I can not believe someone actually made this thread. Why are U mad at him? The Man is doing his best and you are on here criticizing him. The reason the media loves him is because he is a hero. Can you named me anyone that have won so many medals at just 1 Olympic. He worked so hard to achieve all those medals. ALL THE ATTENTION HE IS GETTING COMES WITH BEING SUCCESSFULL!!! If he was a Nigerian, He would have been named a hero. Since he is American, HE IS A PHONY!!! GO AND HANG YOURSELF while He Swim to victory!! Your talent is God's gift to you.

The Williams sisters have achieved far more than any other tennis female player in America in the last 20 years YET the faces of female tennis are two Russian blondes (one who hasnt actually ever won anything of note). Yes Phelps "worked hard" to win 8 gold medals, its not so hard to win 8 gold medals in swimming when its essentially the same thing over different distances with the same opponents time and time again. Try winning 8 gold medals as a track athlete or boxer or football player . . . The media loves Phelps not just because he is a "hero" but because he is just one more white face to hype. Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin are being heralded as "heroes" too, infact there are now ads running on TV with their faces . . . where are the Williamses who won another doubles gold here for the US? Their faces arent made for the TV? Silly Nigerians falling over themselves to "love" another white american who doesnt give 2 shakes of a ducks tail whether they exist. Where is Carl Lewis whose record of winning both the 100m and 200m still stands since 1984? |

Lets admit when a person is good, whether black or white, American or no American, he's a great Olympian probably not the greatest but then, he's the type we don't get to see all the time otherwise, his feat shouldn't have been new to anyone.hyped or not, Phelps lived up to expectations and as such he deserves whatever he's getting right now.

Phelps is a great olympian IMO. But in swimming, you have many events. If you had many events in football like penalties, freekicks, speed and quickness, then Messi might be stacking medals too. Same as basketball if they had dunk, lay-up, alley-oop, dribbling, and 3pt competition in the olympics. I'm sure Kobe would be stackin medals, But Phelps is no phony.

Venus has won Wimbledon 5 times second only to the likes of Navratilova and King. Between then both sisters have won 14 grand slams . . . Venus and Serena have won 3 olympic gold medals for the US in 4 years. What has Sharapova and Kournikova done? What a self-denigrating negro you are. |
