Hello everyone, having just joined this forum, i realised that the top web hosting companies in nigeria are not fully mentioned. Check out www.weblagos.com. I have 25 websites hosted with them and i think they are fantastic. They are currently ranked no:3 by www.webhosting.info . . I think we should classify who the top hosts are by the strict ranking of webhosting .info. what do you say?

I think credibility of the hosting company should be the watch word here.

Pricing is not enough reason to choose a particular web host.
Other factors are very important:
- Customer support: How fast will they reply when you have problems? - Reliability: How reliable is their network infrastructure? - Skill: How skilled are their support staff? Can they solve all your web hosting problems? - Security: Is their datacenter secure from intruders? - Power: Do they have a power back-up (batteries and generators) in case the main power source goes off? - Backup: Do they back-up the contents of their clients websites? How often? (You'D have to fall back on back-up data in case of trouble.
I could go on and on,

I think you should make enquiries about them to know the stuff they are made of. As i a mentioned earlier, i have about 25 websites on their server and have been dealing with them for 2 years now with excellent customer service and support. - Power: Do they have a power back-up (batteries and generators) in case the main power source goes off? THEIR SERVERS ARE NOT IN NIGERIA SO THAT SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSSUE.I guess that answers all your questions.

I am not sure what the criteria is for the top hosting company. The best thing to do is to talk to current customers and find out what they think. We offer basic web hosting services but if you are looking for video streaming then it is best to look elsewhere. We also do not have servers in Nigeria. If this is particularly important to you (not sure why it should be) then again we are not the team for you. @ bussby - Power: Do they have a power back-up (batteries and generators) in case the main power source goes off? THEIR SERVERS ARE NOT IN NIGERIA SO THAT SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSSUE.I guess that answers all your questions. You must be from Kuvukiland to think that it is only in Nigeria that power could go off. Power goes off in other countries as well due to natural disasters (like flooding, tsunami/hurricanes), war and even human error. Nigeria or not, every web host needs a proper power back-up system.

You are correct about every host needing a PB. Simple sense in my statement indicates their servers being abroad and not here unlike some Niger based hosting companies who's downtime surpasses the rate at which Nepa strikes here.
