Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, over her role in the controversial N100million fundraiser, which she and her group claimed was meant to support the candidacy of Barack Obama, US Democratic presidential hopeful.

Onyiuke was arrested in Abuja today, following a petition written to the EFCC by the authorities of the SEC. She is currently under the custody of the EFCC.

Femi Babafemi, EFCC spokesperson, confirmed arrest.

This woman knows that a lot of people wanted her out, and she went ahead to engage in this kind of triviality.

Well I wish her goodluck. She will only be lucky to remain in her position.

I think this is an example of misplaced priorities. The DG of NSE made a big mistake in this fund raising.

Secondly, it appears that Madam Ndi okereke needs to focus her attention on the business which she has been appointed to carry out.

In fairness to her the OBAMA thing is more like trying to celebrate a good thing that has come to the black race and their will be chain reaction benefits in OBAMA success.

Now to EFCC, they may have a point in arresting Madam NSE on OBAMA issues but there are 1 million rogues they should be chasing and prosecuting. WAZIRI promise she will not operate like RIBADU.

Whether or not anybody like it RIBADU is far superior to all this 'daily tracker'  prosecutor.

You can not compare ordinary rogues to a federal government official who has disgraced the image of our nation.

Believe it or not, Obama saying "NO" to Ndi Okereke-onyuike also indirectly touches everyone of us negatively; it is a national embarrassment.
Please, do not let us get things twisted; allow Nigerian police to deal with the 1 million rogues and give EFCC a chance to focus on dealing with these federal government officials aka thieves leaders.

Furthermore, it isn't fair to compare an outstanding soldier to an injured soldier.

what is  controversial about the funds. This EFCC people need international exposure.  It is normal to raise money for people. Obama is the only candidate in USA history who has decided not to raise money from  fundraiser, Mccain is using fundraiser. My God which kind country be this. Okereke's actions on Obama fundraising were laughable and even stupid, but I hope the EFFC has a better reason for arresting her.

I personally think she dug her own grave. With all the politicking goin on as per perceived OBJ people, she should have bin more careful. She gave them something to capitalise on to get rid of her and they are doing just that.

So if u ask me, I'D say yes the arrest is right because she was dumb; period! What was she trying to do, be his vice president?? Just plain looking for unecessary relevance.

"Okereke-Onyiuke, in a telephone conversation with one of our correspondents, however said that the fundraiser was not for Obama.

“At no time did we say we were raising money for Obama. What we are saying is that Obama is for the world and he has been getting support from Europeans, from Arabs and from all over and Nigerians should not be left out,” she had said.

She added that no one was forced to attend the concert, adding that if there is a surplus from the event, at would be used to sensitise voters in the US.

“I want to make it clear that I am a Nigerian and I have the right to do anything I want with my time and money,” she argued.

What's EFCC'S business if she raised money from a couple of her friends for whatever purpose.
She didn't solicit public funds in anyway. This country is a sad one.
The lady did a fundraiser for whatever purpose and raised money from her peeps for crying out loud. She did nothing wrong!
