'God's Story' 20 July, 2009
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand." (1 Corinthians 15:1)
The word "gospel" comes from the Anglo-Saxon "god-spel," meaning The Greek word is euaggelion, from which we get our word "evangel," and it means literally "a good message" or "good messenger." The prefix eu or ev means "good," and aggelion means "messenger." Thus, the gospel is the great story of God that is to be preached as by an angel dispatched from God. The word normally is used in the sense of "good news" or "glad tidings," but this good message is specifically God’s story, sent to lost men from a loving, caring, and saving God.
As our text says, it is a message to be "declared" by its messenger, then "received" (literally "once and for all") by its hearers. It is the message "by which also ye are saved" (v. 2) and "wherein ye stand." Then, verses 3 and 4 declare the very heart of that which is to be received and believed--the substitutionary death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is a dynamic gospel--"the power of God unto salvation" (Romans 1:16) for every true believer.
It is a "glorious gospel" (2 Corinthians 4:4) through which Christ "hath brought life and immortality to light" (2 Timothy 1:10). It is the "gospel of peace" (Ephesians 6:15) and brings "the fullness of the blessing" (Romans 15:29).
Its duration is "everlasting" (Revelation 14:6) and its foundation is the primeval making of "heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters" (Revelation 14:7) by Christ Himself (Colossians 1:16). The apostle Paul gravely warns against "any other gospel" than this gospel, which he had preached (Galatians 1:8-9). This gospel, this glad story of God’s grace in creation and salvation, is to be preached "to every creature" (Mark 16:15). HMM

Peace Makers 21 July, 2009
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." (Matthew 5:9)
In this seventh (out of nine) of the Beatitudes with which Christ began His Sermon on the Mount occurs the first mention in the New Testament of the important word "peace."
But how can one be a peacemaker? Note that Christ did not say: "Blessed are the pacifists." There are many today who talk about peace, but how does one make peace?
The answer lies in the example of Christ Himself. He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and He "made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself" (Colossians 1:20).
The real problem is that there can be no lasting peace between man and man, as long as there is enmity between man and God. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1). "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:18).
With that problem settled, we are now in a position to become true peacemakers, for we also can lead others to God through Jesus Christ. He "hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we . . . pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God" (2 Corinthians 5:18-20).
As ambassadors for Christ, we are true ambassadors for peace. The best possible contribution we can make toward world peace, racial peace, industrial peace, family peace, or personal peace is to help people become reconciled to God through faith in the peace-making work of Christ on the cross. "These things I have spoken unto you," says the Lord Jesus, "that in me ye might have peace" (John 16:33). HMM

For Me to Live is Christ 22 July, 2009
"For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)
There are many motivating reasons for serving the Lord. One, of course, is His many merciful blessings on our behalf. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:1).
Then there is the incentive of rewards: "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be" (Revelation 22:12). There are also many rewards even in this present life for dedicated Christian service: "Godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come" (1 Timothy 4:8).
The great need of the lost is also a tremendous motivation for Christian service. This was the burden of Paul: "For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more" (1 Corinthians 9:19).
But surely the greatest of all motives is the constraining love of Christ. Not our love for Him, which is poor and weak at best, but His love for us. This is the constraining compulsion which makes us live and love and witness for Him. Because He loved us so much, therefore we no longer live for ourselves, but unto Him, who died for us.
As our text notes, if Christ died for all, that can only mean that "all were dead," or more literally, "all died." Therefore, if we live, it is because we have been "bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:20), the terrible price of the never-equaled suffering and the uniquely cruel death of the sinless Son of man. "For to me to live is Christ" (Philippians 1:21). HMM

