Do You Like Nurses/Nursing?
« on: September 13, 2005, 05:20 PM »

Why people are neglecting nurses?  Many people are saying they can't marry nurses, while some are saying they can't become nurses.

I like nurses with their uniform & their duty, even their off days.  Hello, somebody who likes nurses?

I guess that's for those in Nigeria. Over here nurses get paid real good, and that's why i want to be a nurse. The whole blood scene is not my thing, but because of the money, i now like blood.  Cheesy  haha! Okay thats not why i want to be a nurse.. i just love nurses and i want to be one.

You don't neccesarily have to wear white gowns, it depends on the level of your Nurse-iness. Almost all the Nigerian girls in my school are practising to become nurses. The guys are all for Doctors and engineering.

There's someone close to me who likes to tell the story of how he swore to himself never to marry a nurse, because he felt:
- (Female) Nurses work odd hours, which means less attention for the husband.
- The perception in those days was that the average nurse has loose manners.

However, when he met his wife, she was serving as a nurse!  I don't have anything against nurses; I think the society needs them.

There are types of nurses. When we talk of nurses, there are nurses that are just at the hospital, medical home, nursing home, etc to go by what they are told to do. Nurses that can be called upon at any time of the day to work. Nurses that has no right but to obey what they are being told to do.

There are also nurses that are like the rulers, that's the kind of nurse i want to be. Nurses that tell you the hours they are going to be working. If you want to work 4 hours per day for 4 days of the week. You say it out. Nursing has to do with qualification (just like most careers). When you are just a a nurse that gives injection to babies and sick people and you are basically a follow-doctor arround nurse. What do you espect?? You should espect, doctor can call me anytime.

Nursing is a good career, but my advice is, don't try to be a nurse or be a nurse when you know you arent taking your nursing studying to the end. You can be an RN(registered nurse), and while you are working as an RN, you can be a part time student in a university futhering to any degree you can get with your career.  (RN get paid $15 dollars upward per hour, so think of it that, if you have more qualification that are higher than an RN's, just calculate your income... dude!! You are rich!).

One thing i know is, nursing is fun when you can pick your schedule, choose the patients you'll work with, and basically enjoy the years you suffered in college and university trying to get to the top. Just read those goddamn annoying books and you shall defintely reap what you sow.  Cheesy Smiley I'm doing the same now... and that's why i can say i have a bright future. The present might suck... But i'll definitely be sucking diamonds like i suck coffee with straw in future.  Cheesy Cheesy Grin

To answer your first question, i have not had the misfortune to meet anybody here that neglects nurses, if anything, some guys will go through hell to get to an established nurse or nurse in d making.
For ya next question Grin, i love nurses, hell! i'm a nursing student n i can't wait to finish n start working and bringing in my money. Cheesy

Why won't I like nurse or nursing. If you are a nurse, there is no where in the world that u cannot reach because nurses are needed throughout the whole world. Infact, nursing is a professional course and I think if I have the chance of changing my career, that would be nursing.

Although I like nurses, I don't like their character ... Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed

They have minds that are too strong, and they deal with dead bodies.  The way they go out is too ... Smiley I will stop here, so they won't say I'm the one that said the thing.

What do you mean they have strong minds? nurses are suppose to have tender and caring minds in order to have good interactions with patients.

Nurses are by far the most understanding people (apart from counsellors that is).

Nursing is actually a wonderful profession, as it involves care for the afflicted and those in pain, however some nurses abuse their profession by seducing and even sleeping with some patients. i know a person who narrated his nurse copulation experience and he felt happy about it.
this is someone who is supposed to be taking care of a patient not as his girlfriend but as a nurse.
Secondly some people might hate nurses because they are the ones that give injection, i believe you understand what i'm talking about

thanks for all the nice comments here about nurses. i have been one for many years and have enjoyed saving peoples lives and helping them get better. there is a world wide shortage of nurses, so any of you that are considering going to nursing school please look into it. here in the US nurses can make anywheres from $20 an hour to up to $60 an hour. and if you are willing to do a little overtime you get time and a half for anything over 8 hrs a day. this can amount to  some serious cash flowing in. the benefits are great too. paid vacation and sick days, paid medical insurance, matching 401K plans, tuition matching for continuing your education, etc,  you can get an LPN degree in 1 year, or a Registered Nurse degree in 2 years or 4 years. the world will be a  more caring  place with more nurses in it. good luck.

I wouldn't take one as a wife. They are loose because they believe they have seen everything in a man's system and can cover things up. I lost a girlfriend recently, because of this. She made love with me after sleeping with another man in her school area.At "the first page" unusually she didn't say Honey put the condom on and after a month she claimed the pregnancy was mine. But then after the 'game' I asked her if she was in her non-fertile period and she said no and I said apart from trust why should u have allowed me in skin to skin. Postinor I bought was expired according to her. That drug wasn't countering my semen I realized. She was full of lies and deceit but hopefully I got wiser.'You see another man and she protested lightly' and I later confirmed that. She vowed not to leave the guy that both of us should stay. I bolted. I believe Nurses in Nigeria think up how to cheat on their men as an ingredient from their nursing jobs and experiences and they run around with Male Doctors  a lot and many finally sleep with them. It's a shame in Nigeria!

I don't think its fair judgement on your part to generalise your conclusion about Nigerian nurses through your one encounter with your  nurse girlfriend. I trained to become a nurse in Nigeria and i can confidently say there are a thousand and one beautiful young nurses who are all a man would want in a wife. Faithful, caring, and well mannered.
The myth about nurses been promisquous has long been flawed. Profession doesn't make your character,  your character is who you are not what you are. (your profession)

@ Mide2: I always hear don't generalise don't generalise.Where are the exceptions? The nature and condition of their/your profession in Nigeria render Nurses promiscuous, dependent and not confident most of the time and places I see and meet them. I have made up my mind not to engage with any in future not in the future mind you.out and
