If he can't break into Lyon's starting line up how does he expect to break into our first eleven?

Chelsea offer £55m for Sergio Ramos. . . .

Is it the radio and TV or are my ears low on battery . . . . I need to change source of power because this can't be true in ten life times. . . £55m HuhHuh Is someone f**king crazy at the bridge? What in this flipping world does he do? he must be a striker, a goal keeper and a coach at the same time. . .

Please someone tell me it was me and not the news. . . because I don't know whether to laugh or cry. .

You should never ever pay more than 30m for a player. You know what AC Milan president Galliani said: Footballers are like cars, they change condition from year to year.

@Somze,

Me? Sergio Ramos? Neva before has he shown up on my radar of wanted players. . . . I don't doubt the fact that he is good. . but I never relished him being in a Chelsea shirt. . . besides I think we have more than enough defenders already!!!

What we need to focus on is the attcking midfield dept, wing-play and attack

Nateevs, I can't find your story on any website. Must be a silly rumour. If Chelsea pay 55m for Ramos, I will stop supporting.

@Ibime

Goal.com only reported a £7m salary on their website. . . but this £55m, I heard on the news on LBc this morning and even Sky sports have reported it. . .
This must be untrue. . . . only Terry and Carvalho in this world are defenders worth close to £30m . . . . Who is hell is Ramos to worth £55m?

I hope this is not linked to the Real interest in carvalho

Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here
« #10345 on: May 07, 2008, 06:28 PM »

^^^Na lie. If there was any substance to it, the major news agencies would have picked it up. LBc must have made up that figure - its probably 55m dollars and they converted it to pounds by mistake. As you know, Ramos is fighting Madrid for a new contract. I believe this rumour was leaked by his people to ensure that Real Madrid give him top dollar. Remember that Milan are also linked with him. Plus he is now a right back, not a centre-back - infact, he is probably the best right-back in the World. I would pay 20-25m for him, but definitely not 55m. Somebody dey smoke Igbo.

it will not happen. even if it is affordable, it is ludicrous for a defender of his class to be bought at such a price. 25million is understandable.

Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here
« #10351 on: May 07, 2008, 06:51 PM »

@Mykali

To me, £25m is not understandable, anything more than £18m for that guy should be forgotten. We have 3 right backs currently in Ferreira, Belletti and Untested Ivanovic. We are tied on points with Manu at the end of the season and in the champiobns league final. . . Whichever way you look at it, we have been in four finals this season.  massive achievements!! We don't need no £25m defender. . . we should rather invest that money into midfield, wings and attack. . . If we scored more goals than Manu this season we have won the league already . . . .

Re: Hughes: Grant Would Step Aside For Rijkaard
« #10356 on: May 07, 2008, 09:52 PM »

Portsmouth midfielder Richard Hughes has claimed that Chelsea boss Avram Grant is prepared to willingly relinquish his position in favour of Frank Rijkaard…

The Israeli has long been an admirer of the Barcelona boss, as has Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Grant faces the sack at the end of this season should his side fail against Manchester United in the Champions League final, and Rijkaard, who is set to leave Barca following a second consecutive trophyless season, could be his replacement.

The Dutchman would fit in quite easily at Stamford Bridge, as his former assistant and Hank ten Cate and close friend Frank Arnesen are already at the club.

And according to Hughes, a close friend of Grant’s, the former Chelsea director of football would gladly step aside and resume his old backroom role.

Modest

“This will take place with Avram’s blessing,” Hughes said. “He is a modest guy who does not particularly like being in the limelight.

“He’d be happy to revert to the role where he acts as a link between the coaching staff and the board.

“Avram is a student of football. I had countless conversations with him when he was here about Barca, their players and the way they play.

“It is well known Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is an admirer of Barcelona and the football they play. He seems to be on a crusade to bring a similar brand of play to Stamford Bridge.

“A big reason for Jose Mourinho leaving was that Abramovich wanted to see a type of football the Special One was not delivering.