Just call out to Me those things of which you desire to be free and I will cause the fresh wind of My Spirit to blow free and clear within your heart. You will discover with a glad heart that I am a God of My word. Yes, you say, I know that is what Your word says, but it seems that I am always coming to you with the same old burdens, the same old misdeeds, asking you to forgive and set Me free. You are forgiven, beloved, and you are free. I never sigh in exexasperationhen you come to Me. I don’t care how many times I hear the same words, I am always glad to hear your voice of repentance. I am always more than happy to lift that burden and give you a skip in your step. I never tire of refreshing you, beloved. So don’t you ever tire of coming to Me! I am always there with a willingness to hear. I am always willing to sweep away all those cares and doubts and refresh you deep within. I am so willing that I wrote it in My book, and as You know, My truth is settled forever in heaven. My truth lives on forever. So don’t you fail to come to Me to receive My mercy, My forgiveness. Don’t you fail to come to Me to have Me lift those cumbersome burdens. I am more than eager and I want you to be more than eager to come to Me. I don’t care if you have to come to Me 70 times 7 times a day. Come. I will hear. I will forgive. I will lift those burdens. I will refresh you. This is your inheritance, beloved. Receive it! Yes! Receive what is yours today. Receive it tomorrow. Receive what I have for you, what I give you freely, and know true heart peace, know a refreshing deep within your heart now!

You Are Loved
God wants to tell you that you are loved, that you are so very special to Him. No matter what you have done or still may be doing, does not affect the way He loves you. He longs for your presence, and intimate relationship with you. He will not harm you, He will not hurt you. He loves you with an everlasting love. He died and rose for you, His arms were spread wide open for you, that is how much He loves you.
You need not run from Him, He knows your thoughts, your every move, He knows how many hairs are upon your head. You do not need to be afraid of Him. Cry out to Him. Pour out your heart to Him. Scream out to Him, He is your friend.
He will not ridicule you, or torment you. He will not beat you, or turn from you. Where ever you are, what ever you have done, seek His forgiveness and He will forgive. His promises that are written in His word are true. He has plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. These promises were written for you.
He wants you to have peace in your life amongst the trials. He does not promise a problem-free life, but He does promise to be there with you through it all, to the end of your days.
Reach up to Him. Stretch out your arms to Him. Seek His face, His embrace. Seek His promises and His will for your life. Keep your head up, my friend, for He is with you until the end.

In This Generation
The darkness that has come upon the earth is not new; it is only new to those on the earth now. My people, why have you not learned from those things long gone by? Study My word, know My word, and be filled with My Holy Spirit so you can be the overcomers that I would have you to be.
History will repeat itself.** How will you react to it? What do you choose to do? Do you choose to receive wisdom from your Lord God, or to receive the wisdom of men?
You will only be victorious if you seek Me, the Lord, your God, and if you follow the leading by My Holy Spirit. You must act on My word, and not just be hearers only. For I, the Lord God, look for a faithful people who will do My will, and not man's will.
This is your generation. Will you seek to do My word and will in this generation?
** Verses on History repeating itself
Eccl 3:1 "To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven"
Eccl 3:15 AMP "That which is now already has been, and that which is to be already has been; and God seeks that which has passed by [so that history repeats itself]"
Eccl 1:10-11 AMP "Is there a thing of which it may be said, See, this is new? It has already been, in the vast ages of time [recorded or unrecorded] which were before us. There is no remembrance of former happenings or men, neither will there be any remembrance of happenings of generations that are to come by those who are to come after them."

Teach and Preach Continually 23 July, 2009
"And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." (Acts 5:42)
The Great Commission was given to every Christian and implied a daily ministry of witness by life and word. The early Christians took it seriously, as our text implies. Even when they began to be persecuted for it, this merely led to a wider proclamation of the gospel. "Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word" (Acts 8:4).
The command of Christ was to "preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15), and this required every Christian to be involved every day. The "gospel" includes the entire scope of the person and work and teachings of Jesus Christ, so both preaching and teaching are involved. Furthermore, Christ did not say "send," but "go!" Although it is vital that missionaries be sent and supported as they go to "the regions beyond," each believer must go to those he can reach, as ability and opportunity allow. "Jerusalem . . . Judaea . . . Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8) were all to be reached not consecutively, but simultaneously, and this would require both personal and financial participation by every Christian.
The message was to "teach and preach Jesus Christ," in all His fullness. Their witnessing was to be "unto me" (Acts 1:8). It was to be both in public and in private--"in the temple, and in every house." They were to pray to "the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest" (Luke 10:2), and also to train "faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2).
And the result of this intense first-century dedication to the Great Commission was that "the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly" (Acts 6:7). However, the work has never been completed, and the command is still in effect. HMM

