Actually, i studied for the CWNA course on my own. and i can tell you that it wasn't easy. you have to be motivated and dedicated. I have no knowldege of what courses aptech offers so i cant help you there. However, get yourself a couple of good books on wireless technology and the cwna study guide and off you go. Try to  also get your hands on some wireless equipment like routers, antennas, wireless cards etc so as to broaden your knowledge. Once you are sure that you have read all that you can, then get the dumps and read them in preparation for the exams which can be taken at any prometric testing centre. Goodluck with it and and if you have any questions holler.

I don't think you can ever hack into the wireless network if the wireless hotspot  gateway they are using is Mikrotik router OS on linux platform never you can't

Please, thats so eazy.

To get administrative access in order to manipulate the hotspot, you just need to hack the winbox utility (if you don't know find out). Secondly, have you ever heard of a packet sniffer ? Ma guy, go read and get back to me when you are done. I will then mark your homework.  Cool Cool Cool

. . . .although wireless networks can be hacked, you make it sound as if
all secured wireless networks are cakewalks!
you obviously need to do more hacking, then you'll meet your match.
If i'm network admin of any network you want 2 hack i'm sure you'll have a

hello guys. Down here most wireless network need mac add authentification, but your question met be how to get the mac add of a user. now this how you go about it.
1. you get a mac add scanner, after that you connect to the network and scanner for other users mac. 2. you get a mac add changer and changer your mac add to valid users own. never mind if it says your ip conflit with someone's own
    2nd method
1. if you use windows you must love the ms-dos. Now connect to the network you want to hack.
2. open the ms-dows and type ''netview'' with quotes this enables you to see the people connected to the network.
3. next you ping the pc name of one of the user. if you know the pc name of one that pays monthly or annual its better because they dont usually use passwords.            4. After you ping the pc name the ip of the system you ping appears, if you get an error keep trying or try other users. After that you ''nbtstat'' the ip and vola,  the the person mac add shows. you can use a mac chg or do it manually

Type netview without quotes. If you wireless card support it you can change the mac add manually, go to the network properties then configure look for mac add then optional and type in the new one

Imagine asking a professor of mathematics what is 1+1. I am sure you can see how silly the question is to somebody more knowledgeable. Secondly, i have never claimed that hacking a secured wireless network is easy to a layman. To a sophisticated Pentest Specialist with knowledge of programming skills in python, c,c++ and good command of the linux and windows operating system, of course hacking a secured wireless network is gonna be a piece of cake. The thing is hacking secure wireless networks has to do with the network encryption. Since wireless data is transmitted through the air, it means that your data can be seen and collected by any malicious user. To forestall this occurring is why companies encrypt their networks so that any data that is captured is useless to the person without the correct key or authorisation. The thing now is, most of the encryption technologies have been shown to have one security hole or the other that can be exploited. The only one currently shown to be strong is WPA2-TKIP. Its not impossible to crack just harder and takes more time than a WEP and MAC encrypted network that can be cracked in under 5MIN. YES ! 5Min. Hmmm, thats enough for todays class. Class dismissed.  Cool Cool Cool

Try out these great tools.

1. Netscan - Very useful tool for scanning the network and getting the ip addresses and mac address of the users on the network. If somebody also has a shared folder, you can also gain access to it. http://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner/

2. Technitium Mac Address Changer v.5 - Use this usefull utility to change the mac address of your network interface card. (your wireless or lan card). This is very useful towards by passing networks that mac filtering enabled. http://tmac.technitium.com/

Enjoy

Hello if you want to gain access with a shared system on the network read more on hacking with netbios. remember you can also send trojan to the system to get info or use a system monitoring software like golden eye to get the persons passwords

Actually, i prefer using netcat. Its in the top 10 hacking tools. Its a powerful program to use. However, i would like to recommend to anybody serious in hacking wireless networks to get an external wireless card and dont use the one built into your laptop. This is because most of the softwares for hacking wireless networks dont support the internal wireless cards of your laptops. Also, linux is the best os to use for hacking anything in general. Check out thses books

u know after reading every page of this forum i can say i almost want to die laughing,
well if its WEP, MAC filterning or Mikroti Hotspot all theses are childs play,  you will need only 2 things
1,  a good wireless card,  i recommend an Atheros AG500X [AG5001=AG5008] or a Dlink 650DWL [Not the One with a + at the end],  if u have a Broadcom wireless card please find a sledge Hammer and put it to rest,  cause it is more than useless,
2,  A nice utility called aircrack-ng,  go to google and search for it,  u can also find tutorials on how to use it there

See,  very easy,  but if u want more details u will have to get married to google

Also i have a very simple reason for giving out this information,  and that is ISP's in nigeria will have to learn that there are draw backs in cutting cost,  its not that they do not know that such is possble but they are more conserned with making profit which is ironic since hackers are helping them lose money,

Also like one user said there is no Law here in Nigeria to stop on from War-Driving if that was the case then just scanning for available wireless network will be a crime hence u could go to jail each time your wireless was left on,  the only senerio for which one can be arrested is for breaking into a Secured network but the charges does not amount to cyber crime but rather breaking and entry or theft,  for which one can not be taken to court for a lack of legislation on what was stolen or damages incured,  so in nigeria all u can expect is a stay at the police station or worse get bitten up,

i am an ethical hacker and a supporter for the open source movement. with no certification or working experience so u can ignore me,  but i will say this, i may not be much but i know hacking :Evil Grin: Grin

1. Dude, to some people thats a lot of work. Most of those tools are linux oriented. Some people are just plain lazy and dont want to learn anything.

2. My point exactly. You will be amazed at some big names i see in abuja that are still using WEP encryption on their sensitive wireless networks. Some Network Admins in nigeria are just not disciplined enough.

3. All i learned, i learned through google. Google is your friend.

Yes. Why ? Because, you should see the exorbitant cost of browsing in nigeria. An example, there is the office of one of this new pencom companies near our area. They installed a big 2.4M C band Dedicated VSAT. And they dont have more than 20 staff in the office browsing at the same time. And it just sits there at the end of working hours doing nothing. Abi, see food i no go chop awoof. You should see the speeds am getting. Imagine being the only one browsing all night long on such a connection.  Cool Cool Cool

That's a Personal Area Network established between your phone and pc. You can transfer files and browse the internet through your phone. Check to make sure that your ip address is properly configured (dhcp). You should then see some packets moving based on how much traffic you are generating.

Welcome, fellow comrade at arms  Grin Grin Grin

I use an Alfa AWUS036H wireless card for all my "browsings". Its the most powerful and sensitive wireless card on the market rated at 500mW with -96 dbm sensitivity. Am always around at the remote-exploit forums. The netstumbler and aircrack forums also have good tutorials on their site. As long as you knowledge bro and  willing to share, it doesnt matter who you are. I used to be just like you until the nigerian working environment started biting my ass over lack of "quali". Try Cain and Abel. Multipurpose software for wireless related issues.

Note that you'll have to prevent your anti-virus from perceiving the software as a virus when downloading it.

Read the user manual/help file that comes with it. (Not really a piece of cake for newbies but you'll get the hang of it in due time)

It takes persistent and patience.  Undecided

Works on Windows OS.
