Wigan boss Steve Bruce has Ryan Taylor available after a shin injury.
Erik Edman (knee ligament) remains on course for an October return after resuming light training this week.
Chelsea's Michael Ballack has responded well to treatment to his ankle and could figure, while fellow midfielder Michael Essien may also be fit.
Strikers Didier Drogba (knee) and Andriy Shevchenko (groin) are out but Salomon Kalou is available after returning from the Olympics.

Though we didn't play that well, but all that matters is 3 points and we're still top.
Just really need drogba to recover fast because Anelka is just "jide choba" (hold but still they look out). He really don't worth wearing Blues shirt.
Now that Shevchenko has gone back to Milan and Pizarro no more, I think we need a stand-by striker for Drogba because Anelka is definitely not.