Those Thees and Thous 24 July, 2009 "And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do." (Exodus 4:15) These words of God, spoken to Moses concerning the mission he and his brother Aaron were to undertake at Pharaoh's palace, are one of numerous examples in Scripture where the King James translation uses several different forms of the second-person pronoun. In this one verse, we see the words "thou," "thy," "you," and "ye," all fulfilling this function. Most modern translations would translate this sentence: "You shall speak to him . . . and I will be with your mouth . . . and will teach you what you shall do." Why would the King James translators use four different forms of the pronoun when only "you" and "your" are used in modern versions? The fact is that the Elizabethan-age English was able to make much finer distinctions than modern English. That is, "thou," "thee," "thy," and "thine" were used for the second person singular, where as "ye," "you," "your," and "yours" were the corresponding words for the plural. Different words also were used for subject, object, and possessive modifier, as is still true for first and third-person pronouns. In our text, God was telling Moses that he (Moses) was to speak to Aaron, and that He (God) would then teach both of them, not just Moses, what they were to do. This distinction is clear in the King James English, but not in modern English. This is one of numerous examples where such fine points in the King James language are lost in modern translations. In the Lord's Prayer, for example, "yours is the kingdom" could suggest that many will possess the kingdom, where "thine is the kingdom" clearly recognises one God alone. Clear words are important for clear meanings, and Jesus said, "My words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24:35). HMM

Things We Can't Do Without 25 July, 2009
"That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world." (Ephesians 2:12)
There are many things in this world that we can easily get along without, but some that are absolutely essential: First of all, we need Christ. Otherwise we are like the Gentiles described in our text--"without Christ . . . having no hope, and without God in the world."
Secondly, if we were ever to be saved, Christ must shed His blood for our sins, for "without shedding of blood is no remission" (Hebrews 9:22). In order for His death to be effective for our salvation, He was "in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15).
Then, before Christ’s work actually becomes effective in our personal salvation, it must be believed and received by faith, for "without faith it is impossible to please him" (Hebrews 11:6). This faith must be true faith, which transforms the life, for "faith without works is dead" (James 2:20). Works do not bring salvation, but saving faith brings "things that accompany salvation" (Hebrews 6:9).
Among those things that accompany salvation is holiness, "without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). Another is the privilege of chastisement! Our heavenly Father must deal with His errant children in loving discipline. Otherwise, "if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye . . . not sons" (Hebrews 12:8).
There are thus seven things we cannot do without. We cannot do without Christ, without the shedding of His blood, without His sinlessness, without faith in Him, without works for Him, without holiness unto Him, and without chastisement by Him. He said, "Without me ye can do nothing" (John 15:5). But with Him, we have everything. HMM

The ringing phone woke me up. It was my friend Patricia, whose premature baby had been in the hospital for two months with a life-threatening infection. Little Emeka had been doing well, so Patricia and her husband, Steve, were spending some much needed time at home. Now Patricia was on the verge of panic: “The doctor called. Emeka!"s’s heart keeps stopping. Can we pray together?” I took a deep breath. “Lord, take our hands as we pray for Emeka. We know your promise: Where two are gathered in your name, you are there.” On the other end a gentle male voice joined in, his quiet, steady words mingling with mine. I had seen Steve at the hospital, his head bowed over the incubator while trying to will strength into his tiny daughter. As I prayed, I couldn’t hear Patricia, only Steve, speaking with me almost in sync. It was as if he knew what I was going to say before my mouth shaped the words. When we finished—together, precisely—I said, “Patricia, grab Steve’s hand.” “Steve’s not here,” she said quickly. “I’ll call you from the hospital.” “Then who—?” I started to ask, but she had hung up. The next day, Patricia reported the infection had disappeared overnight. The baby was going to be okay. “But who was on the line with us last night?” I asked Patricia, puzzled . “Nobody. Steve was out on repair calls. You and I prayed alone.” No, I thought. Where two are gathered in his name, …

