Only a fool will think that if even 1/4 of all you mentioned/subscribe aboved is sincerely done, that nigeria will still remain one. Every fool must understand that the reason why nigeria still remain one today is because of the one sided designs/policies/arrangements that were systematically made to benefit some certain areas/groups.

Reshape nigeria today, just near as you proposed above in a way that it will favor no region/group than the other, and come back to tell me if that country will remain one. First, those that can not compete in a fair environment will be the first to call for division because in such a fair environment, they will be left behind by the capables to wallow in their backwardness. But i guess, you are still a kid and will not understand the politics of why nigeria is still one country today.

The way some people dey fixated over Nigeria and can never sleep or rest until they call "Nigeria" at least ten times in one day, is amusing. Reminds me of a story my friend told me, about a woman who was jilted by her boyfriend and up to a decade later, every morning on the hour she'D go outside, call the guy's name and rain curses on him.

hmmmm. The guy may or may not suffer. But the woman is clearly suffering more.

Enahoro: Our Mistakes in the Founding of Nigeria
By Yemi Adebowale, 09.27.2008
Saturday, September 27, 2008

The man who moved the motion for Nigeria's Independence in 1953, Chief Anthony Enahoro has admitted to the mistakes of his generation and the founding fathers by not ensuring that the country was constituted along ethnic nationality

This veteran politician, journalist and businessman has remained very much in the news ever since. Enahoro, one of Nigeria’s foremost anti-colonial and pro-democracy activists has seen it all in politics – the good, the bad and the ugly.

In an exclusive interview with THISDAY to commemorate the 48th independence anniversary of the country, Enahoro remains as dogged as ever insisting that Nigeria as presently constituted is an anomaly and not a nation.

He said the Nigeria of today is not what he and other young political activists in the late 1950s had hoped for when they fought for independence, adding it should have comprised separate federating units to reflect and represent the aspirations of the various ethnic tribes that make up the whole.

“Nigeria as it is today, is not a nation. We did not think that just because the British created it this way, we were all bound by it. We thought that even if there was going to be a Nigeria, the component units should be the ethnic groups,” he said.

Enahoro was of the opinion that “there should have been a Yoruba state, Igbo state, Hausa state, Ijaw state and the rest of the ethnic groups. That should have been the basis of our unity.”

He felt the dream of those who fought for the country’s independence had not been realised, stating Nigeria has become a nation of English people and that they conduct their business and daily lives in a foreign language which would not have been the case if federalism had been adopted.

He disclosed it was during the meetings of the youth wing of several political parties in the country of which he was the chairman, that it was agreed that each of the federating units be allowed to exist semi-autonomously.

But Enahoro disclosed that did not happen because older politicians who should have pushed for a confederacy failed to take it up from where he left off after he moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence.

“We thought the elders will take it on from there, but they thought otherwise. That is why we are where we are today.”

Enahoro whose sharp wit and intellect belied his 85 years on earth expressed sadness that the nation had not made significant progress since 1960.

He blamed the nation’s woes on the mistake made by its founding fathers who decided to leave the country as a contraption created by the British colonial regime.

“I still think Nigeria could have been effective if the units that make up Nigeria are the ethnic units. It could have been effective if the internal administration and the business of the people, and not the business of somebody sitting in Abuja.

“I do not think that a hand full of people should take the decision on a place that would be the federal capital of Nigeria. The decision ought to have been taken by all the

Enahoro have started to understand the mistakes of uniting Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, as one country, which is a very very very big mistake. Take for example, there are so many Hausa People in Ghana (About 1 Million), even though their Grand Grand Parents were born there, but they are still regarded as foreigners, they cannot contest elections, and hold higher government offices, but they enjoy all the country can offer to other citizens. The case is, if they are to be allowed to join Ghana's politics, then maybe one day in Ghana they will start looking for a shift in Presidency just like what is happening now in the Niger Area, and unity is no more there.

For ever country to enjoy Unity, the majority ethnic group are those supposed to lead their country, in the case of Niger Area, there are 3 majority groups, which each of them have the power and ability to rule its people without the other.

Why do you think he is member of Nairaland?

I think the only solution that we are all trying to run away from is the Division, and it is time, because the Unity was tried for many years now, but it is getting worse and worse and worse every day.

which 6 zone are you talking about. Forget the Abacha made 6 zone. the Abacha 6 zones are not based on population. And Abacha can not tell nigerian how many zone we want? And like you know the Yorubas do not recognized  your so call 6 zone? We boycotted the abacha constitution. So you can't force abacha constitution on us.

Where is bendle zone,  was bendle not a region before. So which  zone you dey talk about. When you get bendle zone then come back to talk to us.  Abacha 6 zone was not based on population, culture,  history parameter. So anyone can just walk up and draw line abi,

One of the constitution review should involve how to destroy abacha 6 zone.

nigeria1 and auwal i think the man that was invovle in liberating nigeria is not in support for breaking the country. he is somehow saying precisely what I'm saying.

he is talking on how nigeria can still live 2ghet with individual ethnic group control themselve and in a way promoting their languages and traaditions rather than a political monkie in abuja running the show
