Talents And Skills: What Are You Really Good At Doing?

Hello there,

We have talked about the things we really love to do.  Can we know talk about the things we're really good at doing?  I've noticed that sometimes, one may love to do something but not have the talent or skills to make a career out of it.  Let's talk about those talents and skills here.  I'll start with mine.

Mathematics
I've always been above average in Maths.  I think I have an aptitude for maths, but it doesn't fully explain my academic performance when younger.  The thing is that I'm really persistent when trying to solve technical problems.  There was a time my sibling brought a maths assignment home, and when I finally came up with the solution, simply said, "I told my friends not to worry because you'll find the answer".  I was so proud.

My ability to apply academic knowledge in mathematics to programming made it seem as if I was built for a career in commercial software development.  I remember spending weeks deriving equations to use in a simplified 3d racing game, a smooth curve plotter for graphing, and a 3d rendering engine for scenes built out of basic geometric shapes intersecting each other (spheres, planes, and cylinders).  That persistence.

Computing
I was fortunate to learn BASIC at the age of nine during a 2 week holiday course, and I immeidately developed a lot of interest.  Unfortunately I couldn't develop that knowledge to satisfactory extent due to limited sponsorship - I only got to learn C++ and other languages after graduating from secondary school.  I wanted to be a programmer but I couldn't practice this dream until I left OAU-Ife early, which is when I discovered how little I love commercial programming (now I'm a webmaster).  Due to my sheer experience with computers, I type really fast and it helps!

good at my computer
good at drawing an image of you

While some people can sing and others can dance, I'm very very good at making money,  its a natural skill that I have been blessed with. I noticed it from a young age because I was that kid at school who always could make money from most situations, from selling printer paper to taking bets at school, I did it all.

And now in my mid twenties, I have been much more successful than my peers, so when people ask me what I'm good it? well its clear to see,  making money or should I say good at doing business. [before your minds wander off anywhere, its not funny business!]