Systematic, expository study of God’s Word THE CONFLICT OF NATIONS AND HEAVENLY POWERSDaniel 10:1-21 This chapter is an introduction to the incredible revelation given to Daniel, the prophet. The vision recorded in chapters ten, eleven and twelve stretches from Daniel’s time till the end of the Great Tribulation. The tenth chapter of Daniel prepared him for the startling revelation of the end time. The Babylonian captivity was over and Cyrus, the Persian king, had made a decree that the Jews could return to their homeland. They were also to build the temple in Jerusalem. Although they had been set free, there were still many Jews left in Babylon. They chose to remain captives in the land of idolatry. Only 42,360 of them had returned home (Ezra 1:1-4; 2:1,64,65). The great majority of the Jews had become so involved in Babylonian life that the land of promise, the pleasant land, the glorious land, held no interest in their hearts. Daniel’s great desire and anticipation had not been realized. If it was perilous to be “at ease in Zion” (Amos 6:1), it must be terribly dangerous to be at ease in Babylon. The situation brought much grief to Daniel’s heart. He mourned. More disturbing was the news from Jerusalem. The enemies of Judah had hindered the small remnant of Jews who had returned home from building the temple (Ezra 4:1-5,23,24). Daniel had heard that the enemies of God’s people had made all the reconstruction work to stop. The Jews had also fallen back into the same kinds of sins that drove them into captivity in the first place (Ezra 10:1-3,13). “In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks” (Daniel 10:2). As Daniel was burdened, he fasted and prayed. God’s response to his prayer and fasting brought this great revelation to him. 1. REVELATION AFTER COMMITMENT TO PRAYER WITH PURPOSE OF HEART Daniel 10:1-9; 9:3,4; Ezra 9:4-8; Nehemiah 1:2-11; Revelation 1:12-16; 19:11-16; 1:17,18; Isaiah 6:1-8. This vision came to Daniel in the third year of the reign of Cyrus and he was assured of the truth of the matter. He was also made to understand that the time of its fulfilment would be in the future – “the time appointed was long”. God granted the prophet to see great events concerning Israel and the nations of the world from his time to the end of the world and the resurrection of the dead (Daniel 12:1-3). Daniel received the revelation while he was mourning, fasting and praying for his nation. His intensity of desire led to importunity in prayer. Daniel had heard of the obstruction of the building of the temple by the enemies of God’s people and that led him to sorrow of heart, fasting and intercession. True believers in Christ cannot but mourn and pray when they see the work of God hindered and the salvation of souls delayed. Though Daniel was now a very old man, he had enough concern for God’s glory in his nation that he fasted and prayed. Daniel’s self-denial and devotion should encourage us, who are much younger than he was, to consecrate and devote ourselves to God for the spiritual welfare of God’s people and the salvation of sinners in the world. After three weeks of fasting and praying a glorious personality from heaven appeared to Daniel. This supernatural being from heaven was “clothed in linen”, “girded with fine gold” and “his body also was like the beryl”, like a precious stone of a sky colour. “His face” was “as the appearance of lightning and his eyes as lamps of fire”. His searching, piercing, penetrating eyes see the depths of all hearts with holy intelligence. He sees everything in the future as clear as everything past and present. He sees perfectly; nothing misses his searching eyes. “His arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass”. His strong arms uphold the righteous and his white–hot glowing bronze feet crush the unrighteous in judgment. God cannot and will not condone sin; He will smash the rebellious and crush the unrighteous under His feet. “And the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude”. The thundering authority of his voice is enough to strike sinners’ hearts with terror. “A great quaking fell upon them (the men that were with Daniel), so that they fled to hide themselves”. 2. RESISTANCE AND CONFLICT OF PRINCES IN THE HEAVENLIESDaniel 10:10-14; Zechariah 3:1,2; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2,3; 6:12; 1 Thessalonians 2:18; 1 Timothy 4:1,2; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15. The appearance of the glorious messenger from heaven had a great impact on Daniel. “And there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength”. His spirit was overwhelmed, his vigour and natural strength failed him. If the righteous and the greatly beloved could not stand in the immediate presence of divine glory, what would happen to sinners at the White Throne Judgment when they appear before God in His glorious majesty? “And, behold, an hand touched me.” The divine touch strengthened him. “Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.” The hand of God’s power going along with the word of His grace is able to strengthen us and make us stand in His presence. He can silence our fears and strengthen our hearts with “the word of His power.”“From the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days” (Daniel 10:12,13). God responded promptly to Daniel’s supplication and intercession. Daniel always obtained a prompt answer to his prayers. “At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved” (Daniel 9:23). What caused the three-week delay at this time? The resistance of a demonic prince of the kingdom of Persia. Michael, a chief angelic prince, is the angel assigned and appointed by God to defend and protect Judah, the people of Daniel. Satan, the arch-enemy of God and the great adversary of God’s people also appoints and assigns his evil angels over the nations of the world to oppose and try to thwart God’s plan and purpose for His people. With perseverance in prayer by Daniel, the evil angelic prince was defeated and the angel from God’s presence broke through and came forth to reveal God’s unalterable plan to Daniel. 3. REASSURANCE OF CONQUERING WITH THE PRINCE FROM HEAVENDaniel 10:15-21; 12:1; Jude 9; Revelation 12:7-12; 2 Kings 6:13-17; 19:30-37; Psalm 34:7; Hebrews 1:13,14. Daniel was comforted and greatly strengthened by the angel’s reassuring words. “Fear not, Daniel.” “O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee; be strong, yea, be strong” (Daniel 10:12,19). “And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened.” Christ, Who is greater than the greatest of the angels, has spoken the same reassuring words to each of His disciples. “Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom”. “Fear not; I am the first and the last” (Luke 12:7,32; Revelation 1:17). Daniel was not to be afraid at the presence of the angelic messenger from heaven or of the power of the prince of the air opposed to him or his people. What comfort and consolation we have in the presence, in the promise, in the power of Christ, our Lord and Defender. God’s people must not fear the power and opposition of the prince of the kingdom of Persia. And though “the prince of Grecia shall come” ultimate victory “is noted in the Scripture of truth”. “Michael, one of the chief princes”, “Michael your prince”, “Michael, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people” will eventually defeat “the great dragon and his angels”. “The Israel of God” (Galatians 6:16), “the Church of the living God” (1 Timothy 3:15) has nothing to fear. Our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ, has conquered Satan and his host. “It is finished”. “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (Romans 8:37). * * * * * * * Congregational Song:WILL YOUR ANCHOR HOLD? 1. Will your anchor hold in the storms of life? When the clouds unfold their wings of strife; When the strong tides lift and the cables strain, Will your anchor drift, or firm remain? We have an anchor that keeps the soul Stedfast and sure while the billows roll: Fasten’d to the Rock which cannot move, Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love! 2. It is safely moored ’twill the storm withstand, For ’tis well secured by the Saviour’s hand; And the cables passed from His heart to mine, Can defy the blast, through strength divine. 3. It will firmly hold in the straits of fear, When the breakers have told the reef is near, Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow, Not an angry wave shall our bark o’erflow. 4. It will surely hold in the floods of death, When the waters cold, chill our latest breath, On the rising tide it can never fail, While our hopes abide within the veil ! 5. When our eyes behold, through the gathering night The city of gold, our harbour bright, We shall anchor fast by the heavenly shore, With the storms all past for evermore. My Child, Yes, I see all your days and know of their number. I see that you had different plans than from what I had originally created for you, but I also knew how to bring you to Myself. I knew you would come. Yes, I saw your sin. I saw you when you were selfish. I saw you when you were angry. I saw you when you were unkind. I saw you when you hurt. I saw all of your pain and yes, I did weep.
I have seen all your days, child, and that is why I sent My Son. I sent My Son, so that you could learn of Me through His precious blood. It was He who would show you your sin in ways that you could understand. You have found His love, and this is the same love that flows though into your veins. My seed has been deposited in you, and that is why your heart yearns for Me.
Whenever you step away from Me, you step away from My love. Remember that I made you to love. I am love. This is the yearning that you feel from the deepest parts from within you. This is the very substance of who I am.
Keep drawing near to Me, and you will behold My love in all of My fullness and glory. It is what I wanted for you from the very beginning.
I am well pleased child, with your yearning for Me, for this is My design.

