I've valued the wealth of information here and I'm proud of delaers like Inspired, Viperman, Jenju, and others. Given my law enforcement background, I was compelled to regster because I've identified a fraud. The Passat up there was reported as sold, and Inspired told us that he received 690,000 Naira from one of us as a deposit. The Fraud The same car with the same VIN number is listed as of todayas being available for sale by a car dealer in the USA. I spoke with the sales person. His name Roger Cresswell, and his phone number is (703) 915-1709. Inspired must refund the money to the nairalander from Ikorodu who paid the deposit and prove to the rest of us that he had done it. It is one thing to tell a buyer that you are in the process of acquiring a car for him, but when you announce to us that the car in question is sold, then you or your associates better be in possession of the car or it will appear as the fraud that it is. Inspired, I expected you not to be this sloppy in your business activities. How can you collect money for a car and announce that it has been sold, when the car is still up for sale and may no longer be available when you go and try to buy it? The nairalander from Ikorodu believes that he is buying the car you posted. Please keep up your good work and don't destroy you integrity with sloppy work. |

I went round Western Avenue (car sales part) with him to inspect cars and he seems to have a lot of respect even within the car dealers there.
In any case, inspired, you ave to be careful oo and please respond so that we will 'see it from your side too'

I agree with you that we must not rush to judgement without hearing from Inspired. I actually belieev that his USA contacts have deceived him, I don't think Inspired himself set out to defraud anyone. It is safe to assume that Inspired believed that his contacts had acquired the car before he announced that it is sold. Either way, the buyer was deceived because he paid the deposit for the car posted here. As I wrote earlier, my background is in law enforcement and I'm in contact with the owners of the car. We shall find out soon enough if our friend from Ikorodu was defrauded. I'd recommend that Inspired should return his deposit if the car is not purchased by his contacts in the USA with immediate effect. |

I happen to live in the area where the car is put up for sale. The car is at the lot! My goal is to protect fellow forumites including Inspired himself, from fraud. Someone may have told Inspired that they've bought the car for him while the car is still available for sale. Inspired should not be this sloppy. |

The Car generating controversy has been sold.
The Deposit of 690,000 has bein paid even before i created this post and that car just served as a starting point, A close perusal at the time the car was posted and when marked sold was less than 24hrs
The Deal was concluded over the Weekend when Banks dont open in Nigeria, Upon the receipt of the Depositors Cheque, the Car was marked sold here, and my US agent was informed
A deposit of $1000 was placed on Monday 11th August by my agent in US for the car pending the Balance on Friday 15th August 2008
Cash was transferred to my Agent through Zenith Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Branch, Lagos State Nigeria.
Once the Transfer reflects and is Cashed in the States, the balance would be paid to the seller.
The onus lies on the seller in US to delist the car from public adverts.
Theres No fraud No where, We've bn in the Business for quite sometime and we know our Onions.
I would personally Post the car Pictures when it gets to Nigeria.

Inspired, Thanks a lot for the clarification. You said a deposit was paid by your agent in the USA but the owners of the car did not remove the car from the market as is required by law in the USA. In fact, I was told that no one had paid any money or deposit on that particular car. The salesman was ready to sell the car to me on Tuesday, 1 day after you claim that $1000 deposit was paid! Bros, make sure that you yourself are not being defrauded. I will personally go to the car lot by the end of this week to see if the car is still up for sale. If it is still listed for sale, then we will be left with only one conclusion. |

Inspired, This your 45days thing, are you VERY VERY sure of the 45days? Remember people pay not just for the vehicle but the service and timing. I understand the Eastern Ports are backlogged; It was on this same forum Midas announced that he'd can get any pre-ordered vehicle to Lagos within 6-8weeks of full payment. When full payments were made, it became "story story, come today, come tomorrow". Also, that vehicle listed on the link Akuya posted is listed for about $15k. Assuming you get it for $13k or there abouts plus shipping $1400, that puts you up at about $14400 (which is N1.728mil @ N120=$1). Clearing at N250k takes it up to N1.978mil and your pre-order price is N2.050. I find it hard to believe that you and your chaps would go through all this hussle for just about $600 (which is way less than 10% commission). Lastly, just to point out, I'm not trying to insinuate anything. . .I'm just testing my sanity level. |
