Bolarge, Listen,  I do not rule out the beleive that the are people who encarnate with mission to harm in this universe, they nick name them devil, those name is invented by someone who incarnate as a critic of phylosophy. I mean to so that we human are here to achieve a certain mission depending of what our past life was. We Blacks seem to surpress our Devine power and remain slave to white invention. if you have been to europe for instance you will notice that religious teaching  is used as a Moral code of conduct and social sect, and their leader are secretly practicing an african mystical principle of an Egyptian Ritual, very very long year before Christ this was the principle used by people even John the Babtist who heals sicknesses and Jesus is link to this, reseach could prove it, (go to Google search on Internet for search) secret are no secret again for who want to know. First  let see how selfish and materialitic the now christian are, Jesus involve in an egyptian mystical principle from John the Baptist to develope his God conciousness he did not wear gold Ring, Watch, Suit etc but those who call themself christian now does, then how concious are they in christ or God conciousnes. there is no one out there call God, God is what you beleive in. the white missionary who bring Bible to African was busy violating Humanity and killing, stealing , surpressing our culture, setting insider to lure and kill our great spiritual kings and robbed his secret  using bible as cover. now leaving us weak to be under them still we are criticising our tradition, those that invented the good thing people enjoy in the world now like Cars ,Airplane, Radio, Computer, etc are geting their Knowdlege in mysterous way we call devil or witch act in Africa. All we do is surpressing our Spiritual people and force them go underground turning to destruction  instead of contruction  and finally with Stigma dies with thier Great spiritual power. we keep calling all that we have Bad and Devilish and continue woshiping the Whitemen.  all Black will be wipe out of this Earth if we dont change and love our Human Trade mark. Afterall Thousands of Rwanda Tutsi where kill in the Church calling God for Help.A Blackman cannnot be a pope because he is trusted of secretcy.etc. some are Killing one another with God's Name, is time we try to understand what God is all about , Let Leave Ogboni Alone there are happy with theirself indentity as the Traditional son of the soil.

The Ogboni fraternity has just about as much spiritual power as the average pentecostal church.

Ogboni secret cult

The word ‘Ogboni’ has a lot of meanings. Ogboni may mean – odidi eni so ogun, which means one who can kidnap a complete man for ritual

Another meaning goes thus – the club or cudgel (weapon) of assault and death

Ogboni is known as ‘osugbo’ to ijebu tribe of Yorubas and ‘osugbo’ means ‘the cult of old age’. The word ‘osugbo’ is derived from the cox comb tuft of hair left on the head after it has been cut, and that is the sign of old age.

Ogboni or osugbo can be translated in another way as ‘egbe arugbo’, the ‘conclave of gey haired men.

In ile-ife, ‘ogboni’ is known as ‘imole’ ‘aborigines’ which is another name given to ‘ogboni’ mostly in Oyo State. ‘gori’ is the name that the Hausas give to the ‘ogbonis’

In the olden days before the advent of western civilization, ogboni was a very powerful organization in which all powers belong to.

They are the political organizers in Yoruba land, established for the purpose of maintaining law and order, they deal with criminal charges and settle civil disputes. They discuss general issues concerning the well being of the community. They are the ‘king makers’ and also have power to expel any king from his throne. If any king misbehaved, ogboni will send a secret sign called ‘aroko’ in which the king will die upon receiving same. The secret cult sign ‘aroko’ is ‘parrot’s egg” in white calabach.

Among the egbas and the Ijebus, ogboni were the chief executives and the judiciary in the olden days and had judicial powers which of course extended to life and death.

Their meeting day

Ogboni meets on every 17 days unless there is an emergency. They do meet around midnight where nobody will see them maybe as a result of their uniform

Their annual festival
Like others, ogboni secret cult have many kinds of festival. When its time for the festival, the man in charge called ‘ashipa’ will announce the festival day and everybody will prepare for the day. On that day, the first thing they will do is the washing of their ‘father’ and ‘mother’ – the two images of Edan that ogboni believes to be the image of Adam and Eve.

They wash the edan with Odundun leaf, otito leaf, sefunfun leaf, ogbo leaf etc. after washing the idols, they will put them on a very white cloth and ask from ‘edan’ what wil be this year’s sacrifice and whatever it requests, they will provide be it killing of human being.

Dressing of the ogboni

You can identify an ogboni chief with a large trousers with double wrappers, heavy beads on his neck and a broad brimmed hat on his head.

You can also see the ogboni with single broad clothe worn like toga.

We also have chieftains in ogboni but will not go into that because of space.