Growth in Christ 27 July, 2009 "And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more." (1 Thessalonians 4:10) It is not enough merely to be saved; the babe in Christ should grow into Christian maturity. "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby" (1 Peter 2:2). The babe will grow on milk for a time, but soon he needs more. "For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil" (Hebrews 5:13-14). Nor is it enough just to grow in knowledge of God’s Word, though this is vital. In our text, Paul was commending the Thessalonians for the evidence of Christian love in their lives. But then he urged them to "increase more and more." "I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment" (Philippians 1:9). Like the Thessalonians, our faith also needs to grow. "Your faith groweth exceedingly," Paul wrote (2 Thessalonians 1:3). The apostles "said unto the Lord, Increase our faith" (Luke 17:5), and this could well be our prayer, too. We ought also to be growing in grace. The very last word of the apostle Peter, before his martyrdom, was this: "Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). One measure of grace is the grace of giving and, as Paul urged the Corinthians, "see that ye abound in this grace also" (2 Corinthians 8:7). Unlike our physical life, we ought never to stop growing in our spiritual life. Our measure cannot be less than that of "a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we . . . may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ" (Ephesians 4:13-15). Wonderful Words of Life 28 July, 2009 "Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them." (Psalm 119:129) Modern liberals may ridicule Bible-believing Christians as bibliolaters, but the fact is that it is not possible to place the Bible on too high a pedestal. "Thy testimonies are wonderful," the psalmist says, for "his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor" (Isaiah 9:6), whose testimonies they are. Consider just how wonderful are the Scriptures. They were written in the heart of God even before the creation. "For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven" (Psalm 119:89). Then, "at sundry times and in divers manners," this eternal Word of God was conveyed to men, as God "spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets" (Hebrews 1:1). Finally, it was complete, and the last of the prophets concluded it with an all-embracing warning: "If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life" (Revelation 22:18-19). Critics who tamper with the words of the Bible are on dangerous ground, the psalmist said: "Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever" (Psalm 119:160). Jesus said: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24:35). Eternal in the past; inviolable in the present; forever in the future! All we shall ever need for our guidance is to be found in God's wonderful testimonies: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable. . . . That the man of God may be perfect" (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is not possible to have too high a view of Scripture, "for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name" (Psalm 138:2). HMM

