Lets face it guys;

Self-deception has become and english trait for years. for quite a while they fooled the world with their airs, dry 'comedy stars', over-inflated pounds, and sporting bravado. Its coming back to them, and like people who have too much to lose, they will hide under anything but truth.

Simply put, there is no one who has a higher opinion of the english than the english themselves. that is a problem, because then you lose objectivity.

Klinsmann got where he is because he knew he had average players, great keepers and an above-average Ballack. End of story. He played to their strength, created an aura of power that had others scared, got some luck [with pekerman's blunder] and made history. But his foundation was knowing exactly what he had. Same thing Otto in 2004.

England by comparism, had [still has] this mighty opinion of 'the best players in a generation' and decided they were bst in the world. Sure the players were good, but how many of them are really world class? Maybe five.

When u have a team like that, u face facts, play to ur strengths, bring enough strikers [because only one is world class] and build a team ethic rather than harping about stars. What was Lampard and Gerrard doing on the same team? Ok, Rooney saw red because of 4-5-1. why play that style when crouchie is not on-field? so everyone whos is not satisfied with the formation should kill someone? Formation is determined by personnel. If ur players can't play it, you can't. Lampard had a bad tournament, likely due to fatigue - but he had NO replacement on the bench.

back to rooney. did he get a card because of 4-5-1 or because of petulance? football is a great game but lets not forget that its a dangerous one. a tackle can end a career. Putting things in focus, not all cards are intentional. In fact many are due to 'dangerous play' - and when u call yourself a professional, your uniqueness is ability to play professionally. the stakes are higher, your pay is more, and u gotta be better. until rooney clears that, no dice.

Ronaldo was talking to the referee. did he face rooney? Nope. when rooney pushed him right in front of the ref it showed disrespect. its same as you whacking ur little brother in front of ur dad instead of reporting [when we were young]. rooney knew this. he nearly finished a guy's 'descendants'. the least he could do was act sheepish and concerned to garner some 'sympathy votes'.

Bottom line - football is not church. Its got rules, not decency. Decency is to be implemented by the rules. Just like a company's policy.

Its like law - if u know the rules u can succeed. Henry knew the rules and that gave France 2 goals from dodgy decisions - against spain/puyol and against carvalho. rooney knew the rules. ronaldo knew the rules. by the rules, rooney deserved a red. if he'd acted contrite and allowed his teammates to yell, he might, MIGHT,  have gotten a yellow. pushing ronaldo was a yellow again - so even if the ref wanted to have mercy. rooney eliminated the thought. It was a red. a good one. and the ref got the final because of it - because he stood up to the media circus of england and gave their flawed wonderboy a red. He did the right thing in a tight spot, and FIFA fast-tracked him into history as a result.

Bottom line is this: england have the media. do u know the kind of hype that S-africa league has? i wantched ajax cape town [i think] play enyimba last year and they looked like schoolboys. But if u read an S-A paper, they would sound like kings. England is over-hyped, and they live in their own delusions. They don't want to climb out. If they did, they would have begged a coach who knows how to play to his team's strengths like scolari, to come at any price. failing that they would have asked o'neill or allardyce, the best english coach at being realistic and playing to his team's strengths.

rooney said he was gobsmacked. Sure boy, we arent asking if it was intentional - most fouls arent. Its called 'dangerous play'. if a portuguese had done that to becks the whole english team would have protested, not one person.

So Ronaldo, in fact Portugal's offence, was beating the mosy hyped team of no-hopers around. The media machine will roll in with vengeance, the cost is showing already - ronaldo should have won tournament young player, not borowski. portugal became the 'diving team' - why not ask australia about the italian dive that kicked them out or discuss henry's back-hug with puyol?

And guys, until england has a team built as a team and not a media circus, and has a coach who is realistic about his team's status, they will go nowhere. Michael Owen said man for man they were the best in the tournament. Thats crazy. Argentina, Brazil, Italy, France, Spain & Germany had equal, or better, personnel. The difference is the sum total; the effectiveness of the team unit. Germany, fifth on personnel, had it and are third. Argentina, arguably best, changed the team plan and crashed.

England had neither personnel, team ethic nor plans. Only girlfriends. They're out. Thank God. Now we can watch the beautiful game without a media circus as dessert,

Bimbayo, please only speak english because i didn't understand what u've just said. But from my own understanding u're a three lions hater from ur analysis.
The fact is that england did not deserve to go out due to their 4-5-1.BUT rooney was sent off because he was frustrated due to the 4-5-1 formation which meant that he was a lone striker.
And one more thing please u can bash the three lions, but try not to bash the red devils.
welcome.