Ogboni Reformed Fraternity (ORF)

The venerable Archdeacon, Reverend Thomas Adeshina Jacobson Ogunbiyi was the founder of the ROF. He was born in Isale Eko, Lagos Nigeria. He was the only African archdeacon of the Anglican Communion of his time.

The man was the most distinguished commander of the Britis Empire (BE) as well as the Honourable member of the Legislative Council (MLC). He was also the Licentiate of Theology. He was a spiritual church leader and an innovator who introduced things into the church such as celebration of harvest festival into the Anglican Church in 1910 A.D and at the  Holy Trinity Church, Ebute Metta in Lagos State

Ogunbiyi was the man who first put public Christian revival services in practice in 1913 AD  when he founded the Lagos Keswick Convention

Through ogunbiyi, Nigerian churches put their heads together to form a body at Onitsha in 1943 AD known as (CCN) Christian Council of Nigeria with the company of all eminent churches of that time such as

1.   CMS (church missionary society) known then as Anglican
2.   he Methodist church (Wesleyans then)
3.   the salvation Army Church
4.   the Baptist church

he was a member of ogboni ibile in lagos city. A member of ogboni aborigine in Abeokuta and also a member of osugbo cult in Ijebuland

ogunbiyi was the first olori apena of the fraternity. He died on june 19, 1952

Based on the mail I received from Smith Bright, I decide to bring it out to limelight how people join the cult.

If someone wants to be a member of the Ogboni secret cult, he will ask for how to be one.

When he knows, a member of the cult will first tell the leader of his ‘iledi’ known as Oluwo that he (the agent) wants to bring to the ‘iledi’ another new member on a particular day. When Oluwo agrees with him, the agent will tell the would be member to prepare for his day. The would be member will bring

1.   Two pieces of white clothes (large ones)
2.   Eeku gbigbe (dry rat)
3.   Eja gbigbe (dry fish)
4.   Palm wine
5.   Schnapps
6.   Hot drink
7.   Goat
8.   Pounded Yam
9.   White moinmoin (Ekuru)
10.   Red Moinmoin
11.   Bitter Kola
12.   Alligator Pepper

On the initiation day, the introducer will bring his friend closer to the shrine ‘Iledi’. The new member will clothe himself with those two-pieces of white cloth by wrapping himself with one from bottom downward while the second should cover his left shoulder downward. The agent will find another small white cloth to cover his friend’s face and make him stand at the doorstep of the shrine. The agent will then knock the door in their cultural way like this ko! ko! ko! And the ceremony will start thus:

Inside the shrine:

Atikun tikun means closer has closed the door

Outide: (the agent): Onikele yo kele inside the shrine: Eja nbakan (fish or crab)?

Outside: Akan

Inside (Iledi): Kukute mbeeyan (wood or man)

Outside: Kukute (the wood)

From inside: awoabogberi (knower or ignorant)?

Outside: awo (the knower)

From Iledi: kini akankan (by what did you knock the door)?

Outside: Eku meji oluwere  (by two rats oluwere oluwere)
From inside: kini o tun fi kan (by what did you knock again)?

Outise : Eja meji abiru gbada (by two fish abiru gbada)

From inside: kini o tun fi kan (by what did you knock again)?
From outside: pelu ogbo (orogbo) (bitter kola)

From Iledi: kini o tun fi kan (by what did you knock again)?

From utside: pelu akopa (obi) (kolanut)

From inside: kini o tun fi kan (by what did you knock again)?

From outside: pelu obe (atare) (soup prepared with alligator pepper

From inside: woo bi o ba too wo asikun kun (enter if you can do so, the opener has opened the door)

Then the agent will open the door and use his left toes to touch the ground of Iledi three times and tell his friends to do so and will then enter into the shrine with his back and direct his friend to do so while his friend’s face remained covered.

The man in charge of accepting the new member (odofin) will take the new member top the front of “edan” (an image believed to be Adam and Eve) and command the new member to kneel down for the ritual ceremony. They will take from what he brought to prepare his spiritual food and will give him this spiritual diet while he remains in darkness with his face covered and will start chanting incantations, invocations and curses on him telling him (the new member) to say after him (the agent) that “You Mr. … should not tell anybody whatever your eyes see here, if you do so, all curses you hear today will be yours, moreover, you may be killed by the Onile (the spirit of the mother earth).

After all this spiritual eating and incantations, they will split kolanut in front of Edan and ask edan whether she accepts Mr. … as one of her children. If the answer from ‘ edan’ image is ‘yes’ through the kolanut broken, they will kill one fowl and put the bvllood on the kolanut and on the ‘edan’ with trhe blood. New member must eat from the koanut and other members too. When the blood is finished on the ‘edan’, they will then give ‘edan’ image both male and female to the new member to kiss and after kissing, every member will say at once that “omu-iya dun (the milk from breast of our mother is sweet).