It is true that My word is like a two-edged sword, but dear one, do not mistake who that sword is intended to be used on. It is not meant for one of My own to to wield it against their brothers and sisters in Me.
The power of My word is intended to separate the bone from the marrow, to reveal and remove the flaws that keep you from walking in the fullness of your relationship with Me. It is meant as something that My Spirit applies individually to each of you at precisely the right time, in His wisdom and knowledge. He does this only after having prepared you for the correction that He is about to bring. It is meant to help you grow and mature into your full stature in Me, and to learn to live in a manner that is pleasing to My Father and free from the bondages of the enemy.
Too many of My own are taking it upon themselves to try to become the conscience and correction of their brethren. They slash out at their brethren over minor things, wielding the sword of My Spirit as a weapon against their siblings, while ignoring the issues in their own lives.
My word is a powerful sword, but it is not intended as a weapon to slash out at other believers. It is not intended to be used as a club to beat a young one over the head--for I am about liberty and life, not about condemnation. I will bring correction and I will bring maturity into the lives of each of My own, but I will do so in My timing and in My way.
So allow My sword to be applied like a surgeon's knife to your own life, and allow My Holy Spirit to wield that sword with the great skill that He possesses. His desire (and My desire) is for you to grow and be perfected. He will cut away the things that hinder and harm and hold you back, so that you might be transformed into Our very image.
Do not allow yourself to fall into the temptation to use the sword of My Spirit as a weapon against others in the family of God. Instead, trust Me to take care of others at precisely the right time. Likewise, allow My Spirit to apply My sword to your own life, that He might remove from you every thing that holds you back from walking in victory and maturity.

Our Listening God 29 July, 2009 "O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come." (Psalm 65:2) There come times in each life when loneliness overshadows like a cloud and no one is there to listen and provide counsel. Or perhaps there is some problem so personal and intimate that it seems unfitting or too embarrassing to share with anyone else. But God will listen! No need is so small, no place too remote, no burden too heavy, that He who is the "God of all grace" and "the God of all comfort" (1 Peter 5:10; 2 Corinthians 1:3) will not listen and care. "The LORD will hear when I call unto him" (Psalm 4:3). Young people sometimes complain that their parents won't listen to them; wives may say their husbands don't listen; sometimes it seems that no one will listen to our questions or ideas about anything. But "the LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth" (Psalm 145:18). Therefore, "pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah" (Psalm 62:8).
But how can He listen? After all, God is far away upon His throne. The risen Savior ascended far above all heavens, to sit down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. How can the Father hear when we whisper a prayer in our hearts that no human could hear? God is indeed up there, but He is also right here! Jesus said: "It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you" (John 16:7). Our God is a tri-une God, and He can be both in heaven and in our room, and even, as the Holy Spirit, within our very hearts. Of course, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" (Psalm 66:18). But for those who confess and forsake their sins, "his ears are open unto their prayers" (1 Peter 3:12). HMM

