Another police strike is in the offing.
The National Association of Police Specialist Officers has threatened to embark on indefinite strike if the police authorities fail to responding to its request for promotion of its members. A statement signed by the National President of the Association, Chief Superintendent of Police Moday James and National Secretary; Superintendent of Police Musa Emmanuel said the police authorities have refused to promote any of the members of the Association since 2003 while the General Duty officers received their promotions regularly throughout the period.
The statement said if the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General Police remained indifferent in the matter, the Association has no other option that to embark on an indefinite strike. “Since 2003 when we were last promoted, no officer (specialist) was promoted again, while within this period, the General Duty officers were promoted in 2005, 2006, and now 2008. We have been stagnant in one rank since 2003, while we watch the GD officers, who are our counterpart in 2003 now promoted in 2006. This means our mates in GD are now our seniors by 2 years, and yet the police have already excluded us from the recent promotion exercise without any tangible reason as if we are not policemen,” the statement said. The Association said its members have not been receiving the necessary motivations they deserve from the police authorities in spite of handling technical activities within the Police Force. “The Police Specialist includes Medical Doctors, Telecomm Engineers, Civil Engineers, Transport, Forensic Scientist, Computer Scientist etc. We left other better companies and agencies to join the Force, but to our dismay, we were made to suffer. We have also been attending one course or the other to keep ourselves up to date in our various fields sometimes at our own expense and yet the Force is busy promoting illiterates in GD who join the Force with primary school certificates, secondary school certificate etc. The Police leadership is killing the Specialist Sections, and professionals will no longer be interested in joining the Force. The Force also risk losing the current Specialist. One day they will wake up and realize that they don’t have a single Medical Doctor, or Engineer left in the service. In the last two years, a good number of specialists resigned and joined other establishment out of frustration,” the statement said.

Commercial drivers and citizen would rather die than give N20 to an imbecile. In an act of desperation, they tried the complete replacement of armed robbers but the irate citizens chased them into the Atlantic Ocean with juju, cutlass, cassava stem stumps, catapults, stones and broken bottles. This dastardly and despicable act of Nigerians in denying the police their rights has caused acute kwashiokor, stomach ulcer and other malnutrition/starvation related ailments in the in the police community. . . |

People read between the line. this are specialist not the whole Nigerian police force.
This strike will only affect Nigerian police force since most of their families are beneficiaries of the services this Special unions provide.
