Nigerian Bottling and RuffnTumble were approached with similar offers to buy back their brandname.com,  guess what,  they stuffed it,  you can imagine a whole
diamondbank refusing to buy diamondbankplc.com simply because it had diamondbank.com,  they said to heck with .net .info.biz,  who goes there anyway.

The perception of value has to change in Naija,  otherwise you are just fishing for kobo kobo trouble.

Imagine if i had NTA.com and wanted to sell it to NTA Broadcasting,  I am sure they'd say like "nigerianbottling-ng.com" is better than nigerianbottling.com

As the first Nigerian Domainer, I stand to say that domain Income is a lucrative business.
Legitimate income from the Internet is on domaining. I registerd myonlineoffice.biz for $8 and sold it for $1,500 to a french company. I have slod host of others.

The truth is it is not just registering domain that matters. Most newbie domainers goes ahead registering domain name without any one asking them for purchase.  A domain I registered as swiftand distinct.com, 24hourparked.com and webucator.us sells that just regisreing  names such as six8seven.com.

You will need to understand the fuzzy logics to do this, otherwise you will waste all your money. The second truth here is that it takes you day one to 265days to sell off your domain.

On the issue of Nigerian Banks and selling, the bank is very right not buying it. In buying names, factors that will count includes: mindshare, typo-generic and then brand. And if the bank is in their right legal stand regarding domains, they have the rightb to take over the domain that is related to their name without paying a dime. The guy who registered it committed cybersquarting. Cybersquarting means registering a brand name of another company and it is is a very strong online offence.


The orriginator of this write-up also may not have a good background of what he wrote. ebayforum.com cannever be kept for sale as ebay will fight tooth and nail to sue the registrant and will take the domain without paying.

Personal Experience with ebay: I registered a domain name called http: openvirtualdebitcard4paypal.com and was using it to make money daily as that is my core. eBay owns paypal and they wrote me with all readiness to take legal action untill I had to delet it. It is their trade mark and brand and product.

If the you registered NairaBank.com and you reside in US for example, you are still liable to prosecution. If you register it when the bank or company was not in existence, then they will have to buy it from you. The issue is that it will be misleading people who will definitely think that that same site owner or products belong to the same entity.