Trust In Me
I hear each one of your prayers and I know the desires of your heart. Trust Me to bring them about in due season. I don't expect you to understand all of the trials, pain and suffering that you may be experiencing, but I do ask you to trust in My goodness and great love for you.
Know that My will for you is good. My ways are not the ways of man, this you can be thankful for! For I am the Lord your God, and there is no other. Do not fear, for you are in My thoughts and heart at all times. What can you do in your own strength? Trust in Me and know I will meet your needs, according to My timing.
Wait and trust in Me, and My peace will rein in your heart and soul. Know this: I am greater than any problem or trial that you can ever experience. I love you without measure. Put your trust in Me, for without Me you can do nothing. So, give up on your own strength and follow Me.

The Burdensome Stone 31 July, 2009 "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it." (Zechariah 12:3) The tiny land of Israel is an amazing phenomenon, explainable only in biblical terms. It began almost 4,000 years ago with the family of Jacob (or Israel) and his twelve sons. Most of the contemporary nations at the time--Elam, Chaldea, the Hittite empire, and others--have long been extinct as nations, but Israel is alive and well, and is in fact the very hub of international concern. It has, as God prophesied, become a "burdensome stone for all people." Israel has indeed become a unique burden to the nations. The whole Muslim world insists that Israel be destroyed as a nation, but Israel is determined to maintain her present boundaries. For 1,800 years, "the wandering Jew" had no true home, yet survived. In accord with biblical prophecy, she had "become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee" (Deuteronomy 28:37). The city of Jerusalem itself, just since the time of Christ, has been controlled at various times by the Romans, Syrians, Arabs, Crusaders, Egyptians, Persians, and Turks; but never again by the Jews until our own generation. The problem of Israel and Jerusalem is apparently intractable to the other nations of the world and so must be resolved by God. Zechariah 12 also shows that it will indeed be solved "in that day"--the day when Christ returns. At that time, He says: "I will pour upon . . . the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him" (Zechariah 12:10). In that great day, says Paul, "all Israel shall be saved" (Romans 11:26). HMM

Growth Pains
Child of Mine, there is some discomfort involved in growth and maturity. This is true both in the natural and in the spirit. Think back to the time of your own puberty and remember how difficult and awkward that time of transition was for you. Likewise, do not be surprised that it is difficult and awkward when you enter your spiritual puberty.
Many of My own hope to stay in a state of spiritual infancy. They want to live their entire lives as a "small child" in the kingdom, where they have very little responsibility and accountability. They desire to be spoon-fed instead of working to prepare their own meal. They want to be carried in My arms instead of learning to successfully walk along a difficult path of faith. In short, many of My people want things to come easily for them; they do not want to be forced to grow up into that place of maturity in Me.
But I am calling My people to a place of maturity. It is not possible to avoid maturing in the spirit any more than it is possible to avoid physically growing in the natural.
Many of My dear ones have tried to avoid this because the growth process is uncomfortable for them. But this is a time and season where I am requiring My people to grow up, so that they may stand strong and faithful in Me. I want to be able to work through My people to accomplish My purposes. But just as a parent cannot send their young child to work along side of him in the family business, neither can I send My spiritual infants to work along side of Me in what I desire to do in this earth. I have a plan and a purpose and a destiny for each of My own, and that is why I require them to grow and mature--so that they may accomplish it.
Dear one, I know this process is painful for you. I know how difficult it is to learn to stand in faith, but you must learn to stand. I know how difficult it is to lay down your own desires and plans to walk in obedience to Mine, but it is necessary for you to learn how to do that. I know how uncomfortable it is when your flaws and shortcomings rise up to the surface, but I must expose them I am going to extract them from your life. I know how painful the hurts of the past can be and how difficult it is to forgive those who wronged you, but these things must be brought to the surface so that they can be addressed and overcome.
Dear one, your periods of rapid growth and maturity will seem awkward for you, but do not fear. I will be with you and I will remain beside you and I will bring you through into that place of maturity and grace in Me. Do not fear the growth process, little one. Instead look forward to what you will be like once you are more fully matured. And do not fear that I will reject you or push you away as you work your way through this awkward maturity process. I will not be appalled by your struggles, for I have already seen what you will be when you come out the other side, and I look forward to bringing you there.
You cannot avoid this process of growing and maturing in Me, but it doesn't have to be so difficult for you. Rest in My arms and focus on Me, and I will encompass you in My love and grace. I will help you through this process; I will lead and guide you, and I will strengthen you. In fact, the more you submit to Me in this, the more quickly I will cause you to come through this process and into that place of maturity in Me.

