If you watched CNN recently you would have seen what recently happened in Indonesia.The govt was corrupt and the people demanded the resignation of the prime minister.They all came out en masse with their mats,canopies,pillow and food to come and keep vigil in front of the prime ministers office demanding for his resignation.After some uncomfortable days for the prime minister,he yielded to their demand and agreed to carry out a referendum
We really need to copy these people.Here in Nigeria,all we do is talk,talk and talk.We don't want to take any action to secure our future and that of our children. We watch our leader rip us off with impunity,increasing their already overbloated wages by 100% and we sit there hoping for better days.Those better days will continue to elude us if we don't take action.Imagine our leaders increasing their pay when a lager proportion of Nigerians can hardly live a comfortable life
We don't have to make it violent and disturb the peace of the state,just like it was done in Indonesia,we just need do something extra ordinary.We can't just continue to watch them ripping us off.The corruption in indonesia is not up to a tenth of what we have here in Nigeria.Imagine our legislators collecting 2.5million each for sitting for a recess day sitting.

Thoroughly, how? I mean whats your suggestion on how to oust corrupt leaders without a coup or violent revolution? Is it not referendum? And if the stubborn leader refuses to conduct one or step down, what happens. . . . . . . wait for you to give us the thorough approach? As for the replacement, they keep trying out other people until they get somebody who is ready to work for them. The day we stop trying is the day we die. At this point, one wonders whether Nigeria is dead. What's the source of this story? I can't find it anywhere.

I think Seun is right. Thailand's 'people revolt' really is one corrupt politician fighting another by proxy. Either way, Thaksin Shinawatra or his opponent's stooge get power.
The PM didnt step down because of people pressure. H e stepped down because the people (popular opinion on the street) had approved of the army taking over power should in case their riots fail. Politically, the Thai are decades behind us. The Nigeran populace would rather solve problems through democratic means than a coup, even though it is slower.

If every society, community, or just group of people do the same, half of the man kind problems would be resolved. Most of our problems are coming from liars, cheaters, and thieves who are calling themselves politicians, businessmen, and leaders.
There is no need for those who like always to be source of frustration by saying WHAT CHANGE WOULD IT MAKE. let's presume that movement and similar ones have made no change, WHAT CHANGE HAVE YOU DONE. SHOW THE WORLD WHAT MAY COME OUT OF YOU? those people actually have less self confident and appreciation.
Another thief may replace past one but at least he will be afraid and steal less than the former one.
