Bassett deserved an oscar for her role as Malcolm X's wife, not Halle and her bullshit.

Yeah. Oscar recognition would be better though. All she got was one crummy nomination for her portrayal of Tina Turner in that biopic. Some actors work half a lifetime before getting real recognition. Penn, one of the finest actors that ever walked the earth, got an oscar only in the last few years, while someone like Foxx strolls in and gets it at the start of his career. Not denying it wasn't a worthy performance; he was amazing. But any other actor on that list would have been great; say, Cheadle for Hotel Rwanda.
Trying to watch Legend of the Seeker. Its really terrible.

Seriously everyone should make it their GOAL to watch The Orphan

Just got back from seeing it. Havent seen a horror  movie this good in a long while. It was excellent. Wasnt like completely new on ideas as I could tell somethings mainly due to growing up reading Stephen King & R.L. Stine but the director really did a great job.

Iice Im looking at you o! JeSoul too! Seriously awesome movie, took the bitter Public Enemies off my tongue

If Karma thinks The Orphan is good (scary) then I'd best only watch 5minutes at intervals by noon every other day among atleast a dozen of my friends each time till I finish. Afterwards, I could go for post-traumatic stress relief sessions. Hopefully, I'll make it back to being a semblance of good ol' Vesc

Oh man this is where I miss Gamine. Checking out the demos of the forthcoming Splinter Cell and God of War on PS3. I mean, Whoa man.

TOH likes Orphan . . . hmmm I might go see it then. And if I experience any sleeping disorders after that it will not be funny oh  Smiley

Max,
I stomached ~10mins of "Seeker" few months ago. I couldn't help but think it was the poor man's servant's version of whats that show with the ripped dude with animal skin for underwear, that speaks to animals/lion or something like that? and also 'Xena'. Those shows were lame . . . the seeker takes their 'lameness' to a whole nother level.

Is there anyone here who'll confess to watching the series "Rescue me"?  For some reason I am grossed out by Dennis Leary.

Right. Like you're capable of sleeping disorders from a horror movie. You eat the stuff for lunch.
I liked Leary in the Thomas Crown Affair remake with Rene Russon and Brosnan. Haven't seen him around since.
Poor man's servant version lol! Has my vote for worst TV series on this planet and the next.

Also loving Lisa Nicole Carson. .  who play's Ally Mcbeal's sidekick - I just read she's ran mad  Sad

The dude isn't really into movies  Cry unless its action, popular, has someone in it he recognizes or the trailer is convincingly good. Orphan has none of the above characteristics.

Aww, JeSoul is experiencing the plight of a football lover's hearthrob. You've got great taste in movies, I daresay my guy doesn't know what he's got. I'm sure there are plenty more enthralling facets to keep him occupied.

I was hoping you people would just stop talking about Legend of the seeker and it would become a legend (without the awe) and go away. I visited someone and it was on. Normally I don't really ever sleep (I hibernate) but man, I absolutely slept off. I asked later if it was PG 3.

You people have been talking about black actresses. I'm no racist or a chauvinist but my favorite actors (I don't even like the word actress) are male. The female ones I like are female and mostly foreign (to the U.S. that is). Remove the usual suspects like y'all have mentioned and I see none left. I reallly try to find astonding black female actors but I can't.

Max, art thou ignoring me?

Make una leave Eddie na. Shebi he was good, in the beginning. Coming to America is still one of the funniest movies ever. And his was the only acting in Dreamgirls. Don't get why Hudson got that oscar. I don't see what she did to earn it.

Mall Cop- not too bad but was somewhat saved by the twist at the end. So so,imo.

Dr Horton Hears a Who: great realistic CGI and interesting storyline.

one of those movies you force yourself to keep watching just to find out how it actually ends. ie what kind of predictable ending they gave it.

besides, no refunds so I had to watch my money's worth Wink Should have checked the reviews beforehand.

Funny enough, someone told me I'd 'like' The Orphan. Like I like any horror movie. Undecided But I knew what he meant- Its not frivolous; its good, possibly a work of cinematic art, like The Omen, I'd endure being scared half to death to for.
Have you been led to this one yet, JS? Na so-so horror film ya own curiosity dey carry you dey go look. Seriously though, what's the attraction? And don't say its the 'story' o, since there's mostly none to speak of. I think the last horror movie I saw was The Ring, but the kid in it irritated me too much for any real scares. How can you endure it?

Got the Emily Rose thing on DVD, but the atmosphere in the movie was so terrible I got the blue blazes out of there.

Guess who? Hint hint
