Talking of AW not saying anything about big name players on his shopping list, just got this from caughtoffside
Arsenal linked to three more transfer targets, and still no big names in sight May 25, 2008 A few days ago, Arsenal’s aging and increasingly useless midfielder Gilberto Silva said something along the lines of “Wah wah wah we need more players”.
Well, as it says in the Bible - “Moan and ye shall receive.”
This morning Arsenal are now linked to a flurry of new targets St Etienne duo Mouhamadou Dabo and Blaise Matuidi and Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez. Dabo shares a name with that awful player who signed for Birmingham or Wigan or something recently, while I can’t claim to have seen Matuidi or Gomez on the recent FIFA World Player of the Year shortlist although Gomez has been a big player in Germany for a few seasons now. But the much-desired “big names” they are not.
So if unsubstantiated gossip is anything to go by, Wenger is going to remain too stubborn to pay top dollar for big stars and instead go the route of that mid-range area of Eduardo, Nasri, Hleb, Rosickey etc where they are just about well known enough for fans to have seen them on FM or something.
Wenger does us all a favour by unearthing talents that no one has heard of, or bringing less-than-big names over for us to enjoy - its far more satisfying than just splurging. However even though the Gooners are constantly moaning about needing some big names, it’s becoming increasingly clear that they just need to accept that this is the way Wenger is going to spend his dosh.
Or, maybe its all a smokescreen and David Villa will walk into the Emirates tomorrow for a cool 30 mill

Wenger should go for yaya toure. I hope Nasri will be a replacement for robert pires and score 15 goals every season like pires use to. That is why hleb and rosicky can never be compared to pires. David villa in arsenal??? The only chance we have is to sign him before euro 2008 because after that, chelsea and barcelona are rebuilding their teams and they have too much moiney to spend.

Talking about Nasri reminds me of the endless russian roulette that hleb is playing with our emotions about whether he' d stay or not.I had resolved to look at only his good side, but now it seems he's really making me look @ him like the twig with great ball skills he is that cannot take a shot @ goal (apologies Glen D)

If wenger buys david villa , I will buy three david villa jerseys. I think eboue and senderros should be fired, especially eboue-lacks technique. only arsenal midfielder who did not score a single goal in all competitions last season senderros reminds me of pascal cygan while eboue reminds me of francis jeffers

My dream team next season almunia sagna toure gallas clichy rosicky cesc yayatoure Nasri adebayor david villa however david villa and yaya are doubts, nasri might not fit in during his first season and rosicky might be injured again so we are left with only cesc in midfield with the likes of the same the same(diaby, gilberto, denilson, walcott and eboue ) Terrible

I'D buy one and have him personally autograph it I think eboue and senderros should be fired, especially eboue-lacks technique. only arsenal midfielder who did not score a single goal in all competitions last season senderros reminds me of pascal cygan while eboue reminds me of francis jeffersYea really, but I think it's more a case of senderos reminding one of pascal cygan on drugs, while eboue reminds me of a partially shackled and blind-folded francis jeffers

@vicade Lol.Senderos is a Cygan incarnate notice the bald-head i think that dude is naturally clumsy as his case is definitely not one of inexperience,Eboue on the other hand is still useful but only as backup to Sagna i couldnt care less if Hleb goes 10 goals in three seasons is very poor.Rosicky is too injury prone so we should be looking for a potential replacement for him as well
Villa and Nasri would be good buys and Villa wants to come which means he would be willing to prove a point if signed

"Honourable” Arsenal midfielder linked with Spanish club: Will this saga ever go away? Well it’s official: Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb really doesn’t want to stay at Arsenal. Or it at least looks that way after his agent decided to fan the already raging flames between his client and the club by linking Hleb with a possible move to Real Madrid.
The saga surrounding Alexander Hleb’s future at Arsenal took yet another turn as his representative claimed that it is a “great honour” for the midfielder to be touted as a possible target of Spanish giants Real Madrid. (Telegraph)
Hleb’s agent continued to stir the pot with this gem of a quote.
“For any player in the world it is always a great honour that a club like Real Madrid is interested in him,” Ferber told Spanish newspaper AS. “This confirms the good work that Hleb has been doing in these last few years that he is being recognised by one of the greatest clubs in the world. Nobody should have any doubts that the interest from Madrid is a privilege for the player.” (Telegraph)
Regardless of what happens in this saga, Hleb and his agent have shown their true colours. They have no problem biting the hand that feeds them, and the lack of respect shown to Arsenal proves that the Belarusian is fine burning bridges with the London club.

Yaya Toure i agree am sure a lot of gunners share your opinion on Eboue, he's the most disliked player. Forget Villa . we all know AW never buys like that . .We will all be speculating and AW will come up with players we dnt even know about . .he likes rough diamonds. lets just keep our fingers cross that he actually buys . . as per hleb please i am tired with all this merry go round stuff if he is tired let him move on . .We do not need another reyes I dnt think they will pay that much . maybe 15 or so

The funniest thing is thaat if arsene wenger does not win any trophy again this season, there are more chances of chelsea's yet to be known new coach getting sacked than wenger as a matter of fact, only Sir alex's job is more secure than that of wenger Respect. Wenger should get yaya toure. that jean makoun guy looks like the next diaby in the making. Yaya toure is top draw.

He would really do a lot of stuff in the midfield for Arsenal. Infuse a little bit of fighting spirit in the midfield as well as firing power in the attack. I have always admired that guy's style of play.