After this, the leader (oluwo) of the shrine ‘iledi’ will should loudly and say: eri woo ya 3 times and the members will answer ayagbo-ayato (sorry for not interpreting it) each time it is being said. Then they will remove the white cloth from the face of the new member and he will thus become a member.

Ogboni – a society not fit to exist

The secrets cult do kill people for sacrifice. It is cult that disturbs justice in our courts. The organization that forces Lawyers, Judges, Doctors, Politicians, Business Tycoons etc to join them or perish.
Ogboni will send your closest friend to harm you if they want you in their society. Ogboni kill people with a dangerous poison prepared with Leopard’s liver.

Ogbini have a pot in their ‘iledi’ where they can call the spirit of a man for harming or killing. They are the one killing obas (kings) with their spiritual sign ‘aroko’. If they want to kill any king, they will put one Parot’s egg in a calabash and make invocations and curses on it and send to the king and when the king opens it, he will die immediately.

Without mincing words, everybody knows that kidnapping is the handword of ‘ogbonis’, they know how to use human beings for sacrifice to make money, seek better position in the society etc.

Ogboni secret cult disturb ‘ freedom of movement’ when they make their illegal curfew and if they want to do some bad (not to be seen things). At that time, you will hear their voice:

Eri wo ya, eri wo ya
Omolesi iyen (who is that) woo firi ki o mu oju kuro (look it less and take off your eyes) eniwo wiri, aku wiri (those who look at it clearly will die etc)

If it is a good thing they are doing, why don’t they allow people to see or look at it. They mercilessly killed a prominent Islamic preacher, Alfa Bisiriyu Apalara at No 8 Tapa Street, Oko Baba, Ebute Meta on the 5th of January 1953 but thank God they have been sentenced to death.

With all these, a decent man should not join this cult.

In the year 1976, the chief of Staff, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd.) publicly attacked the secret cult in any form in his speech at the Nigerian Army Senior Officer training week at Ibadan on January 12.

On 23rd of July, Governor Abdulahi Shelleng warned every good citizen of Nigeria to refrain from secret societies (read Nigeria Standard Newspaper of that day).

New Times Magazine on its cover story on April 1985 decribed ‘ogboni’ secret cult as the most dangerous society for the citizens of Nigeria.

Parry Osayande, the old Bendel State Police Commissioner published it in a newspaper called, “The Guardian” on Sunday 7th of December 1986 that ‘police boss likns Anini with Ogboni cult’. Anini the notorious armed robbers was an ogboni secret cult member.

A Nigerian Newspaper, ‘National Concord’ on Friday December 12th 1986 also condemned ‘ogboni cult’.

Doctor S.T. Ola Ayinde, the General Secretary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention in the Newspaper called ‘newstimes of April 1985’, said that his society should not accept deceased member of ogboni for burial in any of  his church.

Because of all these allegations, Reformed Ogboni Fraternity organized a written constituion and registered their society as a religious organization under the Land and Perpetual Succession Act. They published Hymns and ritual books, but al these are just to deceive Government and the people of the nation, because what they do inside their shrine is against what they write in their constitution.


I will not go into the relationship between ogboni and other religions with regards to trinity, holy spirit, animism (speaking in tongue or in spirit), bowing to images, secrecy of their faith, human sacrifice etc.

Burial of an ogboni member.

They bury their deceased in many different ways according to their rank.

They cut only the heads of many of them and replaces them with calabash and wraps the deceased with black or red cloth at times and scarcely with white shroud. They will do all these in ‘secrecy’ and will then lay the remaining body gently in a coffin.

At times, the deceased Ogboni will not be buried at all, instead, they will carry its body to a secret part of Iledi and will hang it in an upside down position so that its legs will hang up with the head down. When it is the time that the body is gloomy and sullen, they will put one bog calabash down under his head where all the water of its body will be dropping until the body becomes dry. They will put his remain in a big hole that has been prepared for such ting.

The ogboni will just put something like timber of plantain in the coffin instead of the real corpse and that is why ogboni will refuse to lay their deceased member in a place where member will see.

For Christianity too, the matter is the same because in Roman Catholic, when pope dies, the cardinal who becomes the house caretaker before the choosing of another pope takes hold of a small hammer made of silver and stand over the deceased pope. Using the hammer, he taps the deceased gently on the forehead and call out the full names of the deceased pope three times with strong voice, saying, ‘are you dead really’? The cardinal will wait for some minutes to see if the corpse will answer, if there is no answer, the cardinal himself will answer his question, ‘truly the pope is dead. The cardinal will do some undisclosed rituals and then call for the final burial of the deceased pope.
