nice one indeed - I will forever love him for that hat-trick at stamford bridge Back to AW and his comments, he has said clearly that he wants evolution, not revolution in his squad - a side that has improved markedly from 68 points and a second round CL exit to 83 points and a questionable Q-final exit - that is not a side that needs to be completely overhauled. Doubtless we need to strengthen, but you only need to look at Spurs down the road to show you that mass spending may not get you anything (their milk cup success not withstanding) "When there is a problem in England, people say 'you have to buy'. But you have to consider as well the development of your players internally."
"If we lose, people leave the game and say 'Wenger you must buy a centre forward' if we haven't scored, or they want a central defender if someone has made a mistake. But you have to accept that the team can be developed.""I believe much more in that, working in an intelligent way to make a player improve."There you have it - AW will not shift from his core ideals of improving what he's got and building a team not simply purchasing one. "I will try to buy, maybe in the defensive area and one on the creative side of the game as well because we had some players, important players, who were out this year," said Wenger. "We want as well to bring new talent in on the creative side of our game.Note the plural 'important players out' - this makes me think he is looking to bring in a winger, at least to strengthen the wings, and maybe, just maybe, a striker - because to me the important players he is talking about are Rosicky and RVP and those are areas we need to improve on. He also mentions 'creative side' twice - further indicating he is thinking of probably two midfielders or MF+ST. This is the first time in the last 3/4 years that we've gotten a definitive sense of what AW wants to do in the summer - I think it will be a pretty exciting period for Arsenal, and crucial too. Lets hope we get the players we want as quickly as possible. For me the CB is the most crucial - we outscored everyone save MU, and our GD is better than Chelsea's - we just conceded too many soft goals. I wouldn't get too excited with the Makoun story just yet, lets see if any reliable sources (not the blood-sucking agent) carries the news. Speculations will go on and on from now till August 31st. . .I just hope we aren't disappointed. I think we need to do a season review after the last games this weekend and see who has really performed and who hasn't - I'm sure most of us know this already, but it would be good to see how many astute people we have here - not wolf criers and doomsday cry babies. if he needs attacking player especially on the wings, then RICARDO QUARESMA IS OKAY.
Niko krancjar is a full option player

Quaresma why? because he has a big name? I'd go for Ben Arfa instead - his deal is not yet extended and we could offer him something special - plus we have a sizable French contingent at the club. Krancjar would be good if we got him at a good price - young and energetic, might be our kind of player - and we could get him by trading someone else like say Djourou or Senderos. I don't know who AW is looking at really, the only 'reasonable' target I've heard of is Albiol - Valencia CB; He's young at 22, has played in the CL and is TALL 6'2'' - since his club is in free fall at the moment, we could get him at a bargain. Who else? Of course the touted Makoun would be interesting, and with Vela coming back, three such additions would make me satisfied - Krancjar/Arfa, Albiol and Makoun. If we got 74 goals last time around with all the injuries, we can get as many and more if the midfielders chip in better, even if we don't buy any forwards. Gunner 1915

well assuming no one else leaves, all we need is a QUALITY winger(someone capable of playing on either flank would be ideal), a QUALITY holding midfielder, and a QUALITY striker.another cb might seem a good idea now but since neither toure nor gallas would be leaving, he(whoever 'he' is) might just end up destabilizing the squad. but then again a QUALITY cb in the mould of vidic or terry could well solve our defensive problems.rio/vidic and terry/carvalho are the best central defensive pairings in the league because they complement each other(ones a hardman who is dominant in the air and the other is pacey and comfortable with the ball at his feet), with toure and gallas, its like having two left feet! QUALITY winger- well if we're to believe the reports arsenal are currently the favourites to sign ben-arfa(that is if he decides to leave france).he would be perfect. QUALITY holding midfielder- makoun, arsenal are also favourites to sign him.he should fit in nicely. QUALITY striker- david villa has stated publicly he would fancy a move to arsenal.but with many other top clubs in the mix, he'd prolly cost a lot, and i don't see wenger breaking the benk for him.and with rvp likely to be out injured for large parts of next season, bendtner not being good enough to start, and eduardo still some way off full fitness, we'll need a striker to partner ade.who? i don't really know.

