There are over 3 million Nigerians online. But, only about 170 of them have blogs! Why are we not blogging?
I mean blogs are now becoming big business in America, Europe and Asia. There are over 32 million blogs now and more blogs are created every minute of the day.
I feel lonely in the forum of the largest blog traffic site called BlogExplosion, because other Nigerian bloggers have not joined the forum.
Other countries in Africa are even ahead of Nigeria in the blogosphere.
I want millions of Nigerians to join the blogosphere and let use use our blogs to redeem the battered image of Nigeria as the notorious origin of most Internet Scammers.
The active responses of Nigerians on Nairaland show that Nigerians can do the same in the blogosphere.
C'mon Nigerians! Let's go blogging and fly the Nigerian flag higher in the blogosphere.

Orikinla,
thank you for that awesome statistics. I also agree that the culture of blogging is yet to peremeate the 3 million Netzines in Nigeria. I kind of sense that the fate of blogging by our people would be determined by the out come of this current and phenomenal experiment with our Nairaland Forum. What do u think?

Nairaland is very exciting and I am proud to talk about it in the blogosphere. There are things you can say on your blogs and you cannot say in a forum. Because, the forum administrators and moderators can accept or reject your posts and you have limitations in your contributions to the conversations in moderated forums. I want more Nigerians to join the blogosphere and say whatever you want to say. To free your mind. Bridge Blogs are bridging the wide gap in communication between the developed and undeveloped nations. Blogs promote citizen journalism for grassroots democracy. I am promoting the establishment of Citizen Journalists Association of Nigeria(CJAN) on http://citizenjournalistsassociationofng(dot)blogspot(dot)com

Hey, Don't Laugh! I am a naturally shy person when it comes to showcasing my works for scrutiny or critique. So that is why I have refrained from introducing my blog to you friends. However, Orikinla, igwe4life and others have gently and systematically drawn me out to do the contrary. Please, don't make me run ooo, I am so nervous about this, just look and go away jeje. Just allow me to live my quiet and anonymous life. I bribe you with love so that you will just look and go. I am too fragile for any comment either positive or negative. @Orikinla, what is the source or cause of your harassment in the world's 5th most populous Megacity? particularly on a public holiday when traffic (the No.1 "Harasser") is significantly reduced. I have recently updated my bolgs, newlooks, new counters, give them a visitation and comment: www.aderaskeey(dot)blogspot(dot)com and www.peoplesarena(dot)blogspot(dot)com

Wande, my critique of your site is for both you and even I, the Critic. When I started by blog in August last year, I did with a simplistic heart like you. But from April last month I am wiser. You can't just start a blog for 'everything' and 'anything'. If the purpose of your blog is to bring traffic and thereby increase your income or earnings. (That is why you pasted Google adverts anyway). You must be focused on a theme not just on 'everything'. a traffic of nine visitors in five months from January is a huge joke. I installed my counter 2 weeks ago and I already have a traffic of over 200+, mine is still part of that huge joke too but I have a friend who started a blog lat month April and has made over one-hundred-and-seventy-fourDollars ($174) in his first month that is purpose! check if you can learn something from this site: http://adsense(dot)blogspot(dot)com/2006/05/unobtrusive-ads-can-boost-revenue.html#linksYou can send me a note on my yahoo address and we would colaborate further for tips and the growth of our adsense revenue.

Wande, Your blog http://wande2006(dot)blogspot(dot)com is okay and you will improve with time. But take your time before you post your entries. Correct your mistakes. God bless. Queenzy is still the Young Queen of the Nigerian Blogosphere. She has more sites than the other Nigerian female bloggers and more ambitious too. Lest I forget, as Seun suggested, NigerianBloggers should be given a better template and Seun and Kazey can do this. They are the Geeks I know with the genius for such things.

How popular is your blog? There are over 200 Nigerian blogs. But only very few are popular. And the most popular is Sokari Ekine's Black Looks on http://okrasoup.typepad.com/black_looks/. And I am very proud of her. I will not mention the blogs of Orikinla Osinachi, because I don't want to blow my own trumpet on Nairaland. Most non-Nigerians hardly visit Nigerian blogs, except for Sokari's blog and a couple of other blogs. I am a bridge blogger and I need more traffic to increase the mileage of my blogs to inform more foreigners about Nigeria and Nigerians in order to correct their erroneous and ambiguous impressions and views of Nigeria and I thank God that I am winning all the way. To boost your blog traffic you can join any of the popular blog traffic exchanges. I am giving so many things away on my my popular blog traffic network http://blogclicker.com/?username=BOGGIEWOGGIE. You can win the iOne Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo! on my Blog Traffic Network.

hi Orikinnla, quite a space. good update of Nigerian blogs: from 170 in April to "over 200" in May. my wife visited Sokari's blog link that you gave but found that he had moved since a month ago to her own domain. you said most non-Nigerians hardly visit Nigerian blogs, well, let me inform you that over 81% of visitors to my blog http://tahitianoni(dot)blogspot(dot)com are outside the shores of Nigeria. Orikinla, with great respect for your internet presence and experience, I am bothered by your attitude to monetized blogs. I have been a writer, editor and publisher since 1983 and i have never seen a greater motivation to write than the monetary reward for my talents and writing skills. Do you know that our million times goodwill to Seun would not have stopped him from closing shop if he had not monetized Nairaland. Why not let us go the whole hog by telling our people the TRUTH about monetized blogs. In two weeks since May 14th, I have had a poor but encouraging blog-traffic of 162 guests and an Adsense earnings of over $34 Dollars. All on my http://tahitianoni(dot)blogspot(dot)comIf You truly want an explosion in the Nigerian blogosphere, then you must point the way to Nigerian bloggers. MONETIZED BLOGS! Seun has close to 10,000 visitors daily- that is a terrific traffic, but you will be shocked to learn of his abysmally poor CTR (click through rate). Why? because we have refused to embrace the techniques of optimizing our sites. I know big names in the ezine and adsense publishing industry in Europe and the US who would beg to have half of Seun's daily traffic and you will be shocked the enormous revenue they would generate from that. I call them "big names" because with their present traffic, they have become household names in the industry by reason of the revenue they command with their websites. Orikinla, you are my web friend and I deeply respect you. But I beg to differ with you on Monetized Blogging. Your counsel to wande is deceptively comforting. I checked his blog again today and was happy that he has improved with at least 4 postings this may. But surprisingly he has removed all google ads on his blog. Only a wrong counsel could have made him to do that! Enough of self-adulation, Let us move forward!