Anointing
I have entrusted you my church with my anointing. An anointing that overides, overrules and overpowers all the works of darkness. My Son was manifested to destroy all the works of the enemy and you my people have been entrusted and empowered with my Holy Ghost to enforce this victory in the world.
Many are anointed but few have regard for this anointing. Those who regard it will know a constant increase. Those who do not hold my anointing dear will never see my will and purpose fulfilled. They will watch from the sidelines. They will criticise, they will tear down. They will never be a part of the great manifestations that are close at hand. But they will border on fearful signs and wonders.
Separate yourselves from such people for they will pull you down and hold you back. If you want to carry this anointing there must be a separation my people. You do not have to deal with such people, leave them to me. I understand their heart and I will reward them accordingly. I will reward them according to their works say's The Lord. You are carriers of my anointing don't be carriers of vengeance for vengeance is mine say's The Lord. Those who criticise my anointed and my anointing will reap their rewards for I am just and Holy.
Part of the manifestations of my Spirit that are to come are fearful signs and wonders greater than in days gone by. You will experience and see signs and wonders beyond your comprehension, like nothing ever seen in church history. But know this, those who treasure my glory and presence shall be carriers of my glory and carriers of my presence, far beyond the measure previously known.
Many will say where is the God of mercy in these manifestations? As I have said I see the heart and I will reward them. Don't trouble yourselves with such matters, they are out of your hands. Keep your hearts and guard what I have given you. For you will give an account for all I have given you when we meet face to face. The greater the anointing the greater the accountability. I will not hold you responsible for someone else but for what I have entrusted to you. Guard it treasure it protect it. Then there will be no limit to the flow of power avaliable to you my church.

FOR THOU SAYS THE LORD OF HOST:
I Am Enlisting My Army
These are the days to get ready for battle. Be ready My warriors. The enemy is roaring about like a lion seeking to devour. But I am the God of this world, I am the Alpha, the Omega. I am preparing My warriors as they seek My face, My direction. I am reigning from heaven, I am moving through My army!
I am enlisting My people, who will take My instructions. A people who will claim My word, and walk in faith! Will you forsake the earthly, and follow Me, My warriors? As you press into Me, I shall guide you, I shall release instructions. Yes, as you seek Me, I shall speak to you, so press into Me.
These are the days as My warriors hearken to My voice in this hour. As they draw nigh unto Me and resist the enemy in these days, they shall be victorious in Me, they shall be warriors! Listen to My voice, grab hold of My truths and go forth, My warriors.
Seek My face, cry out to Me, spend time with Me, praise My name. In My throne room there is victory over the schemes and lies of the enemy. As you spend precious time before Me and cry out, I shall come in power! In Me you shall have victory! Yes, victory over darkness of this earth.
I am calling forth My warriors; I am enlisting My army in this hour. Yes, I am calling you to battle in this hour, to stand strong in Me. Yes, stand on My word. Take My sword and speak to the mountains. They shall fall and My light shall come forth. In Me there is victory. Like David, you are able to slay the enemy! You shall have victory.
Because in My promises you have authority over darkness. This is the hour to proclaim My truths. Stand firm in Me! In Me there is hope, In My Spirit there is liberty for My people! So My army, arise and fight; go forth with My authority, My boldness. You shall have victory in this hour. Declare war in this hour against the enemy. You are more than conquerors in Me in this hour, My warriors! You shall see open heavens, you shall hear from Me. So arise and go forth. You shall see many come into My family as you declare war over the enemy, as you speak My word!
Are you willing to hearken to My voice? Are you ready to stand? Yes, stand in faith and declare war over the enemy in this hour. You shall see much fruit, as you walk in obedience to My Spirit. Fight the fight of faith in this day, in this hour, My warriors!
