Girl, from what I've read so far, you couldn't be any more closer to he truth.

How can you go abt preaching the world of God and calling someone sh*t and what not?
Please guys, leave the preaching to the pastors if you can't potray your point without getting all foul mouthed.

I did it as a youngman. but the funny thing , when every i do it. even muslim join in the pray. I would like to ask a question , what do you need in the morning the most,  Pray to God or what. I prefer the pray.

In a time like this in a nation life, when it since like the president is sick. The thing we need the most is God for his life and Pray. Remember to pray for President Yar Adua tonight, even if you hate him.

I completely agree with the OP, our aim is to reach people not put them off or scare them, not everybody is suited to public evangelism, and maybe one to one conversations can be more effective, however, a lot of people die not knowing Christ so there is a level or urgency when delivering the Good News.

That stuff has gotten serious to the extent that some of the BRT bus drivers were forced to put a sticker in their buses.

The honest truth is that it depends on the tolerance level of the people in the bus and 90 percent of the time it is annoying.
Now to the war that raged here last night, I read all 13 pages and they sounded so familiar. The atheist or agnostic questions the existence of God or the authenticity of religion mostly christianity to be fair but I think thats because most of them were christians before plus our muslim brothers don't like anyone questioning their religion so there seems to be a double standard I agree too. But there are some things I would love to point out.
1. It was always easier at first to jump in and throw all the rage at the christians but as time went on I realised that it was because I had just discovered for real that these people have throwing dust in our faces( my personal opinion ) but soon after that rage subsided I began to take it slow and right now to me I think both sides should try and be civil about it and refrain from raining abuses at each other, it takes the intellectual shine out of it all but from my experience on nairaland it always almost gets personal.
2. I saw some flimsy comments about people forgetting God when they go to europe and adopt the white man's way. Personally I thought that was a bunch of rubbish because in the first place we live the white man's world here in Nigeria it was never ours we got colonized into believing all this christianity thing and while I must say, to be fair that it brought good things like putting an end to some inhumane practices lets not be quick to forget the guise under which it came and what lessons they taught us in terms of morals or is it now biblically correct to enslave your fellow man? So whose morals did we copy in the first place?
3. It is easy for christians to point out that most of our muslim brothers are terrorists and murderers, while they defend jesus with so much passion that I wonder if they realise that if the tables were turned and the bible allowed for such behaviours they would be any different. Simply put why does    anyone feel his religion is Superior, I think its crazy and absurd, what is even more painful is when you see them rain abuses on other people because they have simply refused to accept you theories about God and this according to the christian standards is totally wrong, correct me if I am wrong but what happened to the other cheek. Do you ever pause to think that Jesus had apostles and disciples when he was been murdered what did he say to peter when he sliced off a guards ear?
4. Religion in general is based on faith, not on absolute truths how do any of you religious people not get that. There are no absolute truths, simply put you believe not because you've seen it and know beyond all reasonable doubt thats its true but because you BELIEVE BY FAITH. Again by FAITH, if we realised this I really think we would all be able to learn in an environment filled with vermin and insults.
Please I am not out for warfare just said my piece and now I am out.

There was once i was in a luxury bus from Uyo to Lagos. One 'pastor' was preaching and when i started to pray, i was just reading through a newspaper i brought and guess, what, he came close to me and tapped my hands severally gesticulating i just close the newspaper and shut my eyes for prayers. How did he know i was not a moslem? though, i'm a xtian.

What if i had punched him at that point?? What do u think? Was he right to have done that?? Cos i was mad.

I've been on a bus once when somebody was leading in chorus and then one Lord's Chosen member started her own seperate chorus. Singing Lord of Chosen bla bla bla bla, I felt like punching her. It's the same God so why cause confusion.

I am a Christian because I gave my life to Christ some years ago(Not because i was born into a "Christain" home)- so I have a relationship not a religion.

Agreed, a lot of "Christians" do some crazy annoying thing in the name of Preaching Christ.

But well, its not for anyone of you here to Judge even though you at liberty to respond to them the way you want to.

Let God be the Judge. But for those of us that dont belieive there is God, let ? be the Judge

I was so amused last night.
People actually stayed up untill past one o clock just to do nothing other than hurl curse words at each other.
To the christians who were engaged with madamkoko in the tirade;whatever happened to turning the other cheek?
Anyway, not to go offtopic, most times,I don't really mind preaching in the bus.It can be enlightening. You see "who-knows-how many" things wrong with what they preach and it turns out to be a source of help to you in times of religious arguments/conversations Wink

Also, what matters is that they get the gospel to you, whether you accept it or not is not ther wahala, that is left for you and God to sort out.