OH, You haven't heard, there are many more players to follow, including Eboue, Senderos, Djorou,Song and even the gaffer is leaving.(Don't forget that the MD has left also) At this rate, Lady Nina and the rest of the tight fisted board may pick up shirts and lace boots when the league starts around early AUgust and we may sign up some cheap African starlets from Mauritania and Cape Verde before the window closes. Don't u guys get tired of fanthoming every year that Arsenal is about to DIE When Paddy left, same story, when Henry left, same thing, I have even heard here that AW was stupid to let Ljunberg go. Is it not the same Ljungberg that West Ham is questioning their mental state for actually signing him. ???They are on their knees begging him to go. I think some guys are secretly fans of Arsenal. Guess that's why they are more worried than the REAL stake holders

According to the Daily Mail, Emmanuel Adebayor has threatened to throw Arsenal into full-blown crisis by following Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb out the door unless they make him into one of the Premier League's top earnershttp://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=689254

one wish i want AW to do is to break the salary structure of the club. arsenal shld be the least paying team in the big 4. why can't he just make these players earn cash like their mate with all their contributions. thats why a player will always jump at a mega bucks from a big team else where. ashley cole did, flamini left, hleb is going and adebayor wants to go too? why can't he just up their wages

He deserves a wage increment. A 30 goal striker earning 35k per week! Haba Wengylo! Wenger is a slave master. Adebayor Milan,Intern,Barca,Madrid are all for you. Leave that Prof and find a better life. Afterall,he has threatened you that you could become a nobody.

Hleb and flamini were almost nobody before they came to arsenal. Wenger will replcate them. If cesc fabregas could replcae viera and Clichy (who is better than ashley cole) could replace ashley cole and henry could score only about 12 goals for barca while adebayor scored 30 goals,Ljunberg is forgettable thanks to cameo performances from walcott. i M CONFIDENT.
LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, AT LEAST for one wenger knows he has to spend big during the summer and has admitted into bringing experienced players. i heaar Alberto Aqualini of AS Roma is on his books too.
AND REMEMBER GUNNERS, THIS SAME PEOPLE THAT ARE SAYING ARSENAL IN TATTERS WERE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT PREDICTED ARSENAL TO TAKE FIFTH OR SIXTH PLACE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON BECAUSE HENRY LEFT.

the simple truth is, Arsenal will still be BIG next season, football'ing' is just like working, a new company gives u an offer with higher pay or u think the new company will take u to higher places but, it doesn't always work out, if Henry cud turn bac the hands of time, do u think he would re-choose the Barca offer?
i respect Flamini's move, his contract is off, but Hleb and Adebayor, though still speculations, can leave if they want. the best way to scare off buyers on players u don't want to go is to put an 'unreasonably' huge tag on them, if anyone buys them at that rate, FINe!!!
I mean, ow can Adebayor ask for 85k a week from a former of 35k, aba , if u were the coach, will u approve that?, especially from a player who can't do it all. Adebayor is good but has a 1001 weak-points. if him wan go, fine, u buy another big player with the money and still get it going,
The thing is, Wenger doesn't just think of winning trophies with his boys, he's into developing their lifes, and thats y he doesn't hav the thing for 'made' players, most are stubborn,,,
but he sure needs to buy some good ones this time.
Arsenal will get better by nex season , take it or leave it.

The Grapevine has it in Spain that Pep Guardiola is planning a summer clear out and that players that will be shown the exit door include-Gudhessen,Dinho,Edmilson,Henry,Dos Santos,Thuram,Oleguer,Jorquera,Yaya Toure . I think Yaya would be a good acquisition after we missed out on him when he was still in Greece. Hope AW will be monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, this looks good if it's true http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2008/05/09/sfnars109.xml

what are we discussing all this things for, wenger will do whatever he wants to do, don't be suprised if he doesn't sign any recognisable player this season, every year we keep on getting dissapointed with the names he brings in, and also you never know, you might not no the player but wenger knoes just how to select the right player we need, look at sagna.

Players' exit can be blamed on Wenger, he likes to keep them but he's sometimes left with little to do; Flamoney knew what he was plying for and that's revealed. Arsenal could to do better without him, Hleb leaves arsenal for Inter at his own peril.