“[Grant] is not in it for personal glory and could go about his business outside of the limelight.”

Well, this is what the BBC website is reporting. As we all know The Express is a gutter tabloid and The Mirror have respectable football writers especially Oliver Holt. So you choose who you believe:

Real Madrid are steeling themselves for a major attempt by Chelsea to sign their international defender Sergio Ramos for £50m. (Daily Express)

Although the Blues are apparently only going to offer £20m for Ramos. (Daily Mirror)

I don't think Madrid will be 'steeling' themselves for a £50m bid. They will be doing cartwheels. Stupid journalists!

@ nateevs,

Sergio Ramos @ Chelsea for 50 million quid? Roma Abrahamovic is not that STUPID!!!!
He didn''t buy Daniel Alves at 25 million. . . . .There's no way in HELL he would prise Ramos out of Real Madrid especially now that they are doing well in La Liga. . . . . Its stupid journalism. . . .don't mind em tabloids!!!!

A TALE OF TWO PITCHES.

Manchester United feared their title bid might be wrecked by a cabbage patch in Wigan but perhaps they ought to be more concerned about the surface in Moscow ahead of the Champions League Final on Wednesday week. The pitch at Wigan's JJB Stadium has been heavily criticised this season. Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia claimed it was the worst he had seen in his professional career after the his side drew there in March.

United visit on Sunday, when a win will be enough to retain the Barclays Premier League crown. Although it remains far from pristine, Sir Alex Ferguson will be relieved to see a healthy covering of grass.

The JJB pitch was at its worst in December and January for games against Aston Villa and Everton and was pretty grim for Chelsea's win in the FA Cup six days after Everton's visit.

But the surface has improved, thanks to a few days of sunshine and a fortnight without a home game for either Wigan's football or rugby league teams, who share the stadium. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan even ordered the Warriors to move their cup match from Friday to Monday.

United may find it is still not good enough for their slick passing game and Ferguson will surely have a comment to make if his team trip up and allow Chelsea to snatch the title on the final day of the season.

Both he and Chelsea manager Avram Grant will also be keeping an eye on developments in Russia, where a new grass pitch, grown specifically to replace the artificial surface at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, had to be ripped up almost as soon as it was laid.

Another pitch has been bought from Slovakia at a cost of £160,000 and was hastily imported last week in a bid to have it ready for the Champions League Final between United and Chelsea.

England lost their vital Euro 2008 qualifier on the Luzhniki plastic last year but UEFA insisted their showpiece final must be played on grass.

The Russian authorities had been nurturing the grass in Moscow for nine months and took it to the stadium in 6,000 small squares of turf. But as soon as it was laid, the patchwork effect made it too bumpy and uneven.

Belletti Faces Chelsea Chop - Report

Chelsea defender Juliano Belletti could get the axe this summer as part of Avram Grant’s proposed clearout…
The Brazilian full-back, signed by Jose Mourinho last summer for ₤4 million from Barcelona, has failed to impress Grant since the Israeli took charge in September.

The 31-year-old has fallen well down the pecking at Stamford Bridge following a poor display in Chelsea’s Carling Cup final defeat to Tottenham, with Paulo Ferreira regaining his place at right-back.

Even midfielder Michael Essien has been preferred to Belletti in recent times, and could well start on the right side of defence against Manchester United in the Champions League final next Wednesday.

The former Villarreal man has a year remaining on his ₤35,000-per-week contract, and could well be used as a makeweight if Chelsea pursue their interest in bringing Valencia striker David Villa to London.

Mr Man. . . Where have you been?

Joe Cole player of the year. . . Huh?
The player of the year is Riccy Carvalho. . . . no doubt about that. This guy's consistency surparses the whole team's put together. . Essien, Ballack all just picked up form lately. .

Guess what? Chelsea lost four times this season. . . and Riccy did not play in all four . . . amazing uhh? Yeah that's some defender !!!!

Real will have to pay £50m to get him !!!
