should wait until marriage, but that is not what he is asking. You have every right to state your opinion, but I am sure the aim is to get people to agree not to fire them off. If I was a non believer of the concept, I would be turned off, much like the people who responded to your post have also fired their opinions in a dominating manner at you.
Do you see where I'm coming from. Keep the faith, but think about not just expressing your views, but work on getting people to listen to them. Shouting people down is what the world does to we 'who wish to wait', why would we want to use that same tactic to 'reach others'.
Please, this is just my opinion. I am pleeing with you, because sometimes, a bad encounter with an evangelis'er' can push people even further down that road you don't want them to.
Also people are more likely to listen if you reply addressing the specific issue at hand, and not just the generic, "because the unity of one flesh, or God created sex for us to."

You want to know how to have intercourse with a virgin? Well, I would see no reason why it would be any different from having sex with a non-virgin, you just have to understand that it being a new concept, you will have to almost 'explain what is to happen' by taking it slower.
If you have thought this through long and hard (excuse the pun) beforehand, then I'm pretty sure you're not going to listen to me, but if this is a spur of the moment thing, then maybe you should take time out to think. Everyone thinks having sex with a virgin is an experience not to be missed, but isn't it more important to have sex with someone you love. If you love this girl then you should really be willing to spend the rest of your life with her, which is why I am often confused why people claim to love one another, yet, they do not really want to confirm that, it is as if they know deep down inside that the love isn't completely there or genuine. I know if I found someone I loved, (putting sex completely aside) I would want to marry them, and then the sex can be added as a wonderful, amazing, exciting and desirable bonus to add sparks to the relationship. Am I too old fashioned? I just think that before having sex with the virgin you should truly truly love her if anything, and if you truly love her, why aren't you willing to marry her beforehand? If it is because you believe you are too young for marriage then you know all you are doing in the meantime is just increasing your no. of sexual partners count, which is veyr unattractive in the long run, and can put off many serious women. It is obvious where I stand in this, I don't know you well enough to tell you to wait for marriage, if you don't believe you don't believe, but in at least attempting to wait, a lot of problems and heartbreak can be reduced. Attempting rather than throwing all caution to the wind and having sex for the mere pleasure of it that is.

Maybe we should just agree to disagree.
But I'll just make one point; the goal of spreading the word is to get people to listen, these days we can't use the old 'hear ye', hear ye' method, people are not hearing about Christ for the first time, they are already hardened and synical, I'm not telling you to change the word. But I know if approaching the issue more sensitively is going to get more people to listen than shouting it at them, that is the route I will take. If you don't get it to the people in a medium they can embrace or understand, what happens is they can easily close off the subject, and that can make them even harder. I think we should be wiser in the way we get the word across, as sympathetic people, and not preachers, think about it from a non-christian's point of view, 'you are imposing your opinion on me' - they won't listen anymore after they feel this.
Anyways, just my thoughts on the subject. That's all. Still wish you the best, as we are NOT competing. |
